That was because he was mad at Verckys for creating Veve. Remember Sosoliso is a spinoff of Vercky's original band Veve. So it does not shock that Franco would do something like this. Not because of the Sosoliso members but to get at Verckys for creating Veve. It was not a secret that Franco tried to mess up Verckys. Franco would fail though.

I dont believe that, because Veve himself did everything to block Sosoliso. They had even had to record secretly in Brazzaville, because all studio's received orders from Verckys to not let them record songs. He even got them arrested by Nzimbi and many other stuff. Veve himself was really happy when Sosoliso got their one year suspension. Verckys said that he used often to meet Franco and Tabu Ley to think how to stop Sosoliso's succes. Franco himself was the first one to recruit their guitarist Makosso and manager Manzenza, when Sosoliso got suspended. Franco was just jealous of them performing at Olympia first. He saw it as a huge humilation since that they were a new band and his rival Tabu Ley already having performed there in 1970, the at that time young Abeti Masikini in 1971 and twice in 1973. So he used that financial incident of the huge amount Franc CFA they received from Bokassa in Bangui to change it in Brazzaville instead Kinshasa as an excuse to suspend them for 1 year while they had to perform at Olympia the next week and already bought the tickets for all bandmembers.

Wow thank you for this history. What caused the fallout between Verckys and Sosoliso members? Was it about a woman or money issues or both?

It was because of fame coming to Verckys head, him not treating them well anymore and not paying them properly
