I read somewhere an article of an old interview Wemba made in France I think 1988 or 1989 and him saying that he would perform soon at Palais des Sports and Zentih de Paris (Back then only Fela Kuti at Zenith as African artist). After many years doing "world-music" he made his name known in African countries where he was first not known and also around Europe and America for the white public, getting also different trophees. But he never performed at those mythic halls of Paris on his own, just doing first-part at Zenith, Bercy and Olympia for different pop-artists. Which made me think that if it wasn't the polemic of Zacharie Bababaswe and the Congolese music. He would maybe never having performed there despite all that world-music he doing and support he had from the French press. Just being limited at La Cigale, Theatre de la Ville,e tc. for white people and LSC, Bataclan & La Madeleine for our community. Because it's when Koffi performed at Zenith and Zacharie's video that his fans, staff and the Congolese community were pushing him to peform at Zenith de Paris in 1999 to prove Koffi (who was seen as many as an imposter) a point
