I will never understand how this guy faded away, with such a classic album, I think he is the only atalaku to have such an impactful solo career cause even here in Zimbabwe we danced to his music, clubs, dance groups etc.

He was blocked by Koffi, basically Djuna was becoming extmrely big and he got threatened to stop or else
-
Wow why am I not surprised Koffi had something to do with it lol. Didn’t he also have a part in the Les Marquis split?
It’s true Djuna was getting big because even in Chicago my Dad got the DVD clips for his one album and it was on repeat for a while. I was around 10 at the time and I remember how much I thought he was going to be the next Koffi.

but why really? These so called big musicians are contributing to the decline of the genre cause this guy was going to help them keep the genre alive so that when they release people will be expecting something from Congo, right now the situation is embarrassing, seeing Congolese copy South Africans is funny and painful at the same time, they used to rule but now they are confused. The 2K generation will know them for nothing, maybe war.

You are from Zimbabwe right? How do musicians act there? Because in Congo at least kn modern times a leader doesn't Ikele to be surpassed, he will rather kill every chance of a musician being successful the to see them prosper, groups like Nouvele Horizon are where you can leave and not be sabotaged, a leader biggest fear is to be forgotten that's why Koffi stopped producing stars after he saw Fally's success, another story do you know Les Marquis Des Maison Mere

I am from Zim but in Zim we have one of the weirdest music industries in Africa, we have had 2 musicians on top for almost 10 years now, every other artist comes in to be like Fabregas in front of Koffi and Werra.

After a slow start the album the Marquis released Miracle (which they named like that to spite Werrason who was extrmeley pissde off because he wanted to call the album which later came to be known as temoignage the name of Miracle, that's why there are some identical cries in Alerte Generale and in 7Eme Leçon the generique by Les Marquis)

Ironically they both put it as the last crie with the same dance, so when the album who intitally flopped by Les Marquis De Maison Mere started to become listened too and pick steem in Kin the leader feared that this group of young guys success could dethrone them so they did as they could their best tactic to disband the band puting voices trying to destabilize the band and that's how you got Ferre who was the best singer in the band to Quartier Latin (with Koffi promising him a car a big contract with a big part of money to pay now and the rest to pay later which Koffi never paid and which led Ferre after the well known leadership war wth Fally to leave the group) and Bill to create Les Samourai Des Bill Clinton and his band (where Gemerose and Luxembourg got their start) and the rest of the group Like JDT, Mimiche Bass (RIP) and the rest to either try solo career or to leave music
with Bill having as his first solo Album Kizoba Zoba

After the group disbanded there is a rumour that two leaders phoned themselves by saying "We got lucky there I am so glad that badn disbanded"
This to show you a small sample of what happens behind the scenes and in fact if you noticed when you have a group it is never people of the same level like Les Marquis it is always a strong and clear Leader (Fabregas) and musicans under him

People often point the finger at Koffi Olomidé and Werrason for destabilizing Les Marquis. But from day 1, it was already predictable that they would split. During their first official interview, Ferre Gola, Jus d’Ete Mulopwe, and Bill Clinton already gave signs that a breakup was coming with the word “me” being mentioned repeatedly.
Tensions grew when Bill Clinton signed a personal contract with Bracongo (Skol) pointing journalist Zacharie Bababswe as his personal manager. This created friction, since that the contract was for him personally and not for the group. Just before signing, Bill Clinton was linked to a possible return to Maison Mère with the involvement of Werrason’s wife. However, Bill demanded a house, a permanent salary and a percentage of the Bracongo (Skol) deal with Werrason. Some people even claim that Zacharie Bababswe had been sent on a mission to break up Les Marquis. Ferre himself sang about this towards the end in the song Qui Vivra Verra: “Basala campagne baboma Marquis, bakotisa ba masta ba boule mabe po ba bebisa vie na biso. Nzambe kaka ayebi.”
During the recording of their album Miracles, disagreements were more frequent and arguments often broke out. While shooting music videos, Bill Clinton even fought with Guy Boston, one of their administrators and also with Japonais. According to several people, these incidents led people close to the group, including Mère Jacquie Watunda, to suggest that they needed a president among them. A vote was held and Jus d’Ete Mulopwe received the most votes. This created dissatisfaction for Ferre and Bill, who refused to accept the outcome.
Years later, a man named president PEK, who used to work with Ferre, confirmed in an interview that he did with Teddy Mola, that Jus d’Ete had been appointed president and that both Ferre and Bill refused, because they did not imagine themselfs wearing uniforms under his leadership. Meanwhile, both of them began preparing their return to Kinshasa to promote the Miracles album. But each had prepared their own “12". Bill Clinton sent his people in Ngiri-Ngiri to recruit musicians, while Ferre did the same through his own staff, instead of melting their people together.
Both were supposed to return to Kinshasa together, but Ferre missed the flight (some say he did it on purpose). Despite this, both men received triumphant welcomes. The real problems began after their return: Ferre, rehearsing at Bibi Play with his musicians, expected Bill Clinton to join him since that he saw himself as the leader. At the same time, Bill Clinton expected Ferre to come to his rehearsals, since he considered himself the leader of Les Marquis. Bill, however, didn’t worry too much, since he had financial and logistical backing from donors and Bracongo. He went on TV announcing that he had recruited 36 musicians, baptizing them as les 36 Samouraïs and rebranding his band as Les Marquis Samouraïs.
Ferre, on the other side, lacked financial support and started to struggle. He sought reconciliation with Bill through various intermediaries, since the original plan was to promote Miracles with concerts at Stade des Martyrs, the Grand Hotel and a tour around Kinshasa. But reconciliation never worked out. Ferre continued on his own, naming his group Les Marquis de Beaux Garçons.
Meanwhile, Jus d’Ete Mulopwe crowned himself in Paris as Le Roi Marquis, but soon faced a leadership conflict with founding members Serge Mabiala, Japonais and Mimiche. They left to form Les Marquis Plus with Celezino, though their band received little support. Eventually, Mimiche Bass returned to Wenge Maison Mère. Jus d'Ete Mulopwe continued on his own with musicians like Djo Lockis, Gemerose and co and would enjoy succes with the 'EP' Eluka Makambo.
As for Ferre signing with Koffi. It is said that Ferre had already signed with him around the time Miracles was released and also different articles being written about. Unfortunately, since DigitalCongo removed their archives before 2013, the article about it since a decade not available anymore. It could be that he already signed, scammed Koffi and later on still ended up by joining. When Koffi later sued Ferre, when he left in 2006, the contract was showed in one of the interviews about it, showing that it had been signed in December 2004 and valid until December 2006, while Ferre officially joining Quartier Latin in May 2005.
Ferre who was in serious difficulty due to the lack of support tried to link up with Baby Ndombe. But Baby Ndombe refused still being mad how, he (Ferre), Bill and JDT didn't credit him in the idea of creating Les Marquis and also wanting to focus on his album Tour de Babel that he was preparing. Ferre Gola also tried to sign with Bralima (Primus), but failed. Vasco Mabiala claims that on the day Ferre was supposed to sign, Bralima’s directors met instead with Monib Production and Werrason’s wife (while Werrason was touring Europe with Maison Mère), and Ferre being chased away. Bill Clinton, meanwhile, capitalized on the fame of Miracles through public concerts, calling himself the leader of the 5ème Génération. Shortly after Ferre joined Quartier Latin, Bill Clinton started blaming Koffi Olomidé, accusing him of being the true cause of Les Marquis’ split. He also revealed that he was offered money to join Quartier Latin.

It seems like Wenge Masion Mere is the best "school" for making solo artists, because look at Fabregas, Ferre Gola, Bill Clinton, and Heritier Wata. Even those that aren't as consistent still came with power on their first album like Didier Lacoste, Jus d’Ete Mulopwe, and Celeo Scram.
You don't see that with their peers from Wemba and Koffi. If JB Mpiana gave Sakoko, Fudji, Djino, and Abraham proper attention instead of making them share BCBG with the old guard, they could have had a proper platform to jump-start a solo career.

Qs soon as I come back from Work I will have a few questions for you
-
People often point the finger at Koffi Olomidé and Werrason for destabilizing Les Marquis.

The thing is about two things one is hunger, the second is exposure, Wenge BCBG Members start at a disadvantage cause they get no exposure, they rehearshals are private and despite touring a lot they release one album every 15 years kn fact Metro Effacer Le Tablo had the time to join, record vocals for Balle De Match, leave, gwtting his vocals erased by Balle De Match and then being replaces by a Think Quadk, Quado to leave the Band, Metro to create a band, dismantle the band, and then come back to BCBG, re record his vocals and being om the album that left at least 7 or 8 years before the album releasing, hiw an artist can market themselves when there is so much time between albums?
While in Wenge since the beginning you had La zampa Playa open to the public of course with the public paying, and you literally had full concerts, new cries, new songs presented in front of La Zamba for everybody to see which gave fans and casual listeners to know the song already, the crie already and to be able to hear the finish bersion in the studio, that's how Musselu, Lelele, and many other cries after the Era of Bill and Celeo became success, the same for Heritier, Fabregas, Deplick and the many other artists post Ferre that's how they became big, the people were WATCHING them which gave a chance to KNOW them which later converted them into fans when they left, while jn BCBG when are you WATCHING, and KNOWING the artists? Fusee is probably the best or between the top three of the new generation in Congo but he has less Solo generique then Ambulance who can he be compared too, that guy Werrason took who sounds like Roi David, But Na Fillet's ex and now current Fabregas Atalaku Vegeta, even Cascadeur of Wasekwa have more generique then Fusee, for singers, they lack the hunger, that the wenge guys have, Chai have left Wenge since 10+ how many album did he published? Probably 1and with the Help of Werra Fongola Porta and that was 2 years ago, before that he was waiting for JB to fund the whole album despite JB already giving him half of the money of the proceedings even being mad that JB wasn't going to fund the whole album, is that hunger?
https://youtu.be/AwilUXOnUE0?si=juXcOkOvzGoRYWj-
And then what about Mignon? Despite everything in BCBG in terms of of exposure lacking he had hunger and had people genuinely believing that he was goi g to be the Fally of BCBG but what a disappointment he decided to become Fally's sidekick and man let me tell you I was at Fally's concert and people were vibing with the other artists, when Barhaam came he sanged his Yallabay song about Fally and probably only 50 out of 15k were singing with my Congolese female friend laughing their ass off from how cringe his performance was, I have never felt humiliated for someone else as I did for Mignon that day, that's where being a Fally sidekicks took him, if he did try to just focus on HIS OWN MUSIC who knows, and then Nono Fudji, do you still hear about Nono Fudji? So the reason why Wenge Musica Maison Mère wins is because of a combination of Exposure and hunger, while in BCBG Las because JB really treats them well they get either Lazy (hunger missing) or they get little exposure so nobody knows them

Why did Bill refused the offer from Koffi? He could have gotten the money from both Koffi and Skol tbh it is insane to think that the guys who refused to be Under a mew Leader actually became the most successful of the Les Marquis Groups even tho Ferre's rise is even more impressive since ehe started way more broke then Bill, and why Did Ferre decide to leave Quartier Latin all of a Sudden? Was Werra happy if Les Marquis dismantling, and about Baby Ndombe it is true the story of him and Mampata having a relationship behind Werra's back? Or it was rumours from the staff to kick him out
-
Joining Quartier Latin is a waste of time when you already have a lucrative contract with Bracongo, a set of instruments, a high salary like your former boss and his rival, a house and several contracts in your name to perform around Kinshasa and across Congo. It is an unwritten rule for former Wenge Musica 4x4, Wenge BCBG and Wenge Maison Mère musicians to join other bands outside their own clan, since that Wenge Musica had broken through on the Congolese music-scene without being part of Clan Langa Langa. That is the reason why, for example, Aimelia Lias first chose a solo career before eventually joining Wenge Maison Mère, instead of joining Quartier Latin immediatly after leaving Wenge BCBG. For these reasons, Ferre Gola was considered a traitor. The same for Titina Al Capone, although he was luckier, as he was an instrumentalist rather than a singer and him joining in Europe, returning to Kinshasa after 6 months and hype about him leaving Wenge BCBG already being over.
Ferre Gola left Quartier Latin because people around him pushed him to do so, to record his solo-album Sens Interdit, after Fally Ipupa released Droit Chemin. Just after Droit Chemin being released, Koffi Olomide made an interview with journalist Deblaison Wanga, saying that the person who would dare to record or come with a plan to record a solo-album within Quartier Latin, would automatically being fired.
Around the same time, Koffi tried to humiliate Ferre during a rehearsal by praising Bouro Mpela (who just rejoined) and calling him le transfert le plus cher, which made Ferre feel he would soon be sidelined. As a result, Ferre decided not to show up at the famous concert at Le Marignan of Bouya Mayola (I don't know if you know the story of Bouya Mayola). The same concert concert made people that attended the concert say that Fally wasn’t ready for a solo career (Droit Chemin became a succes 2 months later), after that Koffi unexpectedly requested his band to play Liputa without having rehearshed it, just to embarrass Fally. Ferre also did not appear at Elysée Montmartre, the concert where Bouro was presented and which marked Quartier Latin’s farewell show at the end of their long European tour. Fally also missed that show, as he suspected the concert promoter Badive of having an affair with his ex-wife Nicky Menga and chose instead to give a playback show somewhere else in Paris.
Regarding the disbanding of Les Marquis, just before the continuation of Wenge Maison Mère's European tour (2004-05), Werrason gave an interview in Kinshasa, where a journalist asked his opinion about the conflict between Bill Clinton and Ferre. Werrason proudly said that he knew it would happen with a facial expression suggesting he was happy about it. Later in Europe, just before the famous show at Brussels Event Brewery, Marc Tabu did an interview with him asked him about Les Marquis and whether he could at least wish them good luck and advice them, since that there were rumors about a leadership-war, but Werrason refused to speak about them and responded with a cold look.
According to Baby Ndombe himself, the rumors are fake. In numerous interviews from 2004 until today, he explained that after Adolphe Dominguez’s departure, the band remained unhappy because they were not paid for Bercy and the European tour. Werrason instead used the money that was left over to pay them, to pay for buses for soccer teams Bilima, Vita, and Imana, trying to regain public sympathy outside his hardcore fanbase, which had turned to Adolphe. Them not seeing them being credited for it, but just Werrason himself when performing at Stade des Martyrs, frustrated them even more. To calm Baby Ndombe and Ferre Gola down, Werrason promised them percentages for concerts abroad (African countries) and the right to get contracts abroad for the group. Baby Ndombe even showed those contracts that were signed by him and Ferre on TV shortly after his departure.
When the first UK trip was planned, Baby was suspended a week before it, after fighting with the guards during a public rehearsal at La Zamba Playa who had seriously beaten his friend. Because of the fight, he received a one-month suspension. In the letter of suspension he received, the admins wrote in the letter that they were “happy” to suspend him instead of using professional wording. At the same time, he was stripped of his role as Chef de discipline or Chef de répétition (I don't remember which function it was since it's more than 20 years ago), which was given to Aimelia. Instead of staying calm, Baby Ndombe made the mistake of going on TV, to talk about his suspension, saying that it was unfair and also openly attacking Aimelia and saying he lacked the intellectual abilities for that position. When Maison Mère returned, Baby’s suspension was extended to an indefinite suspension. During that period, rumors spread that Baby had slept with Werrason’s wife. Interviews in both the UK and Kinshasa that Werrason made, made the rumor becoming stronger because of saying “If I tell you why Baby was suspended, you will hate him and never forgive him.” After 15/20 years, people close to Werrason and WMM camp revealed that the story wasn't true and the hint Werrason made, was about the affair Baby Ndombe had with Mbilia Bel, who had once been Tabu Ley’s second wife during the 1980s (they had even one child together). At some point, before Baby Ndombe's suspension, Tabu Ley would sometimes go to Werrason to complain about Baby dating Mbilia Bel.
A few weeks after his suspension, Baby Ndombe faced financial problems and was even chased away from his hotel, for being to late to pay the bills. Baby Ndombe tried several times to reconcile with Werrason, first through King Kester Emeneya, but Werrason drove away upon seeing Baby’s car, when arriving at King Ranch (Emeneya's house). Later, Baby Ndombe tried to reconcile through Simaro Lutumba, by visiting him home, but Werrason ordered his guards not to open the door (Bill Clinton referred to this in the intro of Vous Me Reverrez). Even his father, Pépé Ndombe, tried, but Werrason refused to meet him. They all advised Baby to start a solo career. He received offers from donors to join Wenge BCBG and Koffi also invited him to Quartier Latin, but Baby refused and preferred to start a solo career, recruiting musicians from Opération Dragon (Maison Mère’s second team) to form his own band.
When Les Marquis started, Baby was working to get into Europe by applying for a visa and even started through Claude Maluma negotiations with Bralima for sponsordeal, but after seeing their first interview he stopped it, being dissapointed that they didn't credit him as one of the intiators of Les Marquis and decided to focus on his solo-career. At the same time, his picture was put on the poster of their first official concert at LSC and people wondering where he (Baby) was, when not seeing him. The same for Serge Mabiala, who prefered to stay in Viva Tendance of Papa Wemba, because of not getting the guarantee to get paid. But when planning their second concert in Brussels, the concertpromoter insisted his presence, which him also (re)join Les Marquis and later on also participate on the album Miracles, putting the song Mariage.

I always heard the Bouya Mayola name especially.from Koffi but never really knew the hisotry behind the name or who this person was, do you think the attack on his friend was a 12? Cause tbh I think it was cause knowing how Werrason isnI highly doubt he would have given Baby and the other tbe percentage of the contract he was promising them, and why do you think Baby Ndombe career didn't plan out like Ferre and Fally, about Ferre how did he manage to go from a hated ex Wenge Musica Maison Mère member to this massive star especially when he started behind Bill in terms of contracts and of solo experience and also with a huge part of Maisun Mee fans who where against him?
-
I won’t say what Bouya Mayola used to do (I don’t know if it’s true), but it was apparently the same thing that Pathy Mubenga, Professeur Paulo Santa, Foguy Torreau, B’Affaire Makululu, etc., who were living in Holland, used to do. Bouya Mayola was also a sapeur at the same time. Like many who lived in Holland, he later settled in Belgium. He was apparently close to Defao and even had a song dedicated to him about his life, how his father abandoned him when he married another woman, but him managing to succeed in life, etc.. He later became close to Koffi Olomidé and had a song dedicated to him there as well.

About what happened in Brussels, I believe that Bouya Mayola just had his moment like many others close to Koffi. According to rumors, everyone around him witnessed something like that. For example, it had been said that Koffi once visited or stayed at Malou Bomboka’s house and stole her video recorder. However, years later, Laura Tendance asked Koffi about Bouya Mayola, and Koffi said that the story wasn’t true and that Bouya even came to his house to ask for forgiveness. He gave the same answer to another journalist ten years ago, who also asked about Bouya Mayola, saying he didn’t understand why everyone hated him.
I don’t know if Ferre and Baby Ndombe ever received their percentages, because Wenge Maison Mère is complicated when it comes to payment lol. But you could see their signatures on contracts when Baby Ndombe showed them on tv. In 2001, they toured many African countries (Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Equatorial Guinea), still capitalizing on the success of Solola Bien. Thinking about it, I don’t believe the promises were kept, since there was an interview with someone from Wenge Maison Mère saying that many singers didn’t want to go to Equatorial Guinea for New Year’s Eve 2002 because they hadn’t been paid for months and Ferre Gola only showed up at the last minute. By the way, when returning from the Kenya trip, they had to collect their money at Gallery le Fleur, with cameras filming Ferre, Baby, JDT, and others receiving their salaries, wanting to claim that the rumors about them not being paid were false. Baby Ndombe himself revealed in the many interviews he did in the mid 2000s, that they wanted to create Les Marquis already during the Double Zenith tour.
Baby Ndombe’s career didn’t take off because when Tour de Babel came out, the hype about his departure was already over. It was also not easy for him to promote his album, since that the WMM camp was working against him behind the scenes. At the same time, people still had in their minds the image of him having slept with Werrason’s wife, which caused him to lose respect, while it was false. Whenever he tried to promote his album, journalists mostly asked about the story of Sylvie Mampata or his past in Maison Mère. Additionally, he eventually became US-based like Jordan Kusa, while being in Kinshasa is better for Congolese music. But living in Kinshasa at that time had become complicated for him given everything going on. You need to be mentally strong to handle all he went through and the many sabotages he witnessed.
About Ferre succeeding, already just before releasing the album, people were comparing him to Fally because of Koffi, who made them rivals within Quartier Latin and hyping them as “les 2 F’s.” Due to the succes of Droit Chemin, people were curious to see if Ferre Gola would do better and how his album would be. As for Ferre Gola, success didn’t come immediately. The reception of Sens Interdit was initially cold, but after two months it slowly became a huge success, following rumors that he “lost his head.” Around the same period, he signed with Bralima and gave successful public concerts across Kinshasa. The press wanted to start a “new JB vs Werrason” comparison, which both JB and Werrason tried to minimize on TV, stating that G5 doesn’t exist since the solo artists came from their bands. JB Mpiana was often mad in interviews when being asked if the Ferre vs Fally was the new JB vs Werra and if G5 existed. Ferre Gola’s success would also grew in Europe due to many DVDs of his Kinshasa shows. He even received contracts for a tour, but the demand of visas were rejected, only to succeed towards the end of the year.
