I was watching this earlier.... RIP to both legends, but they talk like they weren't themselves involved in deep polemics when they were younger

So crazy to hear Madilu calling Papa Wemba his big brother. Many musicians of OK Jazz were younger than Wemba, but them playing with Franco made people think/see as older. The same for artists in Afrisa, Bella Bella. It was rare to see someone of the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s teaming up with guys who are 3 years younger then him. But Wemba who was born in 1949 (other say 1947) was singing with Evoloko, Nyoka Longo, Bimi, Bozi, Mabuela & Gina who were 5 years younger than him and sometimes even dominating him.

Yeah, but the polemic of the Tabu Ley, Franco, Vicky Longomba, Grand Kalle, etc was not the same like Generation Wenge, Koffi & Wemba were doing. They were going to far and trying to kill each other trought girls (kobenda limba), dissing family members, etc.

I disagree. Tabu Ley, Franco, Grand Kalle and their age had their polemic but it was nothing like the generation Wenge. Sure they had women issues but it was not as personal as today. First of all, Grand Kalle (rip) did not anything dirty. I don't believe that they actually tried to kill each other. That is nonsense. If that was the case, we would hear it by now. Congolese are known for not very able to shut the fuck up.

Tabu Ley and Madilu were one of the disgusting human beings in their generations. Tabu Ley was jealous of Franco because he did not have the greatness that Franco had. Tabu Ley could only beat him in singing but eveything else, Franco was much better than Tabu Ley. Even Pepe Kalle is better than Tabu Ley regarding management. Franco and Pepe Kalle were better managers than Tabu Ley. Tabu Ley was stupid for not getting Pepe Kalle into Afrisa. Tabu Ley never appreciated talent or knew a thing about talent.

Madilu was an ass and very stupid. I am sorry but I need to say it. He was absolute ass. He was addicted with Simaro for some reason. He diced him pretty often on songs (Consolation, Simeon, etc) saying "Tata'yo" and "Tonton". It was Madilu who destroyed OKJ because he let his ego get the best of him and Simaro was an idiot for letting Madilu going back into OKJ when his personality was for himself so much. Madilu was self-centered prick. It was him who played a role in creating the stupidity that we see in Congolese music. Madilu made so many stupid decisions such as forming Bakuba Mayopi (insulting Pepe Kalle) as well as separating from Pepe Kalle (he wanted to sound like him), refusing to sing with Nyboma in Lipua Lipua (he overused Nyboma on his solo albums) and on top of that being in OKJ (bad move) as well as not leaving it after Franco's death. If Madilu had any intelligence, he would have been better with Nyboma than being with Franco or others.

I wish Madilu and Werrason had done a duet album together. It would have been nice.

To be honest bro, some of your analysis' just leaves me scratching my head. You're insulting the great Madilu (RIP) like you knew him personally. Also, some of your statements here are not factually correct.

I think that you didn't read my comment well.

If he didn't appreciate talent why he recruited Sam Mangwana in 1965, Ndombe Opetum in 1968, Kiese Diambu, etc. Hahaha Tabu Ley jealous of Franco. If you were close to people who worked with Franco and Tabu Ley wouldn't have say that. Btw Franco was a big fan of Tabu Ley with him then recruiting alot of musicians who came from African Fiesta/Afrisa (Mangwana, Ndombe, Mavatiku, etc.) and OK Jazz changing their style in to the fiesta-style. The problem with Taby Ley was that he didn't pay his musicians which made his musicians and people close to him calling him Vieux Kasongo with every 2/3 years splinterbands being created. Les Maquisards of Sam Mangwana in 1968. Afrizam of Ndombe Opetum, etc. and when the economic crisis started in Zaïre (mid-70's) musicians starting running away in Europe. How he could get Pepe Kalle if he was already under the wings of Grand Kalle ?

Madilu didn't kill OK Jazz. It was Franco's family who killed OK Jazz because of money with Simaro and co leaving OK Jazz. Madilu wanted to join Bana OK, but Lutumba Simaro refused. It was not Madilu who formed Bakuba Mayopi and Madilu & Pepe Kalle used to be big friends. Before Pepe Kalle's death they planned to record a duo-album, but he sadly died. Bakuba Mayopi didn't even had succes back in the days and didn't even used to be a splinterband of Empire Bakuba. If Madilu didn't suceed in solo career then nobody would have talked about that band or people would talk/forget about that band the way they were/are talking/forggeting about Attraction Babylone, SVP La Gamme, Promise Musica or Lemba Musica which were one of the most talented bands of the 90's and 80's
