Merci is an excellent album. One of the best albums made in Clan Extra. It pushed Extra Musica Zangul to give their best again in Trop c'est Trop, like the way the did in Shalai to react against Extra Musica International. It was a good move from Quetin to get rid from Cyrille Malonga, Durrel Loemba and Regis Touba. But Quetin sadly didn't had a good vision for the band and there didn't come a new album. It would a have been interesting to see what Zangul's reaction would be on Obligatoire if that third album that Extra Musica International recorded came out.

Why did Durrell Loemba left the band Extra Musica International?

It's a long story. But in short it was a leadership-war between Regis Touba and Quentin Moyascko. Durrel Loemba, Pinochet Thierry and Cyrrile Malonga who were all admins, siding with Regis Touba because they didn't like the way Quetin Moyascko decisions and trying to control everything. In order to show them who's the real boss, Quetin Moyascko manipulated the musicians and went with them to Europe without informing Durrel Loemba, Regis Touba and co. Them being confused when they saw the musicians having interviews in Europe to talk about their arrival. This all made Regis Touba, Durrel Loemba and co team up and form Z1 International.
The funny thing is that they all prepared Merci together in Brazzaville. Many cries done by Etats Unis are creations of Regis Touba.

Who is the second atalaku in Merci? Which band do you prefer Z1 or Extra Musica International?

The second atalaku is TGV. But he does not convince. They had to let Etats Unis do animations on his own or bring another alataku on his place
I prefer Extra Musica International. I didn't really like Z1 International. They play like those gospel bands of the early 2000s (Thomas Lokofe, Rene Lokua and Mbuta Kamoka) that tried to do Ndombolo. That's why I said that Quetin Moyascko did good to get rid of Durrel Loemba and Cyrille Malonga. Otherwise Merci would have been like Super Helico. Ere de Verite had good songs, but I didn't like those unnecessary "changement de frequence" in their sebenes and that distortion-guitar. I think that distortion has to be forbidden for Clan Extra and just have to leave it to Zaiko and Quartier Latin. Durrel Loemba had good sebenes, but he never really convinced me as lead-guitarist. I don't see him as a natural solist. He had just to stay a rhythm-player and give his creations to other guitarists.

Why did so much time pass between Merci and Virgule? Is it because of the ngulu affaire?

I don't know maybe Archos know something about it. I only know that Quetin last year said proudly that he made 4 finished unreleased albums in is career (normally something to be ashamed for as an artist, but for whatever reason he's proud about it).
It has nothing to do with the ngulu-affaire. Because Quetin was always getting (until this day) visa's easily. The Zangul-camp often throwing shots to him years long when being stuck in Brazzaville, saying that he's a big human trafficker instead of musician. Extra Musica International already kind of disbanded at that time. Many members having left and became independent, living in other cities of France (Strasbourg, Tours, Lille,...) and doing jobs/working on their own musical career but the majority still performing with Quetin if they have time. Mellon Ngakana for example made with Christian Ambe in 2004 an duo-album called Flash which was produced by SIPE Production of late Simon Ndjonang.

The soloist Arnaud Laguna & the tenorist Christian Ambe were talented but it’s a shame after that album, they couldn’t get more exposure

I like how Quentin's group had only necessary numbers 4 singers, 2 atalaku and an instrumentalist for each instrument. Other than being the "Blaise Bula" of Brazza, why did the group disband even after he remained the sole leader?

I don’t know. But I think them barely performing in Europe and Quetin not really being motived. For musicians from Brazzaville it’s already difficult to perform every week and when they perform its mostly in France and just in small halls compared to bands of Kinshasa who even go to countries like Ireland, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Norway and Austria, performing twice a week during tours.
Even Extra Musica Zangul didn’t perform a lot and sometimes they would spend like weeks in Europe without performing and when doing it, it would just be cities of France and on a few occasions in London, Brussels and Geneva.
