The old Taxi pour Bercy videotape is back on YouTube. The quality isn't as good as the version uploaded by INA Congo, but it's still great to have this archive available on YouTube. I also hope to see the 100% Célébrité videotape uploaded someday, where JB was interviewed by Yves Kambala about his then-upcoming Bercy concert. I'd also love to see the footage from FIKIN 2001, just before Bercy, as well as his triumphant return to Kinshasa after his long European tour of 2000–01, which also included the concert at GHK

I still need to understand what was going on inside Jb Mpiana's brain to see that concert of the ppu's in kin and still say "naa I prefer my team of kibens and co". Just imagine that generation of pipyiu going against Maison mere and QL it would've made the battle more interesting.

That whole situation still makes me scratch my head after all these years and the more the former pipiyu’s speak of it. You form a young hungry collective, showcase them a Bercy, then just abandon them like nothing. A true “Why tho” situation
The man always enjoyed his comfortable levels rather than taking a level of risk

To be fair, the ngulu affaire ruined JB Mpiana's plan for Les Pipiyus de BCBG. He intended for them to participate in Anti-Terror, but everything got messed up when his visa requests kept getting denied.

also dont forget that the old guard took it spiritual to seal their spots, there was at some point in early 2003 to a possibility that either they return to join the band or jb goes to perform with them ,neither happened because then the guys who saw that their status was in high jeopardy made sure to surround jb a loooooooooooot and have that emotional thing of they got his back in troublesome moments aswell and when it happens like that those guys are ruthless to avoid any competition, something similar happened with kakol in maison mere when indirectly because of the conflicts of ferre and wata patcho, tshetshe de bal and cambodge ca,fast forward 22 years there still has never been a single drummer who played a minute of an official song because kakol then moved from the "peripheral" pire petit ya palais way down in the hierarchy of dearest favorites to become like "werra's shadow" like he was proudly calling himself
-
We can't blame the ngulu affaire because the ppu were ready to go back and even got one of jb's staff to talk to jb on the phone about them returning but jb refused and only wanted Kilimanjaro to return which forced them to leave. Jb was offered a contract for zenith to perform along with les pipiyu but he still declined lol.

ACMCO really lost its objectivity after the Wenge split. Why split three award categories; best star of the year, best song of the year and best band of the year into separate "best of year " and "Most Popular of the year".. It doesn't make sense. Was it due to the ceremony of 1999 which left both JB Mpiana and Werrason frustrated ?
You can sense that journalists were on the payroll of artists or felt guilty because of accepting money from certain artists. For example, the success of Attentat was mixed, but Koffi still received different awards, while Longue Histoire was bigger success. Was it out of guilt for promoting Bercy? or did Koffi survive the voting because of most journalists ranked him third, while King Kester being disadvantaged because of being stingy towards them?
Although the winners being known, I remember that Visa 2000 (which was pro-Werra), published an article claiming that it was Werrason who had been voted by ACMCO as Best Star of the Year and that Bana OK and Zaiko Langa Langa had been voted Best Band of the Year because of them having the most stable line-ups and no recorded departures. They never mentioned that there were actually two separate categories for at least three of the awards nor did they publish the full rankings or reveal who finished second or third
I believe that the criticism led ACMCO to merge most of the previously separated categories back into one, with the exception of Song of the Year, which remained split but the category "most popular song of the year" being changed into "best composition of he year". Ironically, this ended up frustrating Werrason because "sans te toucher" won best song of the year instead of "13 Ans," even though "13 Ans" was the biggest hit of the year. In fact, "13 Ans" was not even nominated in that category, while blandine being selected in the place and receiving "palme d'argent". Jeannette would win the best composition of the year and JB Mpiana end up on par with Werrason as best star of the year. Werrason would later openly criticize ACMCO for this in an interview.
Then, in 2002, ACMCO once again split several award categories. best artist of the year was divided into "meilleur artiste de l'année" and "meilleur artiste musicien de l'année," while best concert of the year was split into "l'événement de l'année" and "meilleur concert de l'année." However, that edition did not create much controversy, probably because of Wenge BCBG not being nominated in any category.

haha this reminds me of nathy lokole and co of ndule awards literally fist fighting because they had to give best song to maboko pamba but also had to give it to a fally song so they ended up making two lists one with deliberation as song of the year another with maboko pamba

Until this day I wonder on which criteria they decided to select Deliberation. Une Minute and Nyokalesse from A2BM were more popular than Deliberation. Was Aziza Makukula among Ndule Awards sponsors and did they select the song to make him happy ? I remember how people were seriously mad and confused for not seeing Maboko Pamba win the best song of the year award. As well for Meje 30 not winning the best female singer of year (but that was due to the scandal around her). However, the following year Maboko Pamba still ended up by winning the best song of the year award
