I think it's because many rhythms which Alba played are coming from those old traditiona Bakongo-songs "konono". Calugi was shouting many times in concerts "Alba beta Konono dit, ah yaya". I forgot the name of that traditional song which is in Internet and Alain Kounkou's song.
Many sebenes (rhythm & lead) from Kibuisa Mpimpa, Solola Bien, Feux de l'Amour, Titanic & TH are old rhythm from traditional songs coming from Kwango/Kwilu (ex' Bandundu) and Kongo Central. The intro of Augustine (which is a typical Mbala/Yaka rhythm), the intro of JB's zenith (which Minzoto Wella Wella was playing often), The intro of Ndombolo (which is comes from a Bayombe song), the intro of Werra's Bercy, etc. Burkina Faso was the master of it. That's why Werrason gave him the nickname ""Mbokaliya".
