yeah,spot on,jb needs to let his musicians fully use their creativity and not forcing them to stick to bcbg/zaiko identity for sebene and tchatcho for rumba
the guitarists especially a guy like patou has proven he can play diffefrently in the few songs he was allowed to,so why sticking with bcbg identity which is kinda old school ALL THE TIME

Excellent analysis archos. JB needs to let the guys reach their full potential, he forces them to play by the book, Patou tries to spice things up but I must say he seems to have lost the steam too, he's not really meant to be at a band like BCBG, if that guy were to join Maison Mere he would shock rhumba lovers with his guitar works.

for me both groups have fallen apart artistically for a long period, I don't see why there is so much worry for BCBG they released quel est ton probleme which a success and the generique was very good along with good songs of sunda bass, segiun and genta whats the worry. Wenge Musica Maison Mere since temoignage has fell apart big time more than BCBG especially with depature of flamme kapaya artistically they have not been great the malewa albums and temps present were poor noticeably the sound of temps present they haven't impressed not even with a rumba-sebene song the end products are just poor

What is killing these bands is the many rhumbas they do against the number of sebene songs,they are all failing. The current arrangement of sebene/generiques is also poor, too much coupe decalle and forklore.

I beg to disagree DJ SLY, who's gona dance all the time? listen to Wera's sebenes they all go for not less than 16 minutes with very tight and faster rhythm! who at the age of 30 and above gona dance to that kind of music. To me rhumba is not bad so long as it well arranged. and again I wanted to say to whoever can tell Wera to stop dancing like 20 year old boy and just behave like the boss just like Koffi does most of the time. He is old now to dance too much.

The problem these days is the dream having young ones that one day they will go solo. By this, they want a song each in an album to showcase their thing and that can only be done through a slow track with little contribution from other group members. The album then suffers......

Impossible task, when Kimbangu was at Maison Mere, the chap you call young Makaba was either on mi-solo or rhythm if Kimbangu was present,that should tell you a lot about who the real soloist was. It was the same even with Japonais and Kapaya, Kapaya forced Werra to push Japonais to rhythm as clearly Kapaya was more powerful on solo, the same happened when Viva La Musica soloist Thierry Mogratana joined Maison Mere, he was stuck on mi-solo and only played as soloist when Kapaya was absent and only on a couple of songs on each of the albums released during his time at Maison Mere.
Arc En Ciel or Petit Makaba has now caught up with the style that Kapaya and other great soloists set as standards at the band but he is miles behind Kimbangu and the likes of Christian Bombole who went straight to the number one spot as lead soloists in their time at Maison Mere.

When I pointed out that Young Makaba would knock out the dancing soloist you guys were making the same noise; Flesh Ingeta will shut y'all up. lead guitar in Zamba has never sounded any better, that's what look out for nowadays.

Which dancing soloist?
You're trying to compare a soloist who only started recording last year to seasoned and much more experienced soloists. Yes, Arc en Ciel knows how to play lead but Maison Mere has had better soloists, there's nothing new Arc En Ciel is bringing to Maison Mere, all thes songs he's been playing and learning on were recorded by great soloists who have moved on, bring this debate when he's recorded 3 albums!

Am the person who told you that Kimbangu has nothing to prove, he proved his worth as a true soloist when he was with Bill. If I recall well, I think you are the fella who said Arc En Ciel made Kimbangu to run away yet Arc En Ciel was restricted to rhythm and mi-solo throughout the time Kimbangu was at Maison Mere.
I have said it and I repeat, Kimbangu whose idol is Flamme Kapaya and Flamme Kapaya himself have the same style and make slight mistakes when they play because they want to play the notes really fast and no one else touches them. On Christian Bombole I have always said he's more complete and never makes any silly mistakes just like Patou Solo,these two play solo effortlessly and crisp clear. I have also said Japonais Maladi/Maladji and Maitre Ficarre have the same style which is old skool.
That Arc En Ciel chap you say is good is only trying to play to the standards left by other great soloists who have left Maison Mere, he's a good soloist but cannot match Kimbangu and Kapaya.
As for rumbling about other key members of Maison Mere, I really have no clue what you're on about, I am one person who follows all the bands and I have my own favourite musicians within certain bands for instance I know in Maison Mere that there are excellent singers like Miel,Eboa,Merlin Bouton and Café Roum and there also some good singers like Taddet, Deplik and others and I also don't hide the fact that Werrason himself is a shit singer!!!!

exactly kimbangu proved his talent with bill, and got a bigger name with werra,just like christian before
kimbangu left a mark for ever in maison mere in just one year and half whereas makaba bikorino arc en ciel is one his third year as the lead soloist and is yet to make a strong statement of his talent
maybe in ingeta it happens,wait and see

Voila, Christian went straight to the top spot after leaving Afande's Generation A where he recorded two albums and soloist,he also played rhythm on the very albums, Werra did not have to test him by being an understudy of another big soloist infact if I remember Well,Thierry Mogratana came back after Flamme left but could not just rub off Christian who had established himself,in no time,Mogratana disappeared and went back to Europe with his guitar he called Jesus Christ!! :lol:

If I recall Christian like Roi David wanted to come back but alas; you would think that if they made such an impact Werra would bring back in a jiffy :mrgreen: The rumble will cease when Flesh Ingeta is out because Arc isn't fleeing like the rest his solo is enriching Zamba...

The thread was about a video posted by Sly to explain that Werrason lets artists to freely express. Clear!!! Not to start comparing kimbangu and others.
Now in line with the thread, I concur with Sly, Maison Mere infact from genesis has been a free participation band if I can call it that way. Werrason is seen as superior to JB because of this. JB is BCBG and because of this framework, there is less exposure of his artists. The other point is JB is allergic to change because in his world, he thinks when he changes the artists frequently, he may loose the old wenge style which werrason has. I can guarantee you, if all those older guys, all of them including ficarre, segiun mignon were to have been replaced long time ago, bcbg would have changed style for the better.

I also wonder here I have Congolese friends in Paris and Angola and I think they are unemployed..... I am afraid of asking them what they do..yet I understand Luanda is a very expensive place...

There are many opportunities in Europe that's why everyone wants to travel to Europe, you could have no education and job in Africa but when you get to Europe and find a job,you find that you're getting a decent wage that makes you pay all your bills and you can even afford to buy a decent car in one salary if you work hard ie because most countries here have a minimum wage that each employer has to respect unlike in Africa where employers pay whatever they like and they are not prosecuted so all these musicians you see do some jobs on the side as opposed to scrounging at Werra's house waiting for clothes and food and concert allowances which are not given to them sometimes. :lol:
If I tell you what jobs I did in the past you would be shocked! Am glad I did those jobs and I have now moved on to bigger things,no one can lie to me!!

It would be nice if Roi David because those atalukus Werra has now have really failed him just like Ferre. Brigade was the real deal. I have lost faith in Diego, I think the style at Maison Mere isn't his or he's lost steam, he was ok at Tonya Tonya now he's even told off when he goes on stage at Zamba Zamba,fans call for him to stop so I don't see him lasting long since Werra listens to his fans a lot.
On Arc En Ciel, I repeat, he's really stepped up his game, he's a good soloist but he is still below Kapaya,Kimbangu and Bombole,those are great soloists!!

diego's problem is that he doesnt seem to work anymore his voice has faded a lot,the difference between his voice in concerts and in studio is too big whereas in tonya tonya and his first years in maison mere the voice was the same in both cases
and like you i think maison mere's tempo is a bit too fast for him,he would have been good in bcbg or quarttier latin
i dont know if roi david is back in france but not long ago he was in kin and said he would return to maison mere
he's much better than all of those remaining guys

Exactly, Diego's voice has gone down a bit. The tempo at Maison Mere is too fast,he's failed to fit in but I also think he's a bit lazy coz if he can create something interesting that the fans like he can be on top,i think the fans have lost patience that's why last time Werrason asked him in front of the fans what he was doing and he always puts him to the test, Kirikou may just kick him out.
