Because the most popular songs in the world right now are cheaply made crap songs that've been turned into challenges & the more often than not it's Spanish or Korean. Has to be a real short also, so no 10 minute generiques....


 
The other issue is that is other cultures have taken a lot from Congolese music but without giving proper credit. A Colombian band literally made a start-to-finish remix of Extra Musica's "Etat major" and it has more views that Extra's original.

I appreciate that they appreciate our music, but still they should indicate somewhere that this is a remix.

talking about viral songs,probably the last strong viral generique(selfie) i heard several times that koffi tried a third version adding "ekoti ekoti te tia soyi po ekota bien " and after buka kingo "pesa bisous dis lui je t aime" and that censorship blocked it because of "tia soyi po ekota bien"

This would have been perfect lol

SN, I feel like the masses want really skeletal and simple music lately, I don't think they'll be able to handle our music. Despite the excessive borrowing from what I keep hearing. Sadly the quality of mainstream music is going down across the globe.

I do not know why Colombians do that,
The most embarassing was the Shakira Rip of the World Cup tune " Its Time for Africa".

It created such a big fuss she the World Cup Organisers had to acknowledge the Cameroonian troupe that originally composed the tune and had to pay some good money to avoid a PR disaster.

They should make an effort to contact the original composers and give credit.
