They claimed that the award would be the true representation of African music. But I didn't see Ferre Gola's name while his song Bizorbi being a big hit this year. But at the same time artists like Locko, KO-C from Cameroun and Emma'a from Gabon being nominated in the category Best Francophone artist. Where are Wally B. Seck, Josey ?

Also why is Aya Nakamura nominated in the category best album and not Fally Ipupa's Formule 7 ? Isn't she from the diaspora of France ? I will not surprised if they would give her that award, since that tv-channel Trace Urban is from France.

Most nominations are exactly the same like that of AFRIMMA from Dallas (US) which isn't credible anymore and has lost his prestige since 6 years. They don't have something like Best Mbalax artist, Best Rumba/Ndombolo artist, Best Kuduro, Best Zouk/Kompa artist, Best Coupe Decale, etc.Trace just not having the division of East Africa, Southern Africa, West Africa and Central Africa like AFRIMMA. Only North Africa being left. I think they did it for the musiclabels and Francophone sponsors who have many artists from Algeria, Tunesia and Maroc affliated to them and also for Trace-Tv itself. Them having categories for UK, France&Belgium, knowing that they can't nominate diaspora artists in African categories which awards like BET Awards & AFRIMMA do. They have also a categorie for the Carribean, but not dividing them in Francophone and Anglophone like Africa. One category for artists coming from the  Indian Ocean which has many (former) French colonies and a big community in France. Rwanda also having his own category, because of the awards being held there and the main-sponsor being  "Visit Rwanda"

Awards aren't based on musical talent anymore they become a popularity/advertisement contest in which even if you do the best music video ever with the most beautiful song you won't win cause you ain't getting views like a Fally, Innoss, Diamond would do
