Back in 1964, 1/3 of the Congo was in control by the Simba-rebel. But after a few months the Congolese army started to get slowly control back with help from white mercenaries who were trained by the CIA. The Simba-rebels suspected the European people living in Kisangani (back then called Stanleyville) for giving information, so the decided to take all white people hostage in a hotel and threatened to kill them all. The Belgian army and the USA decided to interven with two hostage rescue operations called Operation Dragon Rouge and Operation Dragon Noir to end end hostage and the rebellion.

I noticed that many Congolese took in the past the nicknames Bob Denard and Jean Schramme, who were both mercenaries. Bob Denard helping the State of Katanga (1960-1963) until it came back to DR Congo and later helping DR Congo to end the Simba-rebellion (1964). Jean Schramme also being one of the many mercenaries in Katanga who were behind Moise Tshombe and later like Bob Denard fighting against the Simba-rebellion and in 1967 trying to overthrow Mobutu to make Tshombe the new president which didn't work.

Did you have a degree in history? You're very knowledgeable, I learn something new everytime you post.

In your opinion, would RDC be worst had Mobutu never been overthrown and establish a dynasty like Obiang or Bongo?

Zaire was already dead from the late 80s and the situation became worser because of the lootings of 1991, 1992 and the Zaire currency not having any value (having bills of 1 miljon Zaire) and politicans creating more inflation by more printing money (not having learned what happened in the Weimar Republic). The economy was the death. The education was also death (Mobutu closing the universities multiple times because of them protesting against him). The unemployment being high. The army being death and those coming from the Equateur-region getting the most favour in the army, especially those from the Ngbandi-tribe. Creating a monarchy wouldn't work, nobody of his children was  prepared. I think that someone in the army of the same tribe or someone like Honore Ngbanda(who was at that time called the Terminator) would have replaced Mobutu. His son Niwa Mobutu could replace him died, but he died in 1994 because of AIDS.
