Fally is only the most famous Congolese Musician because of the Afropop stuff. If Fally never did those Pop stuff & just did Rumba like Ferre Gola, then Fally would be on the same level as Ferre is.

i would just sum it up in saying that fally was wayyyyyy more flexible in his career and jumping in the "right wagons" so naturally he was always "in tune"with the evolution of african music,as he managed to put his name on the map,with feats with many of the hot popping and now very confirmed artists in many parts of the continent
on the other hand ferre has always liked to be the "owner" of his career,refusing to accept a lot of promotional tours with reduced staff and paycheck just for the sake of being everpresent on tv and "building his empire step by step",and it caught him in the long run as this social media era you cant afford to make yourself rare too often almost every day counts for something about your image
the messi cr7 comparison reminds me of them,one seemed bored and annoyed for large part of his career about anything related to his image ,the other one made sure that the world sees him everywhere and talks about him constantly and always enjoyed
fally's mindset was with the opportunities i got(with that structure of monsoh and co around him dealing with his management) i will take myself to the world no matter what it takes in terms of my music,on the other hand ferre was like i will take rumba to the world,while having for most of his career no strong management structure and not having the flexibility to jump on any opportunity even if its for almost free and for the image building
