Title: Congolese Music Evolution
Post by: beberita243 on March 24, 2026, 21:21
I miss when Congolese music had strong themes. For example, the album Titanic by JB Mpiana and Wenge BCBG in 1998 was inspired by the Titanic story, and Monde Arabe by Koffi Olomide and Quartier Latin in 2004 was based on Arabian culture. Music videos were more creative and felt like short movies rather than simple performances. Dancers and singers wore themed costumes and performed well-organized choreography, which made the visuals more exciting and memorable. Artists also used to dress very fancy and experiment with different outfits such as police uniforms, church clothing, and other creative costumes for shooting album covers which made each feel unique and entertaining.
