I think it may be Bord Ezanga Kombo, his albums after that were quite meh

Abacabara since that I hold alot a memories with that album kiekiekie. I remember how commbattans in Paris, London & Brussels were listening that album loudly in their cars, while they just came with that concert-embargo and put the whole album on internet before it's offical release (it was not the final version). Everybody danced to the generics Jeunes Pato, On Est Ensemble and Toukou-Toukou with the rumba's like 12eme Dan, Etoile d'Etat, Desormais, Emballe Moi, Je t'Aime, Boulevard, Cheval & Mosisi in wedding parties. Cheval, Mosisi, Boulevard, Emballe Moi & are good songs for the night hahahahahahahaha. Older people complaining about the explict lyrics of the songs. Abacadabra stayed 15 months on number one on the music-charts in Kinshasa & Brazzaville. Koffi was preparing already a maxi-single to fight Fally's Power and Ferre's Boite Noire calling it Mwana ya Abacadabra, but Ferre & Fally didn't release their album in December, so Koffi chilled down. Giving the three generics of that maxi-single to Cindy and let her animate in it, which pissed his atalaku's off with those generics ending up in the 6-6-6 album.

Abacadabra is along with B.E.K. one of the rare Koffi album who were immedialty accepted from day 1, while it takes Koffi mostly 1 or 2 to be accepted. But it's crazy people forgot the songs very quickly reminding only 3 or 4 of the 20. While back in 2012 alot of people knew almost the whole album, including the officially unreleased songs who were put on internew by the commbattans. I still like that album, but there are some who don't like it because of the lyrcis, started to hate Cindy and others who are very nostalgic to the days of Loi, Effrakata because of the many sebenes songs not paying attetion to the rumba's of those days skipping them always. I started to dislike Cindy from Skol Madramanda, but from Abacadabra started to like her again. She had to leave Koffi after the 6-6-6 album. Koffi was very egoist to let her only sing remix-songs, instead of singing new songs. I guess that Koffi was scared that he would lose her like Fally in 2006 if he gave her the artistic freedom on 6-6-6-.

Monde Arabe for me. After that he stopped being serious.

Once you get past the fact that génériques are not to up par, I thought BEK was a masterpiece and very deserving of the last gold disc Koffi earned

Maybe one day I’ll mentally prepare myself to listen to 13eme apôtre in full, right now i have zero interest in the album

that's a bandalbum. The bandalbums Koffi made are Pas de Faux, Magie, Ultimatum, Droit de Veto, Force de Frappe, Affaire d'Etat and Danger de Mort. Those albums where the musicians of Quartier Latin are given the opportunity to put a song a show their talent. The split with Academia changed Koffi a little. You will notice that his singers didn't have alot of vocals in his solo albums made before Attentat, but from Attentat until Monde Arabe they had alot of vocals.

@ vieux Mvulusi96, I feel like Monde Arabe with songs like Silvie and  others, there's professionalism. Enough quality rumbas and really good sebenes that you can dance to. BEK might be listened I agree, but its not as Monde Arabe...by that time you could feel that Koffi's sound is being watered down, I dunno by Cindy or by himself.
I will never have the courage to listen to 13e apotre, and I think Koffi himself knows it and thats why he is bombarding us with a new song every month, and nothing he produces is good anymore, quality worsens and some songs are just torture. I wish he can just retire like he promised and just be a mentor for upcoming musicians.

I get your point. This is because one man and that man name is Philipe Guez he arranged Koffi's solo albums including bandalbums from Koweit Rive Gauche until Monde Arabe. He didn't participate on Danger de Mort & Abacadabra. His contribution on B.E.K. was very little compared to Effrakata, Wake Up, etc. There he arranged Festival, Lovemycine, Grand Pretre Mere, Plat Favori. Most of the areangements were done by Mbetenge who was the brain behind B.E.K., Danger de Mort & Abacadabra. That's why alot of people are saying that something is missing in Koffi's album since Monde Arabe, but knowing What. While it is Philipe's touch. His work on Silivi, Litio Ya Calendrier, Esakola, Papito Charme, Choc, only namimg a few were excellent. He used also to make sounds for videogames, movies and worked also for other artists Youssou Ndour, Ismael Lo, etc. I wonder why Koffi doesn't work with anymore. He can easily pay a ticket for him to Kinshasa for some sessions. His absence made Koffi's work starting to sound monotonious from B.E.K. with the focus being more on the guitars (acoustic) on the most songs. Songs like BB Gout, Sixieme Chantier, l'Eau l'Eau l'Eau. While
the most rumba's of Koffi have the same rhythm since Fouta Djallon, but Philipe work madevit sound everytime different in another color. Which isn't the case with Abacadabra, B.E.K. and also 13eme Apotre. In the albums, Effrakata, Monde Arabe & Loi Philpe would put his sound above it and delete the sounds of the guitars, except the lead-guitar. On Phaseur he played the rhythm on the keyboard and did the same thing with Parking Ya Baba and also the remix of S.O.S. with Do Akongo (the original author of the song) accompaying him some  seconds later in the song with his guitar.




I also still haven't listened to 13eme Apotre (except the generics) until this day. I tried to listen to it 1 month ago, but I was already tired after the first song. The only song I know is Koffi Conform and Cobetox featering Ferre.

Since 13eme Apotre Koffi only released Nyataquance, from which he is releasing each month a videoclip with people thinking that he is releasing new songs, while they are from Nyataquance.

V12, Loi and Effrakata

1. V12 For the rumbas was legendary still to this day no African artist has reached those heights in terms of songwriting, meaningful songs etc.

2. Loi is the number one generique of his era, EVERYBODY, know that songs not only Congolese, Nigerian, Angolan, South Africans, Zambians, Ivorians, Beninois once I saw my Benin ex girl sharing Loi and I was like how do you know this song?


3. Effrakata

Very good album, excellent album great generique and traditional vibes, Bilan, Effrakata, Generation Bercy are classic songs, even though some songs especially rukbas weren't as good as in the Loi/V12 days.
