Was it Lofombo or Jean Louis Bikunda on the bass on these songs ? Because the way of playing is similar to that of Lofombo, but on the credits of Sala Noki Lofombo is not credited as bass-player, but only as the one who did the programmation. I heard some songs of Jean Louis Bikunda playing bass, but that way of playing is totally different than here or did Bikunda first had the same style as Lofombo but changing it when he came in Europe ? Because I remember Jean Louis Bikunda saying that he and Lofombo used to be members of Dymanique Asha before joining Big Stars and Empire Bakuba.

I believe that Lofombo did the programmation on this album as well as other albums of Defao during the 1990s. Lofombo always recounted how he collaborated with Defao during his off time from Pepe Kalle and Empire Bakuba. My guess is that Lofombo did programmation. He is a sound engineer apart from being a bassist and drummer as well.

Considering the style he'd find after settling in Europe, I think this and Amour Interdit was where Bikunda started taking cues from Lofombo. Maybe Lofombo taught him how to improve his style, maybe he created some basslines the latter interpreted on the album. If you listen to some of the albums he participated in after Defao broke up the Big Stars, Bikunda kept this Lofombo-esque style while also making it more percussive.

I asked Renato Mondele, he says Lofombo did the bass for Sala Noki.
