Because 90% of the music that was aired on the Kenyan radio was Congolese and most people were only listing to Congolese music. That’s why they came with that ban. When Nakeyi Nairobi was released, they quickly lifted the ban. In the late 70s you had something similar in Ivory Coast, coming with the rule that only songs that are sung in French are allowed.
