Didier Lacoste's playback as a Maison Mere member and Adolphe's playback after leaving Maison Mere, after watching this I realized that at this point our music was the no.1 of the continent and Wenge were totally dominating the Congolese scene both Wenge's and the newly born Wenge Tonya Tonya.  Lacoste has some confidence around this time he was full of himself and Tata had success not even a full leader yet shows how things went downhill and on women Lolo claimed something a bit prophetic how Werrason doesn't need their support as his already big star and yes 3 years after the Wenge seperation the man played Bercy, European/African/North American Tours and Golden Disc in the space of three years come he deserved more at that ceremony of merits his done a lot even more then Clan Langa Langa members. Kinzonzi means palaver in Kikongo. Both families (of the man and the woman) will meet each other and have each a nzonzi (spokeman) who will talk for them and on the end the family of the man will pay the bill to the family of the woman (which they had already send to the man, which includes mostly money, some clothes, crates of drinks,..) and on the end after talking, the woman becoming part of the man's family. We can say that its a traditional wedding. If they discover that the woman is pregnant, then the man has to pay a fine to woman's family (In Congo they come with a goat).

hahahaha Bercy and Olympia during the era of Yo Nani ? Are kidding me ? Do you know how big Bercy is ? In that era artists were spending 6 months or even 1 year to mobilize people in whole Europe (UK, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany) for their concert at Bercy and were then still not sure if they would fill it. Big artist like Youssou Ndour have sometimes mpiaka in Bercy. 

 Wazekwa performed at LSC just before releasing Yo Nani, but the hall wasn't really packed like the way Koffi, JB, etc. were doing in that era. Wazekwa had succes with Signature and Yo Nani but not on the level of JB Mpiana and Werrason and didn't had a big fanbase in Europe that could fill halls for him.

Wazekwa crazy succes started in 2004 when he released Et Apres, the generique and the album were a huge succes, getting then also a kora-award. It was then that he could already have performed at Olympia. But nevertheless he performed there in 2009 and the show being voted as the show of the year and the dvd selling very well. He could performed there quick,  but those shows are often not well organised and the leader not receiving engough money with him not wanting to share the little amount he received with his musicians, because he wants to pay an expensive car or build a big house and the band then often spliting after those big events at Olympia, Zenith & Bercy.

Adolphe wasn't very smart. He was one of the stars in 2001 and filled LSC and Olympia. But he forced Lacoste out the band and fired Shella Mputu. He lost already alot of keymembers during the first tour (Chibida Dumbu, Papillion, etc.) because he didn't pay them which made him stay a month in Europe after the end of tour to find them, also asking money to his brother in law (Rami Amisi) to get them back in Kinshasa, but it didn't help. Instead to focus on work, he started to team up often with JB Mpiana , do polemic against Werrason (while Maison Mere didn't react anymore) and  recruit copycats of Didier Lacoste, Shella Mputu which made Felix Wazekwa slowly taking his spot. The reception of the Mouna-album was already so-so because of those many departures and many problems, but his succes really ended when his album 25 minutes-Jugement Dernier flopped.

Its really sad because before the release of Kibuisa Mpimpa he was more popular then Werrason in Europe, because people felt sorry for him after seeing the interview he made with Yves Kambala about his depature which made Werrason fearing about his succes, because his shows in Europe started to be mpiaka. So he sended Ferre, Baby, Bill, Sankara and co to react with Zacharie Bababaswe, but it ridiculized him even more. Adolphe's playback shows in Brussels and Paris started to boost his succes more and he had a big part of those influent "bana poto" behind him (Photo Joel Mbetenge, Loris La Congolaise, etc.). He had a crazy crowd during his arrival in Brazzaville and return in Kinshasa  and was able to fill YMCA, Studio Maman Ngebi and perform in front of a big crowd in Mbuji Mayi and Bandalungwa  and his band started to give Maison Mere a hard time in Kinshasa despite the succes of Kibuisa Mpimpa. If Adolphe knew how to manage his band then he could have been a serious danger for JB Mpiana and Werrason the years that followed, but he lost everything in 1/2 years.

Lacoste was even about the leave Tonya Tonya when they were on tour in Europe, but they reconciled. The tensions became stronger when they arrived in Kinshasa and Adolphe making then from Lacoste a simple musician and not more the president and humilating him by making from Shella Mputu his chief. The tensions became worser worser and Lacoste decided then to contact Werra's wife to rejoin Wenge Maison Mere. When Adolphe heard about it he tried to get him back, but it was already to late. He got presented at La Zamba Playa and made a famous interview with Gaspard Love in the woods (that interview was so funny, i hope to see it one day back on youtube). But Lacoste got a strong car-accident in Kinshasa not long after it (you must have seen that car, he was so lucky. 90% people in those cases would have died), so he couldn't participate to the recording-sessions of La Que Leu Leu in Europe. Ok I always thought Shella came to Quartier Latin directly after getting fired. Damn it seems like a lot of congolese artists got involved in car accident. Is it true that Maison Mère members like Adjani did a interview when they said they were against his return because he dissed Werra ? Except Baby Ndombe.

Shella Mputu tried to join Wenge Bcbg, but JB Mpiana refused to recruit him. So he stayed like 1 year at home and then decided to join Quartier Latin with Adolphe Dominguez coming quick on tv, claiming that they stole his musician and Shella Mputu coming the next day with a job application-letter on tv to prove that he came to Quartier Latin by himself.

Yeah, it used to happen in those days often especially when they are about to release a new album or perform at a big musichall in Paris. I remember that almost all QL-keymembers had big car-accidents before performing at Bercy.

I don't know if some Wmm-members made an interview about that, but it can be possible (there were alot of VHS-compilation on the market at that era). But I know that the press reported that Adjani was against Lacoste participating on La Que Leu Leu (Adjani ended by also not participating to the album). Lacoste himself said in Kinshasa that he was ok with it and that he would wait for them in Kinshasa, but Werrason started to prepare a visa-request for him  so that he could join them in Europe, but the car-accident messed everything up.

yeah, Lacoste sung those vocals on the first version, but when he left Aimelia influenced Werra to gave vocal to him since that he had only 1 vocal. So they erased 9 vocals of Lacoste that he sung in 13 Ans, Fair-Play, Fleur d'Amour, Destin Ya Moto, Ntima Mbote, Blandine, Le Grand Monsieur, Obiang and Annie and gave it to Ferre, Adjani and Aimelia who sung it on their on way. But you could still hear Lacoste voice on the chorus of all those songs, especially Fleur d'Amour. I remember seeing Lacoste doing all his 9 vocals he had to sing in Kibuisa Mpimpa during an interview in Kinshasa.

Adolphe Dominugez had already left before the recordings of Kibuisa Mpimpa. They started recording Kibuisa Mpimpa somewhere in February 2001. While Adolphe already left in 2000 after performing in Strasbourg (when Adjani put chewingum on his jacket) deciding then to stay in Europe and Wenge Maison Mere going to Cameroun and the Kora Awards without him. Burkina Faso, Serge Mabiala and Lacoste also stayed with people speculating about them forming a new band with Adolphe in Europe, but it didn't happen. They all rejoined when Maison Mere returned in Europe performing in Paris (fara fara against Academia) and on eve-year eve in Geneve. After the Clan Wenge-nzong nzing it was planned that Serge Mabiala, Japonais and Burkina Faso would stay and form a Tonya Tonya aile Paris, but they all ended up by returning back to Kinshasa. Only Shora Kwilungongo stayed and participated during Tonya Tonya's tour in Europe and the Mouna-album.

Adolphe Dominguez didn't had vocals for Kibuisa Mpimpa, but it was planned that Adolphe would put one song in his album to please his fans and mabanga-customers. It must be Calendrier or Tiens Moi La Main (I don't remember anymore since its almost 20 years ago), he started already to promote both songs after the release of Solola Bien.

It looks like you didn't read well what I posted. yes, they left because they weren't paid, Adolphe said then that he would pay them in Kinshasa (which is an old the trick of bandleaders to not pay their, Tabu Ley, Emeneya, Wemba, Werrason often did that to their musicians), but there was also a conflict between Adolphe and his musicians. Spino stayed after the tour in Europe, rejoined Victoria Eleison who was also in Europe during that time and married with a white woman (they are already divorced and Spino is forbidden to see his children). He had only 2 vocals in Mouna, but in Victoria he had the opportunity to put a song in the album Nouvel Ordre. Didier Anaconda left because he fought with Adolphe in studio while recording Mouna. Because he discovered that they wouldn't record his songs. Didier Anaconda used to live in Brussels and participated to Adolphe playbacks shows in Europe and went with Adolphe to Kinshasa to form Wenge Tonya Tonya. His wife was against it and decided to divorce with Anaconda, staying behind with the kids in Brussels. Adolphe promised him that he would put one song in the Affaire Tonya Tonya-album for the way he sacrified his life for joining his band, but he ended up by having not a song in that album and just 1 vocal. Adolphe tried to calm him down, promising that he would have 2 songs on the next album, but he lied to him. Others left in Kinshasa, Washington went to join Quartier Latin 1 year later after being contacted by Koffi Olomide, J3 joined Maison Mere to replace Serge Mabiala after being contact by Maison Mere's staff (he could already join in Europe, but prefered to return with Tonya Tonya to Europe), Lisha Shombo went to join Cultura Pays-Vie of Felix Wazekwa,..

Lacoste wasn't arrogant in those days. He was very humble, very calm and didn't talk much. He used cry in often in private about his conflict with Adolphe. Charly Balaka used to mock him about that last year, I think that it was during his interview with Frank Stemay. I launghed so hard about that interview, Charly Balaka saying about Lacoste "alelaka pamba pamba". He killed me in the same interview by saying the way he ran away from WMM-fanatics when he said that he left and joined Adolphe's camp. Lacoste started to become arrogant after the succes of Medicament and it became worser with the succes of Kingolo Tir Au But in 2010. Those stories were made up by staffmembers to get Adolphe's heart, but the same staffmembers all abandoned Adolphe when his succes was over. Lacoste was so hurted by those stories and even wanted to leave in Europe, but Adolphe's wife reconciled them.
