For pop, hip hop and few others yes they use that or actual computer.

Congolese, rock, country blues you need instruments. I don’t think you can make Congolese music with that equipment

Congolese music you need guitars. It does not come out nicely from generated beats. Congolese music comes nicely during live shows. Hip hop has no soul live

As a hip hop fan myself I have to agree with you. I got a chance to go to Kanye live show and they didn’t use a band much.

Drum machines in the 80s and 90s were heavily used in African Music. However when used properly, these patterns can emulate human drumming technique.

Franco was the first to use a drum machine in African Music.

Funny you mention Hip Hop having no soul live. Early Hip Hop (Late 70's - 1981) had live bands where emcees would rap over the rhythm. Sampling became introduced which made it easier for producers to chop up drum samples. James Brown records.

Stetsasonic is the OG of all live hip hop bands and inspired the roots
