Serious question to all Rumba lovers: How are we genuinely enjoying the music released over the last decade?

Good day to everyone,

I’m asking this because I truly want to understand the community's perspective. How are you guys genuinely enjoying or connecting with the Rumba songs released recently, or even over the past decade?

As a fan of the genre, I am struggling with the current direction of the music, and I have a few specific questions for you all:

- The Overuse of Mabanga: Are you honestly okay with hearing 20+ shout-outs (mabanga) packed into a single track?

- Ruining the Intro: How do you feel when an artist drops names right at the start, completely killing the build-up of the melody and beat?

- Intruding on the Chorus: Is it frustrating to you when name-dropping bleeds into the chorus, overshadowing the actual singing and melodic   progression?

- Sonic Monotony: Are you satisfied with artists releasing formulaic songs back-to-back? There are rarely changes in tempo, no variation in drums or percussion, and the seben (the energetic dance bridge) is virtually non-existent.

- Mabanga Over Substance: It feels like the main priority of modern Rumba is satisfying sponsors and stretching out the track length, rather than focusing on musical quality.

- Bloated Albums: We are in 2026, yet our artists are still dropping massive 30+ song albums split into 2 or 4 volumes, with almost every single track  dragging on for over 5 minutes.

- Do you actually support this strategy and this way of making music? I have my own strong opinions on this, but I really want to hear yours first.

Thank you, and let’s talk!

i am with you, there is a need of change, just as some consider that it had to become like that because what was happening before became boring its been like that long enough not to either revert to old model of things or invent something else
