For the first time ever joss went quite detailled about the circumstances of him leaving quartier latin, and he says it started over koffi having been reported about him dating cindy and koffi believed it and even uncle rece olomide called him to ask him why he is "eating" his yaya's "food" as to say why he is dating cindy while koffi is dating her, when at that moment it was not even a rumour there was not even glimpse of it possibly happening, and he says that rumour even threatening his own relationship  with his wife lolo milolo who was then a deputy aside of her music journalist role
and then koffi confronted him about it,and he was confused, because all the relationship he had with cindy was that they were from tshangu and they were the two chefs of the group so they had to collaborate
felly tyson then told him it was over for him as soon as koffi himself got involved because he does not play with women issues, but he was not taking felly's words seriously because he thought felly was being bitter because he could have got the chef role back when fally left but instead it went to him
then he started realising changes more and more, starting from one moment where koffi came and said 'you know cindy likes you too much she wants to sing in your spot next to me"',it was him and jitrois on the much targeted left and right of koffi and cindy was on the side or popping up on koffi's central mic and in another concert it stayed like that automatically and it continued until it reached a level where he was singing until koffi stepped on stage and he'd only ever touch stage if koffi himself called him( the type of punishment koffi did to jordan or jb to djino) and his situation also affected gabbana and gesac who were more and more sidelined and threatened and babia was teasing him that what he is just starting to feel what koffi's anger is like there is more to come but he was loving koffi too much that he thought things would come back to normal
then 23rd anniversary of quartier latin arrived, everybody were assigned a room at hotel eru where they did the preparation except him, there was a reunion organized and tyson knowing the system very well clearly told him before it even started that this would be a reunion about him
he had done an interview with papy mboma where he said "i have leadership in me,i was a born leader i might exploit it one day but at the moment i am focused on doing my work well with quartier latin" and it got koffi very mad and koffi confronted directly in front of the band "some people are here they say they are leaders,i dare them to do albums that we'll buy"and he started confronting people one by one and there he demoted joss of chef d'orchestre role and gave it to suzuki
the scene which lead to him leaving was that two bassists richard and another(should be chado since its both who played ) were fighting about their playing turn and one injured the other with a punch and his mouth was bleeding, but koffi chose to leave with cindy without even looking at what happened and joss used that situation to vent all the frustration he was keeping inside for months chokoro and tyson tried to calm him down but they failed he says thats most angry he ever has been
there he left and he called late dakumuda to complain about the situation and it ended up being dakumuda wanting him to join laviniora, and he called jb to join bcbg but jb refused to accept him in order to not hurt koffi or wazekwa
i believe these two last incidents is what completely buried the quartier latin we know,as joss talking innocently about possible future ambitions hit on koffi's traumatism over losing the golden generation in almost one shot for solo ambitions(after years already of tension)
earlier on he talked about how he joined quartier latin in the first place and it was weird, out of nowhere koffi called him to come in studio and until today he does not understand what exactly happened to make him completely change his direction while he was going to que demande le peuple studio session he believes there was something spiritual behind it,and he also revealed that bercy and co should also have joined quartier latin just after them but he did all he could to block the move via criss ibanga who was one of the people involved in the process and personally called musicians of cultura to make them change mind about coming, because the plan was to completely finish cultura
from that moment koffi went hardcore on the cindy or nothing route  knowing she had far less chance to betray him like men

In the long version he revealed that before he left they almost created a band of 4 leaders him tyson jitrois and binda bass, but quickly some backtracked and the idea collapsed(i am sureee that its staffs saying bongo nani akozala leader? eh yo obeta na mouvement ya joss? ehh yo jitrois azala leader na yo?)
but tyson asso and a couple more played on his first album(which certainly contributed to their fallout with koffi)

So sad how things ended for him in Quartier Latin. Maybe that Cindy was liking him and mentioning his name while sleeping, which made Koffi take those conclusions. I don’t in which interview it was from 2010. But, I believe that it was his first interview after leaving and there he claimed that Koffi didn’t like him anymore because Aliya was liking him. So now I don’t if he telling the truth. For example, years ago he did an interview with Ado Yuhe where he explained how he joined Quartier Latin. But here he gave a total different version and claiming that it was about witchcraft. In the interview he did with I think with Mbuta Likasu, he said that Wazekwa always say that it’s because of witchcraft that he joined Quartier Latin and that it’s not true. But here with Deblaison he’s alluding that it was because of witchcraft

did he mention aliya? because the interview i think about with dieudonne yangumba he was saying mere but hinting about cindy
i think he's saying it differently about his move to latino now to please wazekwa, joss has a big big big level of love for wazekwa i heard from people close to him that he used to cry when people went back home and the house became a bit silent in his first 3 months

Joss’s future in Quartier Latin was promising in the beginning, if Cindy wasn’t there he could’ve done big things in the group. I wish they released a group album so we could’ve seen how talented that group was but instead they were in the shadow of Cindy. It was embarrassing to see experienced guys like Joss, Jitrois, Babia, Asso, Suzuki, Gabbana turn into background singers and sitting on chairs whilst Cindy and Koffi were singing.

For me the witchcraft story doesn’t make sense because if he joined through witchcraft he could’ve easily left early on and went back to Wazekwa

i watched rewatched as it popped up several times on  facebook tiktok and co and it brought back memories and i figured out this happened when i was living with ya felly at least my first 3 month stint with him before i had to come to europe for something quick then go back longer and i think its copium from him,as he showed again decades later with ceden play and co he gets nervous when most of the group is unhappy and vocal about it and does the opposite of what he should have done he was so used to them fearing him because of that mean authorative father image he built when they did 2 years living together to build chemistry that it was unusual and he panicked
so i think in order not to see that he was losing control because he could not cope with most of the major musicians unhappy he used the fact he had a very close bond especially with joss to say that no way it could have happened "naturally" lol i wish i was in a better state at that moment i would have confronted him hard
maybe they should have gone ahead with their group of 4 which was almost created felly and binda would have brought support from those lemba donors who were on a high in that period but then as i said surely people who ruin the group quick with leadership gossip
koffi really messed up,instead of cherishing what could have made the strong group dynamic exist longer in our groups he feared while imagine he got that group to record for example in south africa or states since he was fearing europe, with that motivation of studio abroad it could have produced something
tonight i watched a concert of them at bibi play in 2008 for BEK presentation i think, and most of the concert was flat with the guys almost sent to shadows already and about 1minute30 of promising sebene by poupa mystic, the level of animation he was tolerating from gesac in that concert showed his head was not anymore on the normal quartier latin,no way on earth gesac would have stood a chance with "mbuta maviokele elongi ya ba chinois" or something like that,he'd get a "putain de merde ca c'est quoi ca changer nanu eloko" :D :D :D :D

I don't remember because it's already 15/14 years ago that I saw that interview. It possible that he said mere, but it's a long time ago. Yeah, I believe that the interview was with Dieudonné Yangumba. They made it next to a swimmign pool. I don't know if the interview is still on youtube

Am I the only that found Koffi’s concerts after releasing BEK so boring. There was no energy and and the concerts were too repetitive just the same songs from BEK and the occasional Zero Faute and Tsiane but that’s it.

yeah exactly my point, for like 5 minutes max either of poupa tyson or mbetenge would try something which will be ruined by the worst ever set of starting quartier latin atalakus mbasu gesac and co  at that point and quickly koffi would cut and switch to a rumba while the group had a lot of "attaquants" still, good looking and dancing, montana, joss, gabbana, jitrois, guelor, scottie pippen and co what a waste

QL concerts from that era were very dismal - no chemistry whatsoever with the drama behind the scene. When he started doing regular bar concerts at Chez Bibi (or whatever that bar was called) I thought his career was finished. Even before the abuse allegations.

I mean how to you very quickly go from having the strongest/most skilled band line up in the Loi-Attenta-Bercy-Monde Arabe era to an uncoordinated band of musicians without direction, all while being seduced by a then junior employee to the point of marriage.

But even to this day, he’s still hurt by the 05-06’s mass departures and won’t ever trust having an all male lead and managed QL again where singers will be consistently promoted
