He says he will be taking medicine for the next six months and if it does not improve he'll have to go under surgery and it pisses him off because he loves to sing and he is told to rest

Indeed. This could very well be a case of vocal hemorrhage, which has a tendency of happening people who sing with power and/or inadvertently put extra stress on vocals cords. This means he can't sing at all for months and there's a 50/50 chance of needing surgery.

Let's hope he recovers well
