This would be the first time that Madilu actually had his band participating on his solo album. Before hand, he was only working with folks like Rigo Star, Dally Kimoko, Lokassa ya Mbongo, Caen Madoka, Nyboma, Malage de Lugendo, Ballou Canta, Luciana and Wuta Mayi. I wonder why this time, he decided to get his actual band into his solo album?
He actually recorded an group-album in Brazzaville at Studio IAD with likes of Fofo le Collegien, Pathy Moleso, Adricha Tipo-Tipo, Rio Kazadi, Pere Elanga, Yaya Londa, etc. The album was called 'Penatly sans Gardien'. But the group had bad-luck that the civil-war in Brazzaville just started when they finished recording the album. It's unclear if the recording-files got lost during the war or the studio IAD getting looted. Anyway, the album got never released. The original project was to release Pentalty sans Gardien in 1997, record a solo-album called Saint Etienne in South Africa with his band and bring them to Europe afterwards.
Here Madilu singing extracts of Manuele Samuele and Saint Etienne (which became Yaya). He also talked about the projects of Saint Etienne and Penalty sans Gardien.
But Madilu changed his mind, believing that all musicians would run away once they would get in Europe as he wasn't paying them while they spent almost a year abroad (they toured in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and South Africa). Just before returning back to Kinshasa, he made clear that they would not go to Europe anymore, while he had visas for them. It created frustration and some musicians decided to leave once they arrived in Kinshasa. Madilu went on his own to Europe and mixed songs of the meant Penalty sans Gardien and Saint-Etienne together and made it release under title l'Eau. Some of the songs of Penatly sans Gardien ended up in Pouvoir. The song Manuele Samuele for example was meant to be the main song of Penalty sans Gardien. Saah and Thermometre were songs of Vice-president Yaya Londa. I believe that Mokonzi was Fofo's song but I am sure.
After Fofo le Collegien, Yaya Londa and co left, Madilu's band was left with just youngsters. Madilu gave them false hope by saying that this time they would tour finally in Europe and record a part of Pouvoir, which gave them extra motivates. Atalaku Guylain Ngidingongi even hyping Ambassadeur Molengo up and singing in Kikongo that they would go to Europe soon in the sebene of Simon. But in the song Nakombo, Madilu dissed/mocked his own musicians by saying in that Ambassadeur should not give them visa's otherwise they would run away.
There was an event planned at LSC and La Madeleine with an europe- tour somewhere in 2000, but Madilu prefered to bring ngulu's. Just before dissapointing his musicians, he decided to plan a meeting and ordered that all musicians and dancers should snitch on each other. They ended up by exposing each other only to cry and kneel down, after that Madilu saying that he couldn't bring such bandmembers to Europe lol. Former bandmember Zidane talked about itin an interview he did with David Mombele
from 15:22 min to 16:36 min
Wouldn't madilu have more success had he brought his group to Europe, why self-sabotage?
Was Ferre throwing shots towards Alain Mpela about not having a house and bragging while having nothing, as reponse to the journalist's question about what he would advice other chef d'orchestres of Clan Wenge ?
I wonder what Flamme thinks about Bob Solo's death. He saw how he joined as a kid of 11 years and slowly grew
What did Bob die from, he must have been in his early 30s?
The silence of the leader of the group is soo loud. Sad that she has nowhere to go.
This is like the 3rd instance of this going public and then crickets from Nsone until everyone moves on from their anger of the abuse. He’s afraid of performing without Kakol after all these years.
Being an ex-dancer is one of the most stigmatized professions in Africa in general. It’s fast life until your beauty fades and you no longer serve a purpose to the boss only to be replaced with a younger girl
I know an ex-dancer who had to leave the country and restart in the US because her dancing profession was equal to being a Prost** which meant she could not find a regular job to support herself. So I can’t imagine how much Linda is against the odds by leaving clean with the kids stuck in the middle
There's so many drummers in Congo, I don't think it's extremely difficult to find a replacement for Kakol. I don't understand this fear to force his retirement
He said because there is kin quartier latin now he restarted another project with them, and advanced with them especially the instrumentists who will put songs then he'll complete with the europe guys...lol koffi loves hyping a quartier latin return,he gave a passionate 20 years after speech only to respond to papy's question about what motivates him to continue working in studio and his answer is that he wants a 2nd cindy album with big feats abroad to cement her as a continental star
Is he afraid that if the group album does well that the fans and donors will use that momentum to freeze out Cindy by pushing a tour and then a solo Koffi album? I feel like they're waiting for the right moment to push Cindy aside by saying, "mokonzi, this is what the fans want".
Personally, Cindy should have her own orchestra and Koffi occasionally collaborate with her, but he maintain QL as it used to be. If he had done this, I think he could counter the Fally and Ferre defections with Le Mineurs while maintaining Cindy's respect among the fans as she stands separate from QL
Why do Congolese artists never leave their bands when bandleaders do them wrong ? Like it's not normal being arrested by interpol for almost a week and your boss abandons you without sending help. Alain was lucky that his father and sister intervened. Really sad how the tour-promoter decided to commit suicide.
The story about how the musicians were wearing each others clothes, not being paid and fans in Zambia mocking was really humiljating. The musicians could have been wrong that Marie Paul paid the dancers, it could also be that they went to a boss and did some ...., which made them gain some money. Anyway, it was really cowardly from traitors to point Alain Mwepu as reponsible. It won't surprise me if it was Pitshou Santiago who did that, because over the years I watched interviews of different El Paris-members and they all called Pitshou traitor/snitch. I also believe that same Marie Paul sended Charly to beat Dello Bass up.
That African tour was a huge mess, but the funny thing is how on tv, Marie Paul and his musicians acted on tv like every went great. Having followed the interviews Alain Mwepu, Hassan, Depitcho and co did about El Paris made me conclude that Marie Paul is one of the worst bandleaders our music ever had.
yeah heritier offered him money even to join but he refused and we even saw him once mess up his "test" on purpose, even ferre at some points there was ferre donors wanting him to join with a car and some money as incentive he said no he'll even play in studio to ferre for free one song if he is contacted but he promised himself he'd be member of only the group of his friend fally, loyalty did not give him the best payback
After Fally's Bercy, Alvarito should have made the permanent move to Heritier or Ferre. That's like 2-3 albums released without you, Fally's never accepting you back. What even went wrong between them, if they're friends why was impossible for reconciliation?
The same Heritier that dropped Japonais over something minor?? Alvarito’s style would’ve never suited Ferre. That would’ve been like Flamme Kapaya joining Bcbg
He'll adapt, my issue is that you lose access to donors if they believe you to be unfocused

nahh he never returned and the mrs suffered miscarriage, and eversince bar his sessions with heritier and deplick then bouro equaliseur project which took years to materialize it all went downhill
How come Fally forgave Gecamine Kasangidi and bring he back to Europe but Alvarito wasn't so lucky? It's so insane how things quickly went bad for him after leaving F'Victeam, it shouldn't have ended like this for him, Alvarito deserved so much better. He should have committed to Team Wata.
I doubt he will he just got artistic director which is crucial in bcbg more than in 99 per cent of the bands,i could well see however maitre ficarré who is on 40+ years continuous career to be "told to stay" then possibly the two other main atalakus fusee and pajo who experienced for the first time being axed for months and saw their deputies do more than well in covering, then possibly somebody like didi kalombo who has not seen europe since he was deported in 2009
How are you guys able to tell who's more likely to run away and who will return after a European tour, I wouldn't really know what to look for since they're so good at looking professional when they're planning a secret exit
i watched few hours ago a video of his close friend equaliseur who explained that they both had problems when they dated european and american women which lead to them going to sort papers, late alvarito did not plan to leave but happened to have felt forced to,virginie tried because of how our journalists operate depending of their tendencies/preferences to get him to insist on fally being jealous of them and stuff like that but he dodged it quick and stayed focused on his talk, and said that he had tried multiple times to rejoin the group but was either made to make an apology video to rejoin the band without anything happening, being told he is not allowed even in the perimeter near rehearsals and various other humiliating scenes, and it lead to him being depressed and it caused blood sugar and pressure issues, when they decided to ponctually work together him late alva and bouro he'd sometimes be unable to come and record because he does not feel his arms or legs and he thanked jp kys who contributed a lot helping late alva sometimes up to doing the bare minimum as a grown father or inviting him to session work to make him get paid and so on they tried knocking the door of his ex group for support but got ignored so it would not make sense for people to put pressure on his ex group to bury him at all costs if when they could have been there for him human relationships decided it was not worth it because of x y z he said although late alva was slightly older they got along so well and alva was not the type to create problems he was just a chill guy who wanted to do what he did best which was playing guitar
Alvarito should have joined Team Wata. I don't understand this blind loyalty to Fally, Alvarito is a grown man with children and responsibilities; if there's an opportunity to protect your income from donors as a guitarist for a rival group that tours, you have an obligation to take that job.
I understand he's got love for Fally, but Fally is a vastly different man from the one he knew from Droit Chemin to Libre Parkour. He's simply too big to pay attention to you, so make yourself big enough to enter Fally's radar by being a great soloist for Team Wata and exploit Heritier's relationship with Fally to repair the relationship behind the scenes. Alvarito would have been in a much better position to do so with Heritier and staff behind him than as a session guitarist.
i dont think there was directly problems between him and "nsiabamfumu" like he called his friend fally, but rather the influence of staff and all that, over the fact he went to play in studio for heritier and deplick and nearly joined wata on permanent basis, something similar happened with kasangidi just that he was more patient in trying to beg out his case as he did not travel with deplick, late alva then doing what is funnily enough the worst thing in our music in sort of saying fxxk it i am his friend first and foremost i aint gonna ridicule myself-(look at fabro vs ibra but na filet for example to understand that point) when he saw that his first attempts needed some extra extra work
Why would he collaborate with Deplick and Heritier as an active member of F'Victeam? That's almost treasonous, those are rival bands. Unless Fally or the group's chef d'orchestra gives you direct authorization to do so, it seems like a huge gamble.
How come he wasn't able to integrate with Team Wata? I remember seeing a couple videos of him rehearsing with the band and he even played guitar on some songs for Heritier's album, but he never became officially a member.
I still need to understand what was going on inside Jb Mpiana's brain to see that concert of the ppu's in kin and still say "naa I prefer my team of kibens and co". Just imagine that generation of pipyiu going against Maison mere and QL it would've made the battle more interesting.
That whole situation still makes me scratch my head after all these years and the more the former pipiyu’s speak of it. You form a young hungry collective, showcase them a Bercy, then just abandon them like nothing. A true “Why tho” situation
The man always enjoyed his comfortable levels rather than taking a level of risk
To be fair, the ngulu affaire ruined JB Mpiana's plan for Les Pipiyus de BCBG. He intended for them to participate in Anti-Terror, but everything got messed up when his visa requests kept getting denied.
