This was a great album indeed. I remember playing this almost everyday. Djouna Mumbafu was not lucky though. He was supposed to have a second album around 2008 or 2009 but his car accident ruined all of that and he has not been the same even though his voice is still in tact (rare for most Animators). Unfortunately his dig at Lofombo however does for me confirm that Lofombo seems to be the one telling truth about Djuna calling him a witch. For me, it seems like Djouna Mumbafu (Djuna) is very mad that Lofombo was getting more favors from Pepe Kalle during the last year of Pepe Kalle's life. Because Djouna Mumbafu and Gode Lofombo were once best friends during the earlier years of Empire Bakuba but now they are in very bad terms.
It is not a secret that Djuna used to say it everywhere that Lofombo is a witch. He started saying that when he left Delta Force and claiming that he spiritually challenged him when they were in Delta Force and also continued to do that when having his own band to fight him. Koffi when having an interview Ado Yuhe, talked about Maisha Parc and saying that when the elders asked about which bandleaders had problems, so that they could reconcile them, Djuna being the first one to say that he had a problem. Koffi imitating Djuna Mumbafu's voice, saying that he pointed immediaty his finger towards Lofombo, saying that he is a witch and Lofombo looking around and asking with a soft voice what he had done (koffi also imitating Lofombo) hahahahha.
I don't think that Djuna was mad about Lofombo getting many favors from Pepe Kalle, also in his last years. At that time Djuna was the only one that used to visit him (Lofombo wasn't going to rehearshal anymore) and also being with the newly recruited dancers/singers (that became Delta Force). Things only changed when they both left Empire Bakuba to form Delta Force with the newly recruited singers and dancers. Lofombo claims that he was manipulating singers and dancers by coming with stories to get him out the band. Lofombo himself once said in an interview that he could not accept about Djuna giving him orders and that he felt like Djuna thinking that he was Pepe Kalle to give him orders. Looking back to it, it was really sad. Because Delta Force had alot of potential and capitalized on the succes of Cocktail, having many concerts around Kinshasa and also one in Moanda and Matadi. They already finished the manquette-version of their album that Somina Nadim had to produce. Somina was really disappointed when he learned that they separated and listened to the manquette-version.
To conclude, it was just a war of leadership that ended bad and guys also not having the same vision. An example is how Djuna talked about an issue, when a dancer was not allowed to dance and crying behind the stage. Djuna wondering what happened and the girl then explaining that Lofombo was mad that she slept with a businessmen and saying that it was a disgrace to the band, him then immediately suspending her. Djuna disagreed with it, because in his opinion the life outside music doesn't matter to professional life (I believe that it was during their trip to Moanda)
Another example about both guys not having the same vision is when they were in Moanda and that they had huge succes over there, which made businessmen/donor Amisi invite them to negotiate about a concert in Matadi at the Lumumba-stadium. Lofombo saying to Djuna that they must come with a low proposal, since that Amisi supported them financially after Pepe Kalle's death and also being one that was close to Pepe Kalle. But Djuna was against because in his opinion music is about business. After talking with each other separately, they returned back to Amisi and instead of taking the word, Djuna said that he would give the word to Lofombo, so that he could say about what they agreed about each. Lofombo felt it as a trap, so that Amisi would see him a bad person in the case that he would not agree and decided just to come with the amount he wanted. This angered Djuna and when coming back to Kinshasa he decided to leave Delta Force with a minority of musicians following him to form Delta Force (aile djuna) which later became Big One. According Lofombo, during the same trip Djuna was angry because he went with the musicians to Moanda on his own and at that time the road from Boma to Moanda wasn't asphalted. When you would come out of the bus, car or jeep, you would always have an amount of sand on your face and clothes. Lofombo explained that he didn't come because Ndiaye wanting him to stay in Kinshasa to help Blaise Bula out with the recordings of Ponderation 8 and managed to get a jet for him to arrive in Moanda before the concert. When Lofombo arrived in Moanda with a jet, Djuna felt that he (Lofombo) wanted to prove him a point about who being the real leader of Delta Force, while it wasn't his intention.
It's crazy that Lofombo and Djuna made interviews for more than 20 years to explain what went wrong and blaming each other. But none of the guys (Strelly Mikobi, John Scott, Ile de Cambodge, Prince Bella, Djino Liaki,..) ever said who was and what exactly went wrong
