Not really. In fact Papa Wemba was actually giving tribute to Koffi Olomide's older brother and estranged brother known as Djonico Agbepa. For those who don't know, Djonico or Djo Nicko or Djo Nico, he was a known dressed man and was actually a good friend to Steve Niarcos. It also appears that Papa Wemba and Djo Nico used to hang out with each other from time to time to see Steve Niarcos. Koffi Olomide used to cite Djonico (Djo Nico) a lot in some of his songs. Here is my favorite moment when Koffi cites the name of Djonico (Djo Nico). It is the song called Dessin Amine made by Scola Miel who already left when this song came out.
I give Jordan Kusa credit on one thing. Most of his stories add up especially about the airplane controversy during the trip to USA with Koffi Olomide. It appears according to Jordan also that apparently Champion was trying to leave Quartier Latin. Was he mad about Koffi getting Titina Al Capone?
If you see on Ferre Gola's interview, he was beginning to reveal some truths but he stopped himself from going too far. I am sure if Werrason saw this interview, he must have been mad. This could explain why some Werrason entourage members wanted to get rid of Ferre as they already were becoming more and more attached to Heritier.
This would be the first time that Madilu actually had his band participating on his solo album. Before hand, he was only working with folks like Rigo Star, Dally Kimoko, Lokassa ya Mbongo, Caen Madoka, Nyboma, Malage de Lugendo, Ballou Canta, Luciana and Wuta Mayi. I wonder why this time, he decided to get his actual band into his solo album?
Papy Kakol is a messed up man and a jealous man as well. But I have a feeling that either Werrason or probably one of Werrason's lackies ie Sankara or Papy Le Prince or Odile Manzanka could be behind this exposure. After all, Papy Kakol has blamed for some musicians' departures including former soloist Sarah Solo. Something tells me that it had to be Werrason himself or one of Werrason's entourage members who exposed this situation.
Koffi Olomide shouldn't sell his catalogs. That is a bad idea. He just needs to work hard on making sure that his songs can give his family money after he passes away in some record association company. After all, Koffi is a legend and has work hard to earn his status as one of the greatest African artists.

Why Papa Wemba was better off with Kester Emeneya leaving him - Papa Wemba had to learn to develop more confidence and learn also how to truly get his musicians with him. Because during his early time, he was not always consistent which explains why musicians easily rebelled like what happened in the first year with musicians forming Karawa Musica or when he decided to collaborate with Tabu Ley which angered Franco so deeply that it lead to Franco pressuring Tabu Ley to help him and Verckys get Kester Emeneya a band of his own band Victoria Elesien years later. Papa Wemba needed to truly work hard to get his name out there and people know him for he was as a special singer he was. - Papa Wemba was able to get new faces like Lidjo Kwempa who was a close friend to Emeneya and Luciana Demingongo as well as of course Reddy Amisi. Also, he got to see more of Maray Maray who was already considered a rival to Emeneya to some crew members of Papa Wemba. Papa Wemba found out that he was able to redefine himself with Lidjo Kwempa, Reddy Amisi, Cele le Roi, Fafa de Molokai, Luciana Demingongo and Stino Mubi. These men proved to valuable assests to Papa Wemba and he felt less inclined to focus so much on doing nzonzing affairs. This was evident when he went to Japan and his name started to get bigger bit by bit. So much some international folks wanted Papa Wemba to come to Europe but only with a few folks. - Papa Wemba had his favorite singers. They were Luciana Demingongo, Reddy Amisi and Stino Mubi. These men oozed Papa Wemba the most with their voices. Luciana confirmed that Papa Wemba wanted to do Molokai interantional with him, Reddy and Stino however he refused to join which he argued was a good thing. But I know Papa Wemba wanted Luciana. Wemba saw Luciana as a photocopy of himself. My bet was that Papa Wemba wanted to focus on doing mostly lead vocals with choir set by Luciana singing tenor while Reddy singing baritone and Stino singing bass. However since Luciana refused to join, Papa Wemba obligated to also do the choir vocals which he sang tenor of course. - Papa Wemba was able to now have multiple versions of Viva La Musica. We would see that Papa Wemba was able to create different versions of Viva La Musica due to his international affairs and different concerts. Of course, I am speaking about Viva La Musica Nouvelle Ecriture and Viva La Musica Cour des Grands. He was able to show different kind of singers like Pompom Miyake, Stino Mubi, Bendoson, Reddy Amisi, Lidjo Kwempa, Patcheko, Cele Le Roi, Gloria Tukhadio, etc. When Papa Wemba was at a youth event, he had Nouvelle Ecriture with him but when he was at more adult event, he had Cour des Grands. Later on, he also created Viva Tendence which had Fiston Mamale, Guy Guy Fall, Petit Bokul, etc. - With all these situations, it proved that Papa Wemba was able to continue his great career after Emeneya went to be his own man with his band Victoria Elesien.
Why Papa Wemba wasn't better off with Kester Emeneya leaving him - Papa Wemba never liked the fact that Kester Emeneya was shining so much during the 1980s era and he had to deal with folks telling him about the greatness of Kester Emeneya - Papa Wemba always said that Victoria Elesien was the second version of Viva La Musica. He was implying that Kester was doing songs that would have a great fit for him and Viva La Musica - Papa Wemba had to learn to now compete with his former singer Kester Emeneya. Kester was getting a lot support from folks who used to be big fans of Wemba. - Ironically Papa Wemba would become attached to Reddy Amisi and Stino Mubi due to their vocal resemblance to Kester Emeneya. Don't forget, Emeneya, Amisi and Mubi are from Kikwit, Bandundu. Likely one of the reasons why Papa Wemba loved singing with Reddy and Stino the most was because it gave him memories on how he used to sing with Kester in the early days of Viva La Musica. - Reddy and Stino would prove that they would be their own artists and not just sound similar to Kester Emeneya with their solo albums. Papa Wemba was happy to sing with these men on their solo albums but I am sure sometimes Papa Wemba was imagining on how it would have been had Emeneya remained with him. - Later on, Papa Wemba would do molokai international with other musicians excluding Reddy and Stino when he originally played with them alongside other Molokai International musicians during the late 1980s and early 1990s. - Also Papa Wemba never truly capitalized on his international success. Part of the reason was that Papa Wemba wanted to also focus on trying to do a duet album with Kester Emeneya since he missed his voice so much and Reddy and Stino were never able to fill that void. As we know, the duo album between Emeneya and Wemba due to money issues in 1991 and ego issues in 2002. - Papa Wemba always had the greatest joy of singing sometimes when he performed with Kester Emeneya. Example, when they performed together in 1991 which Papa Wemba also included Bana Victoria on the song Ngonda. - This was likely the reason why Papa Wemba got Anthony Sampio into Viva La Musica La Nouvelle Ecriture as he saw him as the Emeneya photocopy that he was dying to have for a longtime. Sampio would be with the band for about 4 or 5 years before he left. - Papa Wemba and Kester Emeneya would have likely performed together again in a few shows had both men been alive today. I am sure Guy Moller would have the one to get Emeneya and Wemba to sing together again for the public to enjoy.
I want to do a debate about Papa Wemba as we celebrate 10 years of his unfortunate tragic death. I want to talk about one controversy in his life. It is about him with Kester Emeneya. I want to ask y'all if you guys believe that Papa Wemba was better off with Kester Emeneya leaving him and creating Victoria Elesien.
I ask this question because I have been watching this interview led by Marcel Landu on the channel Sekele which he spoke to Verckys. Verckys was saying indirectly that he did Papa Wemba a big favor by getting Kester Emeneya away from him and giving him a group of his own called Victoria Elesien. He also said that Papa Wemba would become an international star due to no longer having Emeneya around him. Here is the interview

During this time, Papa Wemba got used to Stino Mubi being the Michael Jackson of his group. Stino said that originally Papa Wemba hated how much Stino was acting like Michael Jackson. Looks by this time, Papa Wemba understood that Stino being Michael Jackson was a good marketing move.
This is the difference between Fally Ipupa and Ferre Gola:
Fally Ipupa is someone who wants to have an international audience which means he does 50 percent Rumba music and 50 percent non Rumba music which is why he is seen as international.
Ferre Gola is someone who likes to primarily focus on Rumba music and does not do too much international music which explains why he does not have a huge international presence.
Thank you for speaking about this. Here is my take on this soap opera. I know it is unpopular but here is my belief.
Werrason is one of the founders of Wenge Musica alongside Aime Buanga and Didier Masela. These men set the tone for Wenge Musica and Werrason is a talented musician. He used to play bass guitar and drums which Aime claimed in his interviews. Werrason is an artist and he knows how to do strategies. That is one of the reasons why he became a legend that he is today. He had a strong singing team during his best days with his band Wenge Maison Mere. Werrason has been able to show great singers, guitarists and animators. We have seen Heritier, Ferre Gola, Baby Ndombe, Flamme Kapaya (now he is a gopsel artist), Christian Solo (he is also a gospel artist), Brigade, Bill Clinton, Celeo Scram, Serge Mabiala (he sounded almost similar to Werrason during his younger years), JDT, etc.
However JB Mpiana was and will always be the true face of Wenge Musica. I am talking the original Wenge. Not Werrason nor Didier Masela nor Alain Makaba nor Blaise Bula nor Adolphe Dominguez. JB Mpiana was the glue that made Wenge Musica get big and he was the one who worked hard to get Wenge Musica to compete against older people like Bozi Boziana, Koffi Olomide, Lutuma Simaro, Madilu, Papa Wemba, Pepe Kalle, etc. It is not by accident that Koffi called himself Mukulukulu in response to JB being called Mukulu. Many people looked at JB Mpiana more than Werrason during the original Wenge days. JB Mpiana was the one that many fans were running towards.
JB Mpiana was destined to be the leader of the original Wenge Musica. If he was not the leader, there is no way Wenge Musica would be as great as it is today not only musically but even in a social sense. JB was the one who kept Adolphe, Alain, Blaise, Didier and Werrason together. If JB was not the in the picture, there is no way that Adolphe, Alain, Blaise, Didier and Werrason would have been in one place. Perhaps Didier and Werrason could have done somethings together as Mfumu Vata pointed out that these two men were friends or maybe perhaps Adolphe and Blaise could have done somethings together. Alain would have been a great session guitarist as Papa Wemba used him for his albums like Bakala dia Kuba and even Notre Pere.
But I could never see Adolphe, Alain, Blaise, Didier and Werrason truly happy together if there is no JB involved. Proof, remember 2010 or 2011, there was a Wenge reunion with these five men and it did not gather much buzz. Why? JB was not there despite the fact that actually Werrason was already more popular than JB at this point. The recent reunion had a little success because JB was involved and people felt that it was Wenge. Plus we know already that there is bad blood between Blaise Bula and Werrason as well as between Adolphe Dominguez and Werrason due to issues coming from their old days when they started Wenge Musica Maison Mere. Blaise Bula himself is not very social and is living a hypocritical relationship with Adolphe Dominguez as both have problems with Werrason. Werrason himself does not desire to truly speak to either Adolphe or Blaise. Didier just keeps himself away from the other Wenge guys apart from occassionally seeing JB. Alain Makaba still only prefers just to be with JB if there is a special occassion.
All these situations prove that JB Mpiana was destined to be the leader of Wenge Musica Original. JB was the only reason why Adolphe, Alain, Blaise, Didier and Werrason ever agreed to be together in the first place.
Jose Likalako was confirming much of Lofombo's version of events but also confirming a few of Djuna's version of situation like the prayer that Djuna mentioned to Mukelenge years back. He is the first Delta Force to kind of publically call out Lofombo too. It is clear from this interview that after Pepe Kalle's trip if Pepe Kalle had not died, Empire Bakuba would split into two camps.
This was a good performance however you start to notice that Empire Bakuba was losing some grip. I wonder why Pepe Kalle never started the song Chou with Desouza Santu but he started with Papy Tex (I like it but I just wonder). On live performances like this one, he starts the song Chou with Desouza.
