I"ll translate based on memory because i watched it live
he says in the past with the likes of tabuley success matched the high quality of their work whereas today many have a lot of success with minimal work and adds that their is plenty of musicians who do not sing well but are succesful and papy asks him to give some names and reddy says "so what did you learn journalism for, is it only about teasing your guests"
he then talked about the combattants issues and said that if congolese musicians were united they could have gone for some legal actions in europe he is aware of but he cant do on his own
he talked about "bomoko" and said its a good idea but he fears it might end up like maisha,because congolese musicians and congolese people in general are not mature enough yet to think for the common good,but rather their personal cases
he reveals that some artists lied that he was not in kin when the first lady celebrated her birthday in goma so that their part of money could be bigger with one person less in the list
he talks about songwriters saying he is against that system of going on tv to say i gave this or that to those artists and anyway there are barely 5 of them who are really great
he is asked about what he thinks about behaviour of younger musicians and he says clearly that most lack the basic values of respect or are arrogant,he for example does not find normal that some young artists salute papa wemba without taking their hat or cap off
and he is asked if he sometimes listens to their music and he says he listened to some songs by fally,ferre,fabregas,djino,mirage supersonic
papy then asked why his recent albums are not as succesful as in the past,and he says he believes none of the congolese artists is having true success in the last 10 years or so otherwise we'd have proof that x sold 500K cds in three weeks or such stuff
papy says "but koffi recently released an album" and reddy replied" go and tell him,since your are fanatic of him,to show you how many cds he has sold"
he does not trust people's noise or just the promotion on tv he wants clear written proof of sales from copyright companies,if papy can prove him that with all the success he sees in other artists any of them sold something like 550k cds in 3 days otherwise he has zero reason to have any inferiority complex towards any other artist as he knows their success is mainly hype and he does not care at all if it any of the other singers are hurt by his truth,and if they want they can come to discuss with him face to face
he adds that there is a chinese guy in kinshasa who is involved in piracy of cds and some artists when to see him to get some money and let him continue his business and he wants authorities to do something about him
he is working on a new album and it should be out in the first months of next year
