I said I was going to do an article on why Fally is the trendsetter of Congolese music a while ago but I've never actually have written it even though I've always taught about it and know what I'm going to write. The article should be done either by today or at worst tomorrow.

1.Solo Career
Before Fally went solo, It was pretty much the big three (Koffi,Werra,JB) (Wazekwa was on the come up) getting all the acclaim in Congolese music and if a band member  left a group it was either to go to another group, make an offshoot on the group you came from (ex.Les Marquis from Maison Mere) or run away in Europe. At the time the people who did actually go solo like Alain Mpela back in 2004 weren't all that successful even though a point could made that he didn't take music as serious anymore because of other ambitions. So when Fally released his debut album in June of 2006 and quickly selling over 100,000 copies which eventually got him a golden disc and got to play Olympia at the very beginning of his career it gave a lot of other fifth generation artists like Ferre, Kabose etc confidence to eventually go solo.

2. His Dancing Pt.1
As we all know Fally is one of the best dancers in any era and has entertained fans across Africa, Europe and North America for the last eighteen years as an musician. Fally’s signature dancing trait is his waist movement. And A lot of Africans have tried to dance like him especially when dancing to Congolese music and when someone is dancing good they are often referred to as Fally and have saying like “You dance like Fally” “That’s how Fally dances” etc.  There have been Congolese artists whether they want to admit it or not who have a similar waist movement to Fally. Fally has now become the standard to not only Congolese but African (Sub-Saharan at least) dancing.

His Dancing Part 2.
Ever since Fally has been solo artist, Fally started to do some hip-rolling type of moves in his videos. That was never done before in Congolese music and now a lot artist again whether they want to admit or not do it in their videos or in concerts.

3.His style of music
Yes there have been R&B songs before him like Robot but Fally has managed to do a really good job by mix two genres of traditional Congolese rhumba and R&B Fally has also done songs with a bit of English and sebene and even released a hip-hop song. Fally now is about to rlelase an international album. And many others have made R&B type songs and will continue to make it in the future. Fally has also said that many artsists try to do songs like Orgasy (Which is true) in terms of lyrics (sex,womans body and waist movement) and the melody.
 



4.His Style
When Fally first came out as a solo artist he had a certain look to him. He had locs and dressed like how do in the West (Like he didn’t before) and a lot of Congolese back in Congo and abroad started to dress like him and Fally is fashionable guy so it stuck on and Fally helped bring certain attire in Congo. Like a lot Congolese in Congo say “I’m dressing like I’m in Europe). Fally also has had slogans that are being widely used in the Congolese community like “Net Na Film” (Like a movie) “BUNDANA NA NGO” (Fight for it/Fight over it) and Kitokos/Tokoss (slang for beautiful). Fally also has a lot of nicknames and now a lot of artist has a lot nicknames. Fally has gotten a Lambo and some others want to bring another Italian car, Fally plays somewhere and others want to play at that very location. Fally is also the first 5th generation artist to have his own label and release an group album which others are surely to follow. Like Ambassy Bourgoeis said Fally’s past is some people’s hope and it isn’t a very bad one. And that is why I think Fally Ipupa is a trendsetter in not Congolese Music but African music as well as he is a very sought after artist.

He is and will for years to come

seriously  Guys ... i was like  when i glanced  the title to this  post .. the first word that came out of my mouth was WTF .. then i realized  that it was spelled  Trendsetter instead of Transgender ..lol 

Jdog,you must know that Ferre went solo before Fally. It is Bill Clinton Kalondji who motivated Ferre to go solo with his success with the single Kiyoki  na kiyoki and contract to promote Skol lager. Ferre returned to Kin and assembled his band before Koffi lured him with a lucrative contract which unsettled Fally and others in Quartier Latin.

 Koffi agreed with Ferre that the band Ferre had formed would carry on but Ferre was not allowed to release anything with his band until he completed his contract with Quartier Latin,Koffi put Zobozi in charge of Ferre's band which kept rehearsing. It is only when Ferre realised that Koffi had allowed Fally to release his solo album whilst still in Quartier Latin that Ferre who had already been Fally's opposite in the Koffi vs Werra wars decided to breach his contract with Koffi and went into studio to also work on the album he has suspended and that is why he released it shortly after Fally's,he was prepared. Maybe Koffi wanted to launch Fally's solo career first so that he Fally dominates instead of the Wengeman Ferre.

Sly, Ferre might have gone solo first but he joined Quatier Latin. He didn't have to join the group but he did anyways. Ferre was happy being in a group but as soon as he saw Fally having success he went solo and rushed his album even though it was a good one. Who's Zobozi and how would he manage it in Ferre's absence?
