PRIVATE LIFE AND PERSONALITY
Bataringé Hervé Gola was born on 3rd of march 1976 in kinshasa,and is the 2nd child in a family of 4 men(Thierry,him,Guy and Orly the youngest of them)
he grew in kinshasa but in most holidays went back to his region of Bas-Congo(with cities like Matadi,Boma,Muanda) where through his mother Mama Marie Makiese he will know two future artists Jean Pierre Butukondolo aka Jipson and Jean Bedel Mpiana as all three respective mothers are members of the same association.
In his private life,Hervé is a rather calm and laid back guy but also sometimes quite open,he has the reputation of getting angry very fast and very often though and also has carried throughout his career an image of a guy very stint on money
his other big passion apart music is football,which he played at school as a winger
he did not reach a high level as a student,despite Mama Marie wanting him to become a doctor or a lawyer,as he kept skipping class because of his passion for music.
He was married from 2002 to 2013 to Sabrina,an Algerian woman, and is father of 12 "official" kids but 17 in reality(he mentions some of them like Mathias,Caprice,Melina,Talliane...)
like himself admitted on tv,he loves children and would not mind having much more of them than he already has.
ROLE MODELS AND DEBUT AS A SINGER
In his childhood,he had several role models, Pepe Kalle and his Empire Bakuba,King Kester and his Victoria Eleison, Franco and Ok Jazz,Carlyto Lassa...and more recently the likes of Babia Chokoro,JB mpiana and Papa Wemba and he did not hesitate walking for several kilometers just to have a sight of them in live concerts and even though he was punished at home because of that he keptdoing it.
His first contact with music as a singer is in a street group with the likes of Rio kazadi,his brother Alba,Pascal Mavita(guitarist in Wazekwa's band Cultura Pays Vie) who were his close neighbours. He started following his mother to church and then learned to sing with proper instruments but its clear for his mother that singing is not his future job but just something he can do in his spare time.
Apart from singing at church,he continued playing music on the streets and replaced Tutu Caludji in the group Staff London, Tutu went to the band Promise Musica and later Wenge Musica.
Ferre became lead singer of Staff London alongside the likes of Gentamicine Lisimo,Biva Ray,Fiston Zamuangana Savimpi and some other guys less known musicians.
When he moved from the area of Kasavubu to Bandal,he joined the group Rumba des Jeunes with Fiston Savimpi. It was at Rumba des Jeunes that he edged closer to professional music as they performed as curtain raisers for bigger groups like Defao's Big stars or Wenge Musica.
In 1995,before a wenge musica concert,they performed in a little face-to-face show with New City de La Bogania the group of his future rival Fally Ipupa and the likes of Chikito of Les PPU,Djino Equalizer etc. It was after that concert that Savimpi who was spotted by Didier Masela then introduced him to Werrason joined Wenge Musica. Hervé himself joined Wenge Musica two weeks later the same day as mbonda player and drummer Seguin Mignon at a holiday fair under the guidance of Werrason and JB mpiana despite rumours later on that they did not like each other.
At that time he was still a raw talent,rather shy,still learning how to maintain his voice in shape for a whole concert, and also from his own confession a bad dancer.
His most popular appearance in a Wenge Musica was at the offical Pentagone album presentation concert at studio Mama Angebi where he performed as an atalaku,replacing Tutu Caludji who was on suspension.
One year later when conflicts appeared in Wenge Musica,Hervé who had by now been ''baptised'' as Ferré in reference to the fashion brand Gianfranco Ferré performed with the Wenge Musica camp known as "Ba Japonais" comprised of Werrason,Adolphe and Didier Masela but never in the other Wenge Musica camp called "Bana Mindele" comprised of JB Mpiana, Alain Makaba,Blaise Bula,Alain Mpela etc whereas the rest of other musicians were performing with both groups.
When the Wenge Musica split finally happened,he first tried to join the camp Wenge Bcbg led by JB Mpiana but he was rejected by Blaise Bula and Aimelia who were directing rehearsals in absence of leader JB, he then went to Werrason and Adolphe and was accepted in the group which came to be known as Wenge Musica Maison Mere and that was his turning point.

Thank you archos, one thing a keep getting from all these biographies done so far is that all these musicians did not just start yesterday, Its a serious process that starts at a tender age.

the debut of wenge musica maison mere marks the complete transformation of hervé gola aka ferré chair de poule
fans of wenge musica 4X4 had known a rather shy guy who was given minutes here and there,and limited in terms of looks and dancing
fans of wenge musica maison mere and later wenge maison mere will discover a complete artist,whose "physical attributes" are much more improved under guidance of adolphe dominguez and werrason who becomes like a second father for him,with full blessings of mama marie
its starts from the release of intervention rapide where ferré dominates "tenor section" of the group composed of adjani sesele and didier lacoste and is given the role of chief of discipline
one year later when the group releases album solola bien, he is the first singer ever of the group to have opportunity of releasing a song(other songs were released by leaders werra,adolphe,masela aswell as artistic director japonais maladi,chef d'orchestre christian mabanga aswell are atalaku bill clinton who is credited generiques)
that song is vita imana,and it is a massive success in DRC and congo brazza,ferré has matured as a singer and like werrason says "chair de poule,this is how you've grown"
wenge musica maison mere has a strong singers lineup but ferré is then the one who shines the most and one year later when the group is about to be the second ever african group(or artist to perform in prestigous hall of bercy in paris,administator didier masela and chef d'orchestre christian mabanga both leave the group
ferré becomes chef d'orchestre of future wenge maison mere(due to departure of didier masela,owner of the label wenge musica) and becomes even more important in the group as soon after bercy second leader adolphe dominguez is frozen out
they start recording werrason's first solo album kibuisa mpimpa in early 2001 but meanwhile tour in africa and europe and a conflict happens in the group as several musicians threaten to refuse continuing studio session if they are not paid or even leave the group
those guys are jdt mulopwé,japonais,mimiche bass,flamme kapaya and joined by celeo,ferré is not with them and goes to "betray" them to werra
thankfully for werra,he manages with the help of some of his staff members to convince them going back to europe and record kibuisa mpimpa,with two songs "offered" to werra by ferré and which as we know is a tremendous success
once more,ferré has gone forward as an artist,and werrason hugs him in front of other musicians and tells him "you made me forget about mpiano"
ferré's authority in the group aswell as he is the one werra gives full responsability to recruit and test musicians when he is out of DRC or when he is not at rehearsals
after kibuisa mpimpa's it's time for another group album with now other musicians allowed to release songs as former administrators and chiefs except ferré and japonais,are gone
but before release of that album,the group performs at zenith for two consecutive days in 2002 and as usual ferré shines both in terms of singing and dancing
the release of group album a la queue leu leu gives further indication about ferré's importance in the group as he is the only one except leader werra to have at least two songs (chetani and victime d'amour)
his success leads to interest of other groups like quartier latin (despite friendship between two leaders) whose leader koffi does not hesitate to say on tv that ferré is along with his own singer fally his idol,and he is also contacted by a rich donor of bcbg,kardozo muamba
koffi proposes him a brand new mercedes plus one house,whereas kardozo muamba offers 20 000 dollars but ferre prefers remaining loyal to werrason
during the same year,when the group is arrested in brussels ferré stands by werra confirming that they are artists whereas there were "ngulus" on that list
in his private life,ferré gets married and this progressively leads to conflicts between him and group's administration and various staffs
in fact in order to get french papers after his wedding,ferré has to go to france often and staff and administration keep telling werrason that he plans to stab werra in the back by going solo after recording an album
the more times goes on the more relationship becomes different as ferré seems too independent and werra believes what staffs tell him
ferré goes to see his mother to ask for advice about what is happening and she tells him to leave the group and dedicate his life to God but ferré does not listen to that advice and remains in the group
during the european tour,there is another conflict in the group but its quickly over but one year later in 2004 when the group is in United Kingdom,ferré goes to brussels to buy his new cars and take care of his three kids he has there
in the meantime,other musicians are once again frustrated by money issues,japonais,mimiche,bill clinton,celeo,flamme kapaya,heritier and co( almost 70 per cent of the group) threaten not to return to kinshasa if not paid enough
when the group is back in DRC,ferré,mimiche,japonais,bill clinton remain in europe due to similar reasons with ferré aswell as their disagreement over money
jdt who is in hospital after his accident also remains in europe,and once in kinshasa the group through their spokesman sankara dekunta seriously insult them and especially ferré whose mother is even insulted
when ferre hears it,he becomes determined to leave the group and in kinshasa his mother cant hide her tears on tv when asked about insults directed towards her and she replies "werra thank you for making my son the artist and star he is,but one day you'll regret what you did to both of us"
nevertheless,mama marie tries to sort things between ferré and werra but werra refuses to pick up her calls and ferré upset by the way she was insulted does not want to hear anything

wow no idea,ferre never talks about him but last i heard of him was in kibuisa mpimpa days when he attended a maison mere concert
aimelia and blaise rejected ferré because they though he was sent by werra adolphe and didier to spy them and steal their strategies
today they are in good terms even though ferré used to upset aimelia a lot in maison mere days thanks to his status of chef d orchestre
blaise bula regretted later,not having accepted ferré,and jb was disappointed,its missing out on ferré which lead to arrival of chai ngenge

:D Vieux Nsone looks a like calm guy but what he does to his musicians is surprising as he hits them by surprise. But glad with the evolution of ferre gola the day he release a full complete well arranged album like miracle on his own he will definitely be in my list as the one of the best, i'll be waiting

werra just watched and let it go,even zacharie bababaswe told him he was letting a massive team go away like that
its after they left that he really tried doing what he should have done,as he sent ma mpata personally to negotiate with them,and also he asked skol to support him to bring them back and journalist yves kambala was used as their negotiator

Interesting story there on Chetani Gola, The fact that Werre did not do anything on musicians pay is a clear indication that he himself conspired in the whole scheme. And again why was Koffi blamed for taking in Ferre even after it was clear there was a serious fall out between Werra and Ferre?

Whoever was mad at Koffi for taking Ferre and Ferre for going to Quatier Latin is stupid because Ferre didn't come straight from Maison Mere he came from Les Marquis and even if he came from Maison mere why get mad at him because him and Werra had a fallout and Werra was also doing Ferre and the other band members dirty.

There were no need of even asking why he left went to QL Band , you are right and i think it was health for his growth as well .That combination of Ferre , Fally and Soleil Wanga and co was the best Koffi Olomide QL band of all the time on my opinion but where is Soleil Wanga and why he is not succcessful as his peers in the QL band ? Archos and others please share with us i see him as one of the Fally and Ferre generation musician

after release of album miracles with les marquis,ferré chair de poule and bill clinton plan return to kinshasa while jdt is still waiting for his french papers
But in the meantime ferré is contacted again by koffi who is aware of the growing tension in the group(fight between bill and celezino,bill and japonais,bill and the secretary of the group who was recruited by ferre to name a few)
they agree for a 2 year contract and 30 000 dollars, 13 being paid before his arrival,and the rest being given to him once he fully participates in the group
but to disturb people about koffi destroying les marquis,they agree that ferre would come to kinshasa and pretend forming his group then shortly after leave it to join quartier latin so that he comes with the status of a free artist
bill clinton who had arrived in kinshasa one week before ferré and who got instruments throught his contract with skol attacked koffi on tv saying he was the man who destroyed les marquis
ferre then spent a couple of weeks with his group "les marquis des beaux garcons"with musicians like nicodem,his own brother guy aswell as a couple of musicians he had tested himself in maison mere(awulu wala and co)
then he goes back to europe quickly to sign his contract with koffi and rejoin kinshasa as a new quartier latin member
this is what happens during summer of 2005 and more precisely in june,as ferre and koffi return to kinshasa and a press conference announces his arrival in the group
one day before the concert of grand hotel where he will be officially presented to fans,ferré is lucky to avoid controversy as an incident happens between him and a cab driver he had hired for some hours so he could make his food shopping
in fact they had agreed a certain amount ferré would pay him when its over but when that time comes ferré hands the driver 1/4 of the amount they agreed and when the driver reminds him about it ferré slaps him and tells him "i am ferré you should feel honoured to be my driver even for free" throws the money on the guy's faces and locks door of his house
luckily for ferré, his neighbours paid the driver and it avoided a big incident
the day of the concert,as expected ferré is officially presented to quartier latin fans and showcases his dancing and singing talent
and few days after,when ferré is also presented to fans in a popular concert in the area of tshangu in kinshasa,an area quite clearly dominated by werrason fans
during this concert, there are several incidents between quartier latin fans and maison mere fans as koffi is taunting them by coming to perform "on their territory" and with their children ferré
after that concert,ferré receives a lot of pressure from his family to leave quartier latin as they fear for his security but he does not listen to them and remains in the group and quickly becomes a major member of quartier latin
in the same year,koffi adds to the generique of his sponsor skol a remix of his monde arabe hit silivi just to give quartier latin fans a taste of ferré in a quartier latin songs
from january to july of 2006 he actively participates to studio sessions of danger de mort where he has a song insecticide,it should have actually been two songs(insecticide and mercure) but other members are unhappy about it so koffi abandons that idea
ferre's influence in quartier latin grows so much that koffi ponders giving him chef d'orchestre role instead of fally ipupa who was given an album to keep him happy while treating ferré like a prince
nevertheless,koffi still has not paid ferré the rest of the money they had agreed and ferré,who reached his goal of gaining a bit more experience and benefiting from exposure of quartier latin to reclaim a strong popularity in congo,uses this to start planning a solo career earlier than the 2 years agreed
he then starts missing concerts based on that argument and going to europe when he wants or in other cities of europe when the group is there when he wants and secretly start programming his album in belgium
to punish him koffi takes back the volkswagen he offered him and gives it to fally(his strategy of trying to make at least one of them happy ends up making him lose both) and hands him a long suspension which ferré rubbishes and when koffi decides to take him to court,its intervention from zacharie bababaswé and wrester edingwe moto na ngenge which convince him to withdraw it
ferre then goes back to kinshasa to start his solo career,contacts several songwriters(kibens,vigas,poba,eldorado,guy kashama to name a few) and visits papa lutumba and jb mpiana at concerts and they give him full blessings,aswell as some sorcerers to" ensure his career is succesful"
he goes back to europe to accelerate recording of his solo album named sens interdit (which is a kind of contrary of his rival fally ipupa's droit chemin)
5 months after his rival fally,he releases in january of 2007 album sens interdit produced by one of brazzaville's army generals mr norbert dabira
album takes a bit of time to be accepted but by the end of the year things are better and ferre starts having concerts with his own group
the same year with support of felix wazekwa and jb mpiana ferré gets a contract with beer primus and to mark their partnership prepares a generique but also decides adding a rumba to introduce his singers
meanwhile,he tries to have europe visas for his group so that they catch up rival fally ipupa who just had his concert at olympia de paris but their visas are rejected,due to influence of another leader of congolese music
generique lubukulukumu and remix of his maison mere hit vita-imana are released in early 2008 and months later and with help of several authorities he gets visas for europe and has a concert in elysée montmartre in paris and a small europe tour
and he starts recording his future album qui est derriere toi which he releases one year after in 2009 and wins several awards with it aswell as gold disk and several succesful songs especially maboko pamba
one year after its time for a big event in europe as ferré plays at zenith in may 2010,and shortly after starts to announce futur album boite noire
but one year later he releases maxi single avant gout with songs leke leke and porte monnaie he took from boite noire just to give fans a taste of the quality of the future album
he receives best singer award at ndule awards,aswell as a couple of awards abroad and a nomination to kora awards with coupe decale song tchekelepete
two years after that,in july of 2013 he releases album boite noire which earns him best singer and best song award with kiti ya libaya(on par with fally ipupa's service)

the beef with fally started even before both arrived in big groups
in fact when ferre was in staff london and fally in new city they already had a little beef before a wenge musica concert as both groups have some minutes before wenge came on stage
then it took another dimension when both became chef d'orchestre,there was competition of the most popular and best chef d orchestre between both and alain mpela aswell
then after that,the fact fally was often at the house of one of ferre's girlfriends to "cover" for koffi who had a relationship with her(he was giving her money coming from koffi and stuff like that)it ended in a suspicion that it was fally who was sleeping with his girlfriend so it went a bit more personal
and now the rivalry is more about the fact both are leaders of that generation coming from clan wenge offshots and quartier latin

Garçon" or "Les Gaulois" or something you can't just have your group called "Ferre's group" even though they are Ferre's group.

probably nsone,as celeo and kabosé had similar problems for their own visas,the rest of their generation were saved because they had french or belgian papers already
and leaders in general have an access with some authorities if you are too talkative when you live them they will make you pay for it somehow
latest example of that,is djino who got his visa rejected two times when he tried to do it on jb's back while still being in the band but suspended, and a third time after his noisy interviews in almost every kinshasa tv
and about ferre's group, all them followed fally,plain and simple,had fally name his group for example new city de la bogania like one of his former groups,all the others would have followed

His arrogance, not being serious in signing contracts, his complex towards Fally is killing is career and his bad entourage.
There are every time problems between session-musicians or songwriters about the amount they agreed that he must pay, he also had every year problems with concert-promotion for not showing up(most notable is the problem he got with Lumba Bawu). It was better for Ferre to chose David Monsoh to promote his album instead of General Dabira, but he was to hurried to record his album for not letting Fally dominate Kinshasa. Which led to refuse of Maika Munan to arrange his album. I think that if Ferre to more time to record his album and letting the promotion to David Monsoh that he would be more feather than he now is or maybe feather than Fally.
I've noticed that Ferre is very into satanism since Qui est Derriere Toi. He's promoting and supporting it indirectly in songs, interviews and posters who are announcing his albums. Examples are his slogan 'toko mema bango likolo', some songs in Boite Noire and the promotion poster of Qui est Derriere Toi & Boite Noire.

Archos, the vehicle that Koffi had given to Ferre was a Mercedes Benz coupe, the very yellow one shown on the Danger De Mort promotional bonus videos, it was Koffi's from way back. I think the VW Beetle was always Fally's,it's most likely the blue one Fally was shown driving on the same videos around 2005.
