I’m starting to notice more and more while listening to most of the albums from the 90’s-2000’s that almost half of (if not more) the powerful donors and inside people from that era have passed away now. In almost all cases at relatively young ages versus the norm or tragically. Is it because of us Africans being predisposed of health problems or are there higher powers at play here?
I try not to buy into the kindoki talk, but the trend is pretty alarming. I don’t see this happening in other genres as much
I get surprised when I see interviews pop up on YouTube of donors from that era that are still alive explaining what really went on behind the scenes. A lot of behind the scenes info from then is lost
Bro, 90s until now almost 2025 is almost a 40 year period. Usually in Africa even if you are from a well of family you don't get big and famous until your thirties and to amass a fortune like Donors with legit or non legit business are you won't do it until your 40s so let's say the average donors is 40 and give donations to make albums next year he will be 75 and you hardly unfortunately see peoole who are based in Congo regardless of wealth live that long and given how the economical landscape of Western Congo got even worse I really doubt here is gonna be a wave of new donors hitting the market soon.
Like Robinji said in an interview where he was finally talking normally and not be Fally's sidekick, he said that it is hard for him and other Congolese musician to perform in Congo, because most clubs don't have the money or paying clients to pay musicians, most of Congolese artists tour outside cause of the Branding of Congolese music, but if you notice guys like Beckham, Deplick, But Na Fillet and other guys who still don't have that international African fanbase, really struggle to reach the level a Werra, a Koffi, a JB or even a Ferre or Fally has, because slowly Congolese Ndombolo/Rhumba music is dying and there is just one or two big act bringing the genre forward and the rest are fighting for crumbs.
