The rhythm-guitar started and also went through song was pure Zouk. I'm not a guitarist, but the effect on the guitare, is the one that Zouk-artists were often using in that era. The only difference being the lead-guitar which gives some African flavour to the song. If they removed the lead-guitare, they could have easily added vocals of Zouk Machine or Kassav lol
