In short he's saying that Congolese people need to liberate DRC and defend the country against rwanda and now the other congo. He says that people of the other congo have become like rwandais people treating Congolese people bad, but when it comes to other countries they don't do anything. He says that denis sassou(president of congo) is a satanist who is now collaborating with the M23 . He is asking the combattants all around the world to make a platform to talk about the injustices in DRC. He says that they will beat Jb if he comes to South Africa and their waiting for him and for him to be careful. And that they will try to kill him. He says that Jb drives around in his expensive cars but never talks about the injustices in DRC and he didn’t denounce the Congolese government and that he hasn’t done anything for Congolese people. He says that Congolese musicians need to be like Miriam Makeba and Lucky Dube who sang against apartheid in South Africa and Youssou N'Dour who sang against the Senegalese government. And he says that they will break Koffi’s hotel down when they liberate the country (Villa Del Pirlo). He said that because he said Koffi is nothing but a traitor to the Congolese people who made him who he is today. He says that Kaddafi didn’t know know his regime will go down but it did and now it will be Kabila’s turn.

musicians are easy scapegoats, there are richer people than them showing off with their money
and also i wish i could know one, just one conflict solved by a musician, or one country in africa with musicians criticizing strongly the president and remaining in the country with total freedom makeba and blondy spent a lot of time abroad, i am shocked you agree with a guy who makes hints about violence
yes,on some aspects, one can think congolese artists only think about themselves, but it has been proven million times that many artists doing any type of actions outside music had stafs behind them giving them ideas and direction
whereas in the staffs of congolese musicians, the guys are there just to say oh pretre oza danzé oleki yé
the main problem is CONGOLESE MENTALITY and it includes almost every congolese including many of those who consider themselves are righters of wrongs and who were influencing the musicians in the bad way not even a decade ago...
-
He says that Congolese musicians need to be like Miriam Makeba and Lucky Dube who sang against apartheid in South Africa and Youssou N'Dour who sang against the Senegalese government.
This is why i'm pro combattants for this particular reason why did werra, jb and all others sing for kabila the man who's killing our country and act like it's acceptable and still don't further actions to change this you know congolese artist are very influential imagine werra or jb going against kabila all the kids on the street would follow this and liberate country but they don't care just suckers for money and no more good music comes out from them since 10/7 years ago
-
yes indeed but that is very hypothetic, we think so based on their popularity but if their popularity was as powerful as we think kabila would have slaughtered tshisekedi
yes it might have brought something but to what price? look at how bemba who is much much much stronger and influential than artists was eliminated, and now imagine what would happen to the families of the musicians
and also imagine the number of guys who would die in streets killed by army and police...
the proof is that mobutu's tragic end had absolutely nothing to do with musicians....
-
Jdog, I thought you said you were a young man and an American how come then you don't respect democracy?
These combatants are just low life mxxther fxxkers with their own personal agendas.
It is wrong to say Congo Brazza and Rwandans don't like people from DRC, the political decisions politicians in these respective countries make have nothing to do with the nationals of those countries,it's the authorities in charge who make decisions for instance on the expulsion of DRC people from Brazza.
Musicians have their own lives and should not be compelled to denounce ruling leaders especially in some of our countries with jungle laws and authoritarians as leaders. The musicians just mind their business for their own and their families safety. These combatants need to mobilize resources and go and fight for their country in DRC not on the internet or by stopping musicians from performing.
-
thanks sly,if it was that easy to cause trouble to kabila and co and get away with it,all of them would be in kinshasa right now, especially seeing how they mess with kinshasa naive girls whenever they have chance to go back to kin,or some of them are in concerts showering money on musicians yet having a completely different position
i am so happy sly mentioned their personal lives, people should never forget that behind werra there is noel ngiama, behind jb jean bedel and so on, besides their job they are citizens like us

Newside, when Kabila snr and his son who is now President were fighting Mobutu and Kabila Jnr eventually became a military commander in the DRC why didn't these same people protest? Why didn't they protest that they had a foreigner as a commander in the congolese army.
What is it that Kabila has done that has brought all this animosity, isn't he the one who has brought stability to Congo and is developing the country? Isn't he at loggerhead with Kagame and Museveni? It is Museveni and Kagame who should be the enemy of the congolese people not Kabila who is busy expelling militants sent by Museveni and Kagame and other businessmen with interest in the natural resources of the Congo.
Let Tshisekedi fight his own battles and not use these combatants to fight for him.
-
The only thing I agree with the combattants is that DRC needs to liberated from that rwandais in charge of DRC!!! Efo DRC eza librarted!

Listen I know many combattants in London most of the are just normal people there is a minority that are involved are involved at least 15% the rest of the 85% are normal like myself so no I'm not a low-life motherfucker but my opinion on this combattants affair is pretty clear I believe that musicians should get a minimal band for supporting kabila by purpose (for example somebody like tshala muana robbing it on the faces of the combattants and being a loudmouth). My thoughts were that when this band will arrive a difference will put in congolese music more harmony between musicians and more human right importance between group and etc. but nothing has changed kaka ba kanai ya ba musiciens (purposeful and arrogant behaviour by leaders), this is why I'm unimpressed because of the lack of transition made over the last 8 years they should be exemplar to the nation as they are influential but this band for musician is just minimal once the power changes sides they'll be able to play again as usual but the leaders need to reflecting and changing many things.

ndeko jdog i am not sure kabila or another president changes anything, the country is such a massive economic stake for europe and america
its them the true enemies, look at seskul mobutu who also messed up with people's lives as long as they agreed to let him stay president as long as he wants in return of our ressources, and then they dumped him when they did not need him anymore
PS guys lets stick to music please politics involves too much passion, the longer this debate lasts the longer some of us might needlesly lose temper....
-
Yes Sly I respect democracy it's a very nice thing to have and I also want DRC to have democracy. They need to be able to elect and choose their own government and not have some makeshift elections where the box is already full of vote for one candidate.
-
You know what, the devil manages to play with african minds. Even in Zambia we have such problems were politicians accuse each other of being foreigners. There hasbeen no President in Zambia who has not been accused of being a foreigner. Our first President Kenneth Kaunda was said to be Malawian, after him it was FTJ Chiluba, they accused him of being congolese and so was his successor my uncle the late Levy Mwanawasa, his rivals said he was congolese. Mwanawasa's successor RB Banda they claim is Zimbabwean and now his successor and the current President of Zambia Michael Sata is said to be Tanzanian infact little is known about his background but he's our President, people didn't give a toss, they voted for him even with all allegations that he was a foreigner.
I believe Kabila is serving his last term, why not concentrate on finding a suitable candidate to take on whoever will succeed Kabila in his part coz we hear it's either Kabila's wife or his sister.
I think Tshisekedi snr is too old, you need a younger democrat in Congo to take over from where Kabila will finish.
-
PS guys lets stick to music please politics involves too much passion, the longer this debate lasts the longer some of us might needlesly lose temper....
Yeah I was starting to feel like my dad and the older folks when they especially talk about Congolese politics :D :D.... Lol like some of us don't loose temper when talking about Congolese music.
-
The people in Kinshasa well most in gritty boroughs do not concentrate on politics which I can't blame them because most haven't to school. Eventually they look up to Religion, Music, Sports and fashion. In nicer boroughs and richer boroughs there are people who have studied and have acknowledgement within politics. Now the people in the gritty boroughs are highly vulnerable and people from the society and elites need to help them know the truth about politics and this is were I believe music, sports and fashion should be involved to spread the word on corruption let me give you an example in the late 90's during Kabila seniors are Bana Tshangu (kids of masina, ndjili, kingasani ya suka and matete) who are fans of the wenge's forced out Rwandans out of kinshasa and why do you think so because at the time (Werra & JB were supporting Kabila Sr) see the influenced made that is what we need now you see it what I'm trying to elborate fellow members!!!!

Newside. I didn't know you were a combattant. When I say low life mother F's I refer to the chaps that actually go on camera to insult and issue threats or beat up musicians and their bodyguards. No sane person would kill another person just because of politics, I hate combattants for their unjustified violence on innocent people in diaspora for instance that guy who was one of the people that was hired to protect JB Mpiana for the cancelled zenith show last year, I don't know if he survived.
-
Fellow bloggers I'm a congolese person and whatever is agains Kabila Jr (who is not the son of Kabila Sr RIP) I will support whoever is against him because his downgrading our country instead dragging the country to prosperity and it's full potential to be the richest country so whoever is pro kabila i'm against them INGETA!!! if you're congolese I know you'll agree with me INGETA!

Ahhhhh Newside, you sound like the older folks who say that Kabila is not Congolese but from rwanda :D :D

I do agree Sly with unnecessary violence used by the combattants (I'm not a combattants but I do attend protest and campaigns as I'm anti-Kabila) but yes we need to follow the philosophy of Thomas Sankara, Martin luther king and other political leaders who used peaceful campaigns but yes if your from london and you are congolese do you know dangerous it is to congo you can't get killed because of Kabila so we are in risk why shouldn't his people who support him should not be risk see JB I do like him because he apologized but I believe it was hypocrisy because in Kin his insulting the diaspora but his not that bad is people like Tshala Muana need to get beaten up for being loud-mouths and provoking but Sly what country are you from???
-
Ferre,Bill and Werra all took risks with these songs. And I heard that Bill even got beaten up at his house by Kabila supporters.

I will say that one thing I credit Kabila for forcing the M23 out of east Congo.

I see what you mean Newside however if you are a Christian or know the bible then you must understand that there will never be a perfect politician or perfect country, we are all doomed so things will never be fair and wars will not end so instead of concentrating on trying to remove kabila from power using underhand method ie intimidating citizens including musicians, congolese people especially those in diaspora need to identify people in diaspora who they need to fund for instance you have young men like Alain Mpela who failed to get to parliament, those are the people you need to be using.
We also know that you cannot force someone to apologise, JB Mpiana,Koffi and other musicians have nothing to apologise for just as archos has said, they too are Congolese and have personal lives beside music.
Newside,i am a proper Zambian but with much interest in Congo because my forefathers originated from the Congo during the Luba/Lunda migration. ;D
-
See the thing is Sly you need to look at this combattants affair from both sides of the argument.
I agree that combattants need to stop with unnecessary violence.
I agree that combattants should to stop threatening only musicans and be assertive towards people who are pro-kabila basically (PPRD)
I agree that combattants should go to Kinshasa and start the campaigns and protests their.
In my opinion Sly if you balance this situation out you will understand where I'm standing within this problem.
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o You're Zambian I thought you was congolese oh my but yes there is strong relations between luba's and southern countries of africa but the same at we are all Bantu's, Africans and in all a Human race from the world :) :) :)
-
Newside, I would want to look at the combattant's arguments but the problem is that it's a group that has no clear objectives and no appointed or elected leader so we don't exactly know what is it they want and how they want to achieve their aims, so far what we've seen from them is violence and insults on political leaders and musicians who support them.
These combattant's only want one candidate, Ya Tshi Tshi and that is wrong.
Oui ndeko na ngai, naza zambien mais naza congolaise en spirituel. Most people in Zambia and even some congolese guys think am congolese, they get shocked when I tell them am Zambian, we are one. Kiekiekie

I may not know much about this topic and further to that i am not Congolese but i am An African and allow me to state that;
1. Musicians have private lives and interests to take care of especially family therefore i really do not understand why someone would want them to say only that which they want to hear musicians say.
2. I wonder why someone in Europe or American would want a musician in Kin to say something or act in a manner they themselves cannot do in the same streets of Kin.
3. Acting in a manner that affects the activities of musicians i.e performances in Kin or Abroad is similar to fighting the wrong enemy, one should take the fight to the enemy's doorstep.
4. The musicians were not given their popularity by anyone on a silver platter, they have earned it over the years therefore they should be left alone.
I hope I shall be forgiven if what I have said here doesn't please anyone.
-
Odanga, thank you for summarising everything, word!!!
On another note, i hope you've seen the news that hundreds of rebels in the east surrendered and the process of disarmament will start so whilst the combattants are making noise, others at home are working.
-
My take...Both Kabila and Combattants understand the power in Music and Kabila has managed to use musicians effectively in his campaigns and agenda. Combattants lack a unifying agenda.

guys the problem here is that we don't understand politic what we see and comment is face value.African governments change the life does not ask yourself why. we rejoice when governments change only to despair as no value is seen. this is because we hate a government so Mich that we want to replace it with anything better yet something of our own. African governments are about eating not making the cake bigger..
sometimes I laugh at how we indulge in politics yet we don't even know how governments are run. I come from s country thst has regular election yet life is still hard why because when we are not eating we complain protest etc until we are at the table then we proceed to make same errors..
I concur let us stick to music and maybe sports...
my take

Governance is not rocket science and for your own information most politicians are not even really educated. It's only by educating each other that we learn what is good and bad governance and maybe try to push for changes in our own countries. What I find is that African politics and politicians just suck, the politics practiced in Africa are so archaic that's why we have all these problems. We have govts which go into power for the sake of wanting to be in power and chewing but they go with proper plans and do everything by trial and error and people have no right to question them.
