Damn. I had written a beautiful response but lost it. Let me try to recatch that.
I had said that if you follow BCBG shows, concerts and listen to the songs (especially Sebene) you will notice if you also listen to Ziko a lot of similarities between Zaiko and VCBG and especially from Genta.
With that said guitarist who make it in big groups usually play in street bands and have an older brother or a mentor who take that role who teach them old songs and different styles so if you make it into a big group it is expected for you to play all of the popular past and present songs.
For example another example is how Papa Lutumba Simaro thought guitar to Sarah Solo etc.
