Im wondering if he needs to shift the strategy back to "let's do big venues that Fally hasn't done already" he did back in in 23-2024 with Adidas and ING that were great concerts. Doing venues that Fally already sold out a while back is not a good look with how vicious melomanes are.
Not going to lie, this album pissed me off for a while. My initial thought was “you had assembled the equivalent of the Avengers and this is what you release?? In addition you cut the vocals of your popular recruits?”
Another way to put it is listen to ADE, then play DDM right after and see the level of drop-off in production.
As time passed and releases got limited I started to better like the album. The compositions were solid and the limited sebene enjoyable . For the difficult recording problems, producer challenges , and ngulu affair problems - it was the best of what could have been done for the circumstances. Agree Mbetenge and JC Tshituka saved their asses with the arrangements.
Droit Chemin especially and Sous Sol made this album sit in waiting till the buzz died a bit on those releases. Wazekwa was also fairly hot at that time following Faux Mutu Moko Boye and the single Mosapi Liboso. JB also was cooking Kipe Ya Yo then and doing previews and gaining momentum. With Koffi losing most of the QL team and this album flopping, he was in shambles at the end of 2006.
I was honestly expecting the Generique to end with the keyboard like wanna dance loool. Also he should’ve hired dancers for the video because it’s awkward seeing him just dance by himself
He may not have had money left in his budget following all the stuff to have Fally's likeness on every level .
Because frankly this is an un-normal level of idolization of another grown man. A bit ironic for a so-called gospel singer.
Why he keeps getting invited to Kenya the world may never know. For the past 10 years, every time he’s come for concerts there is some scuffle or scandal.
The footage is very weird but they appear to indicate it ended up not being a major issue. Unless someone was there are has been intel to say what happened
lol, yeah I remember. Back then doing an album without mabanga was like releasing an album for free. That was grounds to start a fight with producers or leave a label. This is why Wemba ended up giving up the "world" album concept. Mabanga was lucrative then, and more so now since artists don't make real money off streams or pure album sales anymore.
There was no record label that could match, let alone surpass, the amount of money Koffi was getting from Sonodisc. Attentat was the final album under his contract with Sono. Several labels approached him, but they backed out after seeing Koffi’s demands. Koffi stayed with Sono as result, which became Next Music after merging with another label. However, both Koffi and Papa Wemba ended up getting fired, Next Music went bankrupt shortly afterwards.
Koffi Olomidé had for the same reasons problems to find a proper recordlabel to produce Monde Arabe. From that point on, Koffi mostly co-produced his own albums
Nadim Sonima was able to meet Koffi’s demands? The album was poorly promoted initially to the point that it seemed like a flop for a while until it surged in popularity in the late 2000’s and again when it finally made to streaming platforms.
It must’ve felt like a huge downgrade from the once formidable Sono. He was literally shopping the album to different potential producers which delayed the album after loosing Sono
indeed solid album, damien aziwa could have pulled a decent group career aswell,he had soleil arca diniero titi firenze late celullaire deba oneil and some others but he was not as determined as jolino for example to record several times with the guys
He also had Ngounda Son who later went on to do well in Victoria. Lots of talent, but managing and funding a band is not easy
He previously dragged Doudou Copa for his drinking habits. The founders of Extra despite this set aside their differences with him and reunite at funerals
Damien Aziwa has some decent albums. I listened to his other albums, but not this one.. it might’ve just gotten to streaming platforms. Nice album, good sound, and you can tell Titina did his strict tuning on the drums - very tight in the manner he does best.
JB gave an unusual amount of space to BCBG members to participate as session musicians for other artists. Phillpe Guez, Nyboma, Guy Nsangue, and Ballou Canta also participated.
Maybe it’s just me, but I love stumbling upon albums from the peak era that I haven’t heard before. Everyone was on their A game back then.
Terrible - he’s doing this to get followers fast since people like us have been looking for these clips for years. This is probably his parents collection.
