Ferre Gola dropped his 4th album two weeks ago, album produced by no other than himself via his Ferre Gola TV production. The album is a typical Ferre album with full of rumbas mostly about love and deception, as well paying tribute to his idols by trying to sing like them. Here's track by track breakdown of QQJD(Qu'est ce que j'avais dit)


#QQJD, VOL 1(RED)

1. KIPELEKESE ft.Tutu Callugi: Instrumental wise, this is a carbon copy of Tucheze and similar approach. Ferre did a good job on this song animating simple and some old crie to make the song appealing internationally.Tutu Callugi intervention its something new and did a great job with the little space he was given, which i expected as Ferre didn't want people to say that he did a featuring on a album even though he vow never to...i like the end part where Tutu goes, "lelo to zui diamant te, toko loba mbisi..hein hein"...I predict a HIT song.

2. MEA CULPA: This is my song, the melody and the chorus its amazing and the singing wow. Ferre sang in Papa Wemba type of voice and sang a part from one of Wemba classic song...This guy can kill you with "nuance" and he didn't disappoint on this song. another HIT song i predict

3. QQJD(generique): I was expecting another Boite noire type generique which i loved but i was disappointed. This generique lacks authority, it sounds like a 2nd generique or 3rd..i feel sorry for the animators on this album, they didn't get the chance to fully express themself like Kunzardo did in Boite Noire. The "ya Jean" crie sounded way better in concerts but again it was ruin by the useless instrumental that lacked direction. To make things worse, Kipelekese is being promoted like the theme song of the album. Forgettable generique

4. JUGEMENT: nothing to say, we all know how successful this song has been. a HIT

5. Kinshasa: This song is about womens who like to go out with married man...Ferre definitely needs a new back line of instrumentalist, you can't keep using the same melodies..at times throughout this album i thought i was listening to a continuation song from Boite noire. There's a vocal from Chico and conversation type sequence featuring Charly solo and some female and a bit of Muana Congo(his only contribution on the album).   

6. Fautif (Marchouse's song): I like this song, nice and smooth flowing...nice vocals from a guy i cant remember his name and the female singer and Chico. a HIT

7. Tailleur: lol the chorus of this song its funny...i dont know sang in the beginning of the song but i like it...vocals from Vibration and Rice. I predict a HIT cause of the chorus lol

8. Ekoti ya Nzube ft. Leticia: I find this song boring and i don't think they put any effort. I think they tried to copy that Papa Wemba ft Nathalie Makoma song but didn't do it for me

9. MANNIX: no comment, lovely song. a HIT

10. ELANGA: I love this song, the melody and the way he tried to sing like Papa wemba was just amazing. This is definitely something new i never heard from him and the saxophone solo at the end sounds familiar. a HIT

11. TITANIC: The melody sounds like a Fally type of song but other than that this is a great song and sang in a high note....nice vocals from Echappe and Rice again killing it with catchy vocals on this album. a HIT



#QQJD, VOL 2(BLUE)

1. TSHILUBA(Illunga's song): oh man i hope they promote this song hard. Illunga surprised me on this tshiluba song, especially the second part of the song, just wow...on repeat everyday. Whoever played the lead on this song knows his shit, that solo guitar wow. a HIT

2. Match d'amour: The only good thing about this song its the chorus...a bit too flat.

3. Court Circuit: This song didn't do anything for me

4. ROSSIGNOL: When Ferre wants to sing he will sing his heart out and this song doesn't disappoint...the melody alone gives it that emotion and the vocal by Guy Gola wow, he has come far...one of the best vocal on the album. a HIT

5. Apprivoise (Nicholas's song) ft Chikito: This is the only song with a vocal from Jenny Atula...lovely song. a HIT

6.MONOTONIE: This is my song, start from finish...classic. "nga moko mokolo bord ehh",catchy chorus...lovely vocal from Djanny Pacha. a HIT

7. Inondation (Guy Gola's song): This song its nothing special and sounds like a Boite Noire recycled song.

8. Moribond: This song's melody sounds like a song from Qui est derriere toi album...but a nice vocal from Mineure, "ba petite bazo teka" lol and again Rice killing it.

9. Ma meilleure Chemise: sounds like another recycled song from past album.

10. Jack Pimba: I just like the vocals from this song...Tshelele got a vocal and Fils, with some vocal from Chikito.

11. Pasi: Not bad...Chico deep voice can be heard on the chorus...nice vocal from Mathy Degol and Vibration.



QQJD, VOL 3(Yellow)

1. OKALIKOTA (Rite Nzele's generique): Something different Ferre tried on this album...i like this style of songs that turns into seben...this is the authority the first generique lacked especially solo wise and other instrumentals. a HIT

2. Poisson d'avril: The hell was this song about and i don't know who convinced him to release it first as the album promotional song...Madness, boring.

3. WUMELA: This Tabu Fatu woman always seems to land good songs from musicians and this one is another hit. This song has that Koffi style and sound. the solo guitar at the end adds the cherry on the top...Rice killing it again on this song....nice simple chorus to go with this lovely rumba. a HIT

4. Realite: If you close your eyes you would think "Poisson d'avril" is still playing. This song shouldnt of been included on the album.

5. INTERNATIONAL: I like this rumba, just flows right with the hip with a lady on the dance floor...I dont know who did that vocal near the end but his good. a HIT.

6. Avenir: Nice vocal from Rize ya Gola, surprisingly got less vocals on this album than expected, no wonder why he left...the guy who's trying to sound like Nicodem should just stop it.

7. MOBOBE (Echappe's song): Nice rumba from Echappe, this guy can really sing but i feel he was a bit let down on the melody department but other than that this is tolerable song. a HIT

8. Patience: Forgettable song, another vocal from Chico but somehow he will complain and another vocal from Balotelli and Echappe.

9. Moteki Mbala: Another song that sounds like a continuation of a song on the album. not worth it

10.Pito Lukaya: worthless song

11. Nickson Lleya: started well but than back to the flat rhythm.


I really expectted more from this album, it has some out standing songs like MEA CULPA and JUGEMENT but not the best album from Ferre. How can you take 5 year to produce such monotony. Ferre next album needs to be a mix of different music style...too much rumba its killing him, it gets boring. Fally and Werra know this, thats why they are making an effort trying new things, which is something Ferre needs to do to stay relevant.

Nice review JV, the album was better then Boite Noire even though there was some songs that sounded like it was kept over from Boite Noire. I really wish there was more sebene in the album. Ferre needs to stop saying he will never do a featuring because he has done it in every album.

(Red Volume)
 1. Kipelekese is a whatever song, I do wish Tutu was used in actual sebene because his voice and animation in this song had me wanting more.

2. Mea Culpa hasn't gotten my attention like it has to other people.

3. QQJD is a nice decent generiques expected better since they were playing a lot of good sebene in the lead up to the album.

5. Kinshasa is a really good song with a message. Nice to have a song about something other then signing about donor x or a love song.

6. Fautif is alright and nice vocals from Ballotelli, Rina (if she is the one singing the vocal) and Designer. Expected more from Marchouse because of his experience and his smack talking.

7. Taileur is a good song, the beginning is sung by Hugor (he danced alongside Evariste in the Boite Noire video) I like chrous "Yo tailleur ya mwasi pantalon ya mobali na ngai o tongi o tie tirette te quelle intention ya mabe". Vibration has a funny vocal.

8.Ekoti ya Nzube is boring to me even with the nice chrous and singing by both Ferre and Leti.

10.Elanga sounds like a Koffi song.

11. This song is beautiful, very strong singing from Ferre and Echappe.

(Blue Volume)

1. I really Tshiluba gets promoted this is a fun song, I like Ferre's accent and the shootout to JB.

2. Besides the chorus there is nothing else in Match d'amour.

3. Guy sung like Koffi when he said "jeu ya cinema" Degaulle sang too hard just to singing names instaed of actual lyrics.

4. Like Titanic Ferre sang hard in Rossignol, La Mineur should've been in this song but for some reason he didn't make the final version. Guy is really versatile.

5. Apprivoise is a good song from drummer Nicolas, I like Rhize's sensual vocal and Hugor's vocal even though he's never been to Europe himself lol. Mao sounds better when singing calmly.

6. Ba noko ba lula, ba yaya ba lula, ba voison ba lula nga moko mokolo bord and Djanny's Do do do mama na dodo. Good stuff.

7. Inondation is a nice song but I feel like it's a Ferre song but he gave it to the ounger Gola to sing. Guy said he had three other songs (a sebene song, a french duet with Ferre, and one where he sang some in English and the rhumba below  @18:08

8. Moribond is a song that I play everyday, I like the part where Ferre said if you want to know how much I like you open me up with a knife and see inside my heart. What does La Minuer mean when he says "bazo teka?

9. Ma meilleure Chemise- Biva ray might as well join Ferre's group.

10. Jack Pimba- Just heard about the Tshele dude yesterday in Djanny's interview I think he's a faux chanteur along with Fils.

(Gold Volume)

1. Okalikota is a fire.

2. April Fools joke, Franck Stemay said songs from donor X are kind of ruining the industry and this is an example.

3. Ahhh Wumela , Tabou Fatu always gets the best songs for some reason from singers and the vocal from Rice ahhhhh elengi. I don't don't know wheter this is sad or happy song because of the melody.

5. JV, Hugor again with the vocal in the end.

6. I'm liking Avenir more and more, Rhize's vocal should've been longer. Designer didn't sing in this song it was Il Riche at the end.

7. Echappe did really good with Mobobe.

8. Patience- Besides Chico's and Echappe's vocals nothing to talk about.

9. Moteki Mbala should've been a sebene song.

10. Pito Lukaya nice chrous.

This was an overall good album, Ferre sang his best since QEDT, I'm still waiting for a BIG album like Kipuisa or Effrakata from him and Fally. I like how let his singer do the chrous it sounds better, I didn't like how he mentioned some singers name but not others. Ferre gives his singers just enough space as to where they sing lyrics and get their mabanga in, no one wants to hear donor w, x, y, z instead of lyrics.
 

Tutu Callugi should of been used more, missed opportunity for sure. That Fils is a bad singer, I expected more vocals from Mao....."ba petite bazo teka" was a line from a comedian called Modero...it was a joke about girls selling pu**y.

I like the fact on this album he let his musician sing in the chorus, unlike other times where session musician and himself dominate the chorus. He also gave his musician a lot of space for vocals in almost every song...I still don't understand when people here say he doesn't let his musician sing. He's the only 5em generation leader who lets his musician shine on his album and gives them vocals space. Overall I just expected much more, especially the generique.

Haha ba teka ba teka niawu, just got by the censorship.

QQJD best album from ferre according to MY opinion. No song from this album is surplus. Good album that is all I can say.

QQJD is one of the best albums we had this year, ofcz the whole album can't be perfect but in general it has gave 2017 a special meaning..and I would like to thank guys who gave their analysis on this album, I am sure Ferre is trying day by day to improve his music style and that won't be a days job..in closing I would say Rice Matadien sang well for me, his vocals are just brilliant, Guy Gola, Chico, Vibration, Rhize gave their best. But Hugor on Tielleir sang well for me..Mmmmmm...

Awesome review! I've been listening to all 3 CDs in bits and pieces.  So far Vol. 3 is my favorite.  To this day I still don't understand why these guys are coming out with 2 and 3 CD projects.  There are a lot of songs that could've been left off, but I digress.  I heard a lot of OK Jazz references in this album too.  One song "borrows" the solo line from Massu and on another song, Nickson Lleya, he "uses" the melody from Papa Noel's Kizungu Zungu.  Overall I give it a 7.5/10.  Lots of beautiful chorus lines, aside from the instrumentation, that's equally important for a successful hit.  He's grown so much since his debut Sens Interdit and he keeps getting better. He's definitely on the right path.

Monotonie doesn't sound nothing like Moribond...like I said, I'm disappointed with the instrumentalists for not working hard enough to produce unique melodies to avoid monotony like the title of the song...instead they just reused old melodies from past album and slightly modified it but if you have ears like mine you would still know...for example Moribond is a carbon copy of "Eclipse" from Ferre's own album qui est derriere toi.

the tshiluba song was played by davido on lead,before ferre he was with tshala muana a bit so he surely mastered mutuashi
