In 1979 they were invited for a huge music-festival in West Berlin (back then both Germany and Berlin were divided between communist and capitalist part). Bands of all continents took part to it. All musicians who were participating were receiving each day 50 Marks as allowance (without counting the money they would receive after the end of the festival). But those of Tabu Ley didn't, them getting just 5 marks each day. The Senegalese musicians who used to stay in the same hotel like them and being friends since Africa, were asking them why they never would buy coffee. Eddi Mabungu replying by saying where would they get that money. The musicians from Senegal explaining that they were paid each day 50 marks.
After the concert Eddi Mabungu confronted Tabu Ley in the bus about what he did to them, but Tabu Ley didn't say anything. They performed in East-Berlin and they weren't also paid for that show.
