Those two musicians interviewed are archange who used to interpret papa's parts when he took a break or was not on stage yet and wadiré mfumu who used to live with him years before becoming officially his musician
archange says when they arrived in ivory coast on wednesday they had they had a private VIP concert and all went well
the day of concert,papa wemba called the chef d'orchestre tosha bass in his locker room to pick the songs they would sing then papa wemba sent his manager to call him archange and papa asked if he was informed of the songs and was also drinking coffee and looking very in form,archange wonders if papa had something special to say to him becauuse papa changed his talk straight when other people arrived and when they started the show all was very well papa was in forme and full of energy and until today he does not understand what happened,and the sad moment we all know happened when papa was doing animation of the song "est ce que" and papa was taken to hospital and concert was stopped and it was very tough,especially as they had another concert planned in another ivorian city the day after and nothing showed this could have happened
when they went back to hotel they were argueing about what they just saw and tosha bass was called to be informed of papa's death,they were having breakfast,they stopped all of sudden and tosha took them all to go and speak but it was hard for him and he picked a guy who was supposedly stronger than the rest to tell him and manage that they slowly announce it to the rest but the guy started crying and they understood
papa wemba went several times to do check-upsand he was told he could start performing and he would have listened if doctor told him no because papa was a guy who was accepting advice and if he accepted to participate its because he felt he was ready and he was participating fully in rehearsals
he goes on to talk about the polemic over papa's micro and he does not believe papa was poisoned because himself archange did soundcheck in papa's position on that microphone before the show and all the leaders of the group which performed there used that microphone and the guy who came to put back the microphone just made sure to create space
he thanks ivorian authorities for their support(i am hearing that each of the 22 viva members there was given 7500 dollars to support them)
talking about the last song where papa seemingly was losing his voice,he says they did not think it would lead to such a serious thing,they thought it was just one of those moments where voice is having a bit of cracks because sometimes it takes a couple of songs for singers to hit their best level of performance
papa died of cardiac arrest and archange does not want to accuse emergency guys for not reacting quicker because it was huge moment of shock everybody panicked and he believes God had chosen papa's moment no matter what
wadire says papa was in form they had two weeks of rehearsal and before concert papa was joking with them and the new dancers who had never travelled with the group,when they started 'est ce que",him as a guy who has been living with papa for 17 years noticed papa's voice sounded strange and started to forger lyrics and papa turned around to drink a bit of water and when he came back he collapsed and papa always predicted he'd prefer to die on stage rather than stuck in hospital he also insists the guy who took the microphone just did his job
what was planned was that papa would sing four songs then take a break while archange takes his role in sai sai,sapologie feat ivorian rapper nash then come back to end the show with blessure the song he did in memory of king kester
somehow papa fulfilled his desire and he can be proud where he is because he trained them very well
he talks about bendoson and miyake's returns and says they are welcome but not as guys who are coming back to give them orders,papa left behind a very united group and if bendoson and miyake want to remain with them they need to avoid treating them as if they have become their employees now that papa is gone but he has a lot of respect for what they have done in the group in the past
Talking about life after papa wemba,he says ivorian people insisted they should make sure viva continues to exist and they will fully support them for tours or recording albums they even received calls from president of ivory coast and wadire hopes in kin papa will be also given such honour because when papa died,every activity stopped in ivory coast until they returned to kinshasa,nobody worked as they were mourning papa wemba and it was heartbreaking for them to accept seeing papa's body going back to kin because papa was very loved in ivory coast
it was tough for them to go on stage on that tribute concert but they were told to give their best and do it for papa,nobody believe they could perform with such a shock,and the ivorian government has even decided to give them ivorian nationality so they have given some papers to authorities for that
