I didn't follow Aurlus Mabele. But what was the reason Aurlus Mabele abandoning Soukous to make Ndombolo-music ? Was it because of Ndombolo starting to take over in Africa,  Soukous being past and Aurlus wanting the follow the trend ? Or was he was aiming to have a band in Brazzaville like the way Koffi Olomidé had Quartier Latin in Kinshasa instead of being Paris based ?

In Empire Bakuba album that had the original Kanda ya Nini song by Papy Tex, there was a song Avanse Loketo that was credited to Pape Kalle. Would like to know whether Aurlus ever featured in Empire Bakuba as this hit was used by Mabele later to launch his Loketo trademark. Any clarifications will be appreciated.

RIP Mbuta Mutu. The guy had great influence in East Africa. His influence is still felt here. At min 3:41-43 is Professor, one  of the founders of offshoot bands from Station Japan, Rhumba Japan playing in Nairobi and Professor is still going strong today in Nairobi.

Is that Gobin at minute 4.04? I'd like to know how Rhumba Japan ended up in Nairobi and with Gobin as the leader. Was Station Japan based in Nairobi at some point before the split?

yes thats gobby lokoni. the story of rhumba japan is tied to station japan. sometime in 1998/99 koffi olomide toured kenya and among the promoters of this tour was bussinessman cum politician waithaka machua who owned makuti park in nairobis south C Area.
while touring the country with QL, machua asked dolce parabolique somono which band from zaire then he can affordably bring to his club in nairobi to pull crowds as a resident band. somono haveing been a member of station japan recommended them and machia not being sure rechecked with singer suzuki if it was true and suzuki recomended station japan even more highly. machua dispatched promoter jules nsana to negotiate and bring them to nairobi. the rest is history, the band stayed in nairobi for one year playing at makuti park while war raged in DRC aimed at ousting mobutu. machua used to pay raja kula usd1000/month then and accomodation for the band. raja agreed with him to be keeping the money until such a time when they would be ready to go back to congo. he told band members that he was keeping the money for them so that when they return to congo they would be better off rather than giving them same to waste.
when time to go back home came, raja got the money over ksh1m and went to assanands to buy equipment while telling the band members he would pay them while in congo. the band included his elder bro ayyatolah his brothers ewing-proffesor,rufen mpata, ayattolas one jibril nfianfia, kale majore goby lokini, bevens, fils ecose, vasco egama, patrick booto etc.
there was a big quarell as band members wanted some money to go do shopping in nairobi for presents for relatives. when they reached congo the equipment he had bought was the latest in the market and it was used during concerts for inauguration of laurent kabila. he had no money for the band members, who broke away led by goby who was rajas assistant.
thats how station japan splintered and formed rhumba japan. they were supposed to return to nairobi makuti park but raja wih no band didnt manage and goby called machua who agreed that they can come back without raja. thats how rhumba japan was formed and goby became the leader

Well said Gege. Ya solo!

If this is true, then it's certainly good news. I think i heard of Yondo Sister interview where she confirmed the that Jollie Detta died in the early '90s...and their mother went on some sort of depression before she died shortly after :'(

When was this @francopepekalle ? I thought Jolie Detta was long dead...

Here’s the clip from Palpitation but not in good quality.

Why did Theo leave Big Stars for Anti Choc?

He got suspended for 6 months because of indiscipline, he couldn't  support to stay at home long so long, which made him leave for Anti Choc. Before joining Anti Choc, rumors were spread that he said that Big Stars is nothing (could also be that Defao's staff created that story to make him mad, since that Theo was one of his favorites), because they weren't touring in Europe, which angered Defao. That's why when Pecos joined, Defao brought him immediatly to Paris for the mixing of La Guerre de 100 Ans, to prove Theo Mbala a point.

Mfumu, is Pecos and Konzi wa Konzi one and the same person? Who did the animation on Defao Ft Suke Chille series??
