This would be the first time that Madilu actually had his band participating on his solo album. Before hand, he was only working with folks like Rigo Star, Dally Kimoko, Lokassa ya Mbongo, Caen Madoka, Nyboma, Malage de Lugendo, Ballou Canta, Luciana and Wuta Mayi. I wonder why this time, he decided to get his actual band into his solo album?

He actually recorded an group-album in Brazzaville at Studio IAD with likes of Fofo le Collegien, Pathy Moleso, Adricha Tipo-Tipo, Rio Kazadi, Pere Elanga, Yaya Londa, etc. The album was called 'Penatly sans Gardien'. But the group had bad-luck that the civil-war in Brazzaville just started when they finished recording the album. It's unclear if the recording-files got lost during the war or the studio IAD getting looted. Anyway, the album got never released. The original project was to release Pentalty sans Gardien in 1997,  record  a solo-album called Saint Etienne in South Africa with his band and bring them to Europe afterwards.



Here Madilu singing extracts of Manuele Samuele and Saint Etienne (which became Yaya). He also talked about the projects of Saint Etienne and Penalty sans Gardien.


But Madilu changed his mind, believing that all musicians would run away once they would get in Europe as he wasn't paying them while they spent almost a year abroad (they toured in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and South Africa). Just before returning back to Kinshasa, he made clear that they would not go to Europe anymore, while he had visas for them. It created frustration and some musicians decided to leave once they arrived in Kinshasa. Madilu went on his own to Europe and mixed songs of the meant Penalty sans Gardien and Saint-Etienne together and made it release under title l'Eau. Some of the songs of Penatly sans Gardien ended up in Pouvoir. The song Manuele Samuele for example was meant to be the main song of Penalty sans Gardien. Saah and Thermometre were songs of Vice-president Yaya Londa. I believe that Mokonzi was Fofo's song but I am sure.





After Fofo le Collegien, Yaya Londa and co left, Madilu's band was left with just youngsters. Madilu gave them false hope by saying that this time they would tour finally in Europe and record a part of Pouvoir, which gave them extra motivates. Atalaku Guylain Ngidingongi even hyping Ambassadeur Molengo up and singing in Kikongo that they would go to Europe soon in the sebene of Simon. But in the song Nakombo, Madilu dissed/mocked his own musicians by saying in that Ambassadeur should not give them visa's otherwise they would run away.




There was an event planned at LSC and La Madeleine with an europe- tour somewhere in 2000, but Madilu prefered to bring ngulu's. Just before dissapointing his musicians, he decided to plan a meeting and ordered that all musicians and dancers should snitch on each other. They ended up by exposing each other only to cry and kneel down, after that Madilu saying that he couldn't bring such bandmembers to Europe lol. In The Song Nzungu Na Kifinuku Papa Wemba calls out to Koffi Olomide as Le Grand Mopoa. Was this a form of recognition out from their past polemiques?

It was because he was head of AMC and Maisha Parc, I believe that Koffi Olomidé also gave him a shout-out in Danger de Mort but I could be wrong. The same Papa Wemba also gave Koffi a shout-out in the song Esprit ya Sika from Somo Trop. Koffi and Wemba were cool from the moment Maisha Parc was created in 2004, would often team up together until everything got messed up from interview Papa Wemba did with late Francis Kakonde in 2009

The parts that aren't on this video were also funny. For example, the story about how Bouro made Alain Mpela smoke weed, the way he imitated Eric Tutsi and late Ondo calling Modogo a pig hahahha Also that minimizing Philiphe Guez work but not in the studio not being able to play.

Don't you think that it would create problems for his business as a ghostwriter when posting ? Don't forget that many people follow this forum to gather information although never reacting.

Some bandleaders are often angry when it's exposed that x or y wasn't written by them unless they say it themselves publicly. There are bandleaders that let ghostwriter sign some kind of contract that they are not allowed to expose that x song is from them and that from y day the song isn't their property anymore in return of some money (depending on what they agreed). In the past different ghostwriters were boycotted because of exposing that they wrote different songs for big bandleaders

I didn't knew that Didier Oasis was that tall eh. Mutombo Dikemba akosa. Gemerose looks like a student here. I wouldn't have recoginzed him if Blaise Bula didn't mention is name. Did Titi Kongolo made it on the Europe-list ? Faut sentir aspect, atie na kerly. I never knew who Dider Six was, but was often hearing his name. It's only now that I discovered that he came from Ponderation 8. He's a great dancer

So sad that Himalaya, Willy Star and Reagan passed away. Reagan's aunt was really evil by bringing him to Koffi, only to be dumped a few months later, because Koffi prefering Kerozene above him.


Doudou Nkunku was a good journalist. So sad that almost their generation left to settle in Europe. In some Western countries you would see them upgrade by becoming a director and coaching the young generation. Now we are left with journalists on tv that just ask questions like "who's the number one artist in Congo right know ?" and creating polemic.

The image of Werra-fans singing at FIKIN about Blaise Bula being better than JB, reminds me of an image when Desi Mbwese was performing at FIKIN in 2001 and the same fans singing that he's better than JB. Back at that era, when what ever artist would perform the same day as JB or Werra at FIKIN, both fans would scream about being either better than JB or Werra

 Like Defao said in Fogy "Type K aleki nioso". Back at that time many artists were hyping Jose Kongolo's nightclub Type K up in concerts. Someone needs to create a documentary about to nightclubs and restaurants within in the Congolese diaspora in Paris and Brussels from 1980s till the 2000s. Dalida is so lucky that Dadju became a known artist. Many women of her time are unhappy, broke, sick or/and became a sister in christ

The thing that was saving Marie Paul was his ability to draw huge crowds whenever he walked through the streets or held big events. But financially he didn't had anything. I don't remember which of the many interviews it was, but Hassan Tseke explained to Teddy Mola, when talking about Marie Paul's mistakes, how he, Depitcho and Manda were wasting money by staying in hotels, while they could have saved a lot of money by renting villas or houses, but they refused to do it (maybe because of believing they would return to Europe soon, while they were already spending years in Kinshasa or maybe because of wanting to maintain that “mikiliste” image). It was only shortly before Couvre-Feu that Marie Paul started renting a villa in Limete and Manda Chante later following by renting a villa in Binza.

The same issue was with cars. Instead of buying a Mazda or Nissan, they preferred to use taxis. At some point, they had difficulties paying the taxi drivers and many of the drivers apparently hated them because they knew they wouldn't get paid. They could have saved a lot of money by having their own cars, but they simply didn't want to buy them. It 's only years later, when businessmen Abeto Center started to work with Marie Paul in 1999 that he offered him a red BMW, as Marie Paul said to him that he didn't had a car. I don't know if this was partly because they didn't want to be confronted with the Wenge 4x4 singers, who were all driving Mercedes-Benzes, but it definitely affected them financially.
