the hysteria that everyone has exhibited on this post is exactly what i am talking about. you guys are up in arms when you are called out but when you guys are crucifying the current quartier latin and everything contemporary about congolese music no one should question you guys and challenge your righteousness. please guys don't act too righteous. popular music is popular music. it is not church music. sexual connotations and innuendos are part and parcel of rumba congolaise long before the 80s 90s and 2000s that you guys are referring to.

to say that i work for koffi because i appreciate my love for this new song of his is exactly what is wrong with the righteousness that you guys are displaying on this forum. so you guys are so right that no one should disagree with you unless they work for the artists they appreciate? come on man. i am a non congolese african lover of this beautiful music. i came too hard on all of you precisely because of this righteousness and high mindedness that all of you are taking regarding the current quartier latin and contemporary congolese music in general. the founder of congolese music wendo kolosoy was kicked out of kinshasa because the catholic church thought his "marie louise" was a song that raised people from the dead. like i said, rumba congolaise is rumba congolaise. it is popular music. it is contemporary music. it is the documentary of what is going on in the congolese street. it is a controversial and ever evolving product.

and on the point about copying Nigerians and Ivoiriens...no one can really tell an artist where they should get inspiration or not. do you guys know that the entirety of rumba congolaise is an immitation of Son Cubano? The music that we love so much today and the reason that such forums as congovibes exist started because of Son Cubano music being playing in Belgian Congo and the Congolese people started to pick up on it, appropriated it and made it their own. So should we throw the entirety of the genre of Rumba Congolaise because its genesis is from Son Cubano? Because it is a copy? Come on guys. The Nigerian artists and Ivoriens who are better than Congolese music at the moment are the grandchildren of Congolese music themselves. These things go in cycle. Rumba Congolaise is going through a recession. Which is normal. Soon it will reign again. But in the meantime let us not be so high-minded and on our high horse as if we really know what being an artist is or what the creative process truly is. When gems like this "Nyataquance" drop let us appreciate them objectively and ride through this slump of Congolese music not reigning all over Africa. The cycle will come around and Congo music will rule again.

Like i said...the whinning is just becoming too redundant on here. it is not as if these Congolese artists are not trying their absolute best especially in this current Congolese climate that is totally against them politically economically and financially. i truly think they are doing their best to be true to their craft. we over here on our computers acting as if we can put a song together really need to start appreciating and understanding that.

*and don't worry about archos please. the post was never about him. don't make it about him. he is a very sensible, measured, and mature contributor of this forum. the elder in fact, going by the quality and impartiality of his contributions. my first and subsequent posts on his initial post was not directed at him but for the rest of you who reacted precisely in the way that i knew you would react because my post dared to challenge your righteousness about congolese music and the current koffi and quartier latin in particular.

*masatomo I agree with you. It is not my intention to force anything on anybody. freedom of speech like you said. for yourself and for me too. I wholeheartedly agree with what you said and if it seems like my intention from the words i wrote is to force anybody into anything that is not my intention believe me. written words are not spoken words. if my written words come off too demanding and forceful that is not intention. i am just challenging a laziness of opinion that is creeping into this forum. it is the usual nostalgia and romanticism of "things were so great back then". it is becoming too lazy and everyone is falling on it and objectivity and genuine criticism becomes impossible because we are just like this herd of like-minded people with group mentality like how everyone is supporting each other in the antagonism and fightback against my initial post. this group-think and herd mentality does not engender an environment of objective, realistic, and healthy criticism and analysis.

Rumbalova,it is your opinion and it is cool. People have got the right to their opinions and for me,I wouldn't know where the so called "righteousness and high mindedness" you claimed are coming from though. Anyways,it is still your opinion yet you do not have to use it to steer the hornet's nest by throwing words around. People have got the right to their various musical tastes(of which I don't think it is criminal). It is absolutely a free world. There will always be reactions/responses to every post, thought or comment raised on the forum so take it as such and move on. There is no point over flogging issues.

I don't have Deezer but if this is the one posted by Ndombolinho on his Facebook page then i just have to laugh, it's garbage and the reviews on Ndombolinho's page by hundreds of followers are clear testimony. Even some fans of Koffi are ridiculing Kirikou for his crappy voice and saying of all of the atalukus Koffi has ever had, Kirikou has got to be the worst, some comments in lingala are just too funny, was laughing all day yesterday and today going through the comments. Lol

Yea, Kirikou is definitely the most "street"/chégue animateur he's has had - very unpolished. I think he's insisting on giving him exposure because of the present polemic. Whenever that is resolved and the Boss dance gets old, he'll drop him like a rock like most of the QL atalakous before him.
