For almost 10 years he was saying that he will perform at Olympia and I think a month ago, he said in his interview with Teddy Mola that he would soon give his date for Olympia. But I'm surprise that he says that he's going for Palais des Sports. He doesn't have a solid fanbase nor the fame he used to have 20 years ago. How will he fill that hall ? Why does he not go for Le Divan du Monde or New Morning first ? Is it because of seeing how easily those European based gospel artist are filling Zenith and Palais des Sports ? He forgets that people who listen to his music are mostly old and do not have the urge to go to concerts compared to youngsters.

What went wrong with his career? He started off so strong. Was it an over reliance on rhumbas? Maybe it aged out an important audience age group of 20s and 30s – the ones that regularly attend concerts.

Nothing went wrong. It's just that I lost alot of power after the hype of his first album. The music that Karmapa makes is pure rumba, which automically lures older people and people from the elite. During his first album people followed him more because of curiosity and people also liking him, because he was new since that everything was focused on Clan Wenge, Wemba and Koffi Olomidé. He was even presented the man who started the 5th generation until they discovered his real age. The beef with Felix Wazekwa even boosted the album more. His second and third album were also a succes, but not as big like the first one, when he was presented as Wazekwa's rival. His 4th album did it great in the beginning, but the promotion wasn't well because of being in conflict with the producer. On his 5th album people were only focussed on the song Caligula, where he dissed Koffi Olomide. Like the 4th album the promotion wasn't well done and when doing interviews about his album, journalists were mostly focused on asking him questions about Koffi Olomide or Tatiana Kruz. It killed everything, because of him not having a strong fanbase. Also it seems that Karmapa is not really into music like his collegues and sees his music more as hobby

Next to it his band was also not like Cultura Pays-Vie or Quartier Latin, everything was centered around Karmapa to himself. People can praise all bandleaders of the 3th and 4th generation, but the way they were showcasing the talents of their bandmembers also boosted their succes in some way. Koffi Olomide is a good example, Koffi was already Koffi, but Quartier Latin also had an important contribution to his popularity later.

Next to it, Karmapa songs were mostly to empower sidecicks. So which means that 1st would immediatly not like his songs and boycot him. However, Karmapa dedicated a song for them, called "1ère Dame". But still had that image for housewives to be a a guy supports sidechicks and second wives.
