Seeing how Fally, Heritier and Ferre will perform at Stade des Martyrs, made me regret the way Defao couldn't do his double Stade Tata Raphael show due to those at that time just started renovations for Jeux de la Francophonie (who are still not finished because of corruption lol). Such a shame, because his return in Kinshasa after 20 years of absence created alot of buzz. It would have been interesting to see how the results would be, because back then the popularity of Congolese music in Kinshasa was at low level. Huge artists (I will not mention their name) having 2 bottles coca cola as entrance fee, open air concerts not being packed anymore like 10 years ago (until this day), even "free" vip concerts being difficult to fill (concerts ya ba invitations).

I excepted that Defao would be on the standing of Koffi Olomidé, Nyoka Longo and JB Mpiana, doing often VIP concerts for the elite here and there. But he was so stubborn that he didn't achieve alot in his last years. Apart that one vip concert at Rotana Kin Plaza after his return, he was in his last years more performing at bars of Bumbu, Selembao and Tshangu who aren't on his level.
Once Mamie Ilela asked him why he wasn't giving VIP concerts and him saying that doesn't want to perform concerts where tickets are given for free like those of his colleagues. But in my opinion it wasn't a smart move. Because in the poor areas people aren't able to buy tickets and often come for free. While in those vip concerts, it are businessmen, politicians, people related to rich people arriving and even if they don't pay tickets, they come with alot of money and gifts. The money than mostly being more than the one concert promoter gives to the artist to perform.
