These 3 rumba's from the Bord Ezanga Kombo are giving OK Jazz vibes in the frist half before switching to the Tchatcho style. The rhythm of BB Gout reminds me a little bit of Simaro's Faute ya Commercant and the rhythm of BB Gout to that of Simaro's Mabele. Was that the reason why Koffi invited former OK Jazz-player Flavien Makabi to play bass on some songs.

Koffi Olomidé himself said it a few times in interviews that Ngobila was inspired from Mabele. JF Ifongé is just stupid sometimes and always like to minimise people, while his own songs are mediocre and he doesn't sing well. People just listen to his songs to laugh.
Koffi Olomidé often openly said that the late Lutumba Simaro one of his idols next to Tabu Ley. He also said that he started to wear boubou's because of him, seeing the clothing-line as the one for nobles and intellectuals. Back in the early 80s Lutumba used to wear them often and even appeared on one of his LP's like that. But the young generation who was focused on La Sape didn't understand that and were mocking Koffi for it, thinking that he didn't knew how to wear those big brand clothes and calling him "mutu ya ba boubou". Emeneya would mock him his whole career for that. Until this day people say that it was because of Wenge that, Koffi switching from that style. Next for being mocked to wear boubou's, he was also mocked for wearing tailored clothes. Back then artists wear often wearing clothes that were oversized and youngsters thinking that it was cool, while it was because artists borrowed clothes or people stealing clothes that weren't of their size. That's also where the trend of wearing pants over the belly came. So when Koffi was performed with tailored clothes, youngsters had something like this guy doesn't know anything, while Koffi wanted to differentiate himself from artists that they used to call "voyou" and wanting to create a different image, of being an intellectual, a musician that speaks French well and who had finished school. Back in 1988, he came back in Kinshasa with a Porsche. But back at that time music-fans weren't focused on villa's and cars and bandleaders not having expensive cars. It's only when Wenge came back from Europe in 1991 that that trend of having expensive cars started.
