Title: I took time to listen to Duc Herode Mandiangu's album
Post by: pistis.balu on July 26, 2026, 15:14
I took time to listen to Duc Herode Mandiangu's album and all I can say is wow. Quartier Latin musicians really helped Duc Herode. The lyrics as well were deep - I have a feeling they were written by Felix Wazekwa

Even Binina ? Koffi nailed the song to the point I had thought all along that he wrote it for Mandiangu. He remixed it during the time he fell off so I don’t exactly remember what.. it must’ve been some 10 years ago

Shout out to Aurlus Mabele also (RIP). He did a great job on Pepo

Back in the day you didn’t need to know to sing to release a good album - get donors to fund the album, find the backing of the gold standard Paris session artists of the time or known band to play the current dances, then you had the makings of a good album. As much of a struggle the genre has gotten to break out, this is no longer possible.

Mandiangu almost ruined some songs by singing himself on his own album kiekie

Binina is Koffi's but the rest are definitely Wazekwa's. You can tell apart between Koffi's writing and Wazekwa's writing. Wazekwa writes like Papa Lutumba
