Guys, do you believe that Heritier's album Retirada is still unappreciated in our music scene, artistically speaking I don't believe his being congratulated enough, that album and the songs were almost a masterpiece.

The big issue was the lack of good self-promotion post-release. If he and Monsoh put in the promoting effort they used right after he left Maison mère it would been better received.

Retirada is one of the best albums of these last two with QQJD. The compositions of the album are excellent, the quality of the recording is at the top. Heritier has been able to mix a good variety of musical styles: the traditional rumba, the generics (the generic Retirada being the most missed), the rumba / RnB (Tout en noir, J'aime mon mari...), the Hip-Hop / Rap (Give Me, Cala Boca) and so on, folk sounds (Bondela Jires and Abruptly). Heritier did very well by singing in English (Give Me) and French (Adrenaline). In short for a first album, Héritier did what not much artists could have done.

As brother Matebu said, the album would have been much better received and would be more successful if he and Monsoh had promoted it better and in my opinion, there is also the fact that the fans of Maison Mere (not having accepted the departure of Heritier) created this general idea by arguing that Retirada was a flop and that it was worth nothing which is totally false. Aside from the generics, not much Maison Mere's albums have had rumbas as elaborate as Retirada.

For me in addition to what the others have said, i feel its also one of those albums which you learn to appreciate with the passage of time. Jaime mari, Affection, BM being some of my favourites.
