She used to be Papa Wemba's "2eme bureau". It was a big war against her and Rose Luzolo (aka Amazone). She was one of co-founders of Viva La Musica and who forced Papa Wemba to start his own band. She was also the one who gave Papa Wemba the idea to create Village Molokai after having visited Lagos with Tabu Ley for the Festac-festival where she discovered the Kalakuta-republic of Fela Kuti. Then she went to settle herself in Brussels doing some business on the dark market (selling drugs, prostitution, etc.). Then in 1993 she made a nightclub in Brussels called "La Reference", which then the most famous nightclub of the Congolese diaspora. Papa Wemba & Sam Mangwana sung about her nightclub in the Foridoles-album.
Tutu Calugi, Mboshi Lipassa and Alpacino animated about that restaurant back in 1996-97 in their bands. "Ku mbanza ya moyo na la reference ooh. Tomela mua kopo. Ayaya ye sekele aah eeh".
Then when the split came she became a pro-jb fan. On Zenith '99 she gave JB Mpiana a lion and let him put his leg on lion with Gentamicine throwing the lion in the public with the fans destroying it. That scene made the Maison Mere-camp furious and Werrason forbid his fans and staff to go to La Reference. From 2002 their relation became so/so because their were rumors of Wemba wanting to send Sharufa to JB to do some black magic or something like that.
Since 2003 she decided to become a sister in christ and her closing her nightclub La Reference. Then in 2005 she married pastor Jean-Baptist Bongo which made Wemba apparently very furious. With people seeing the song Ye Te Oh as a diss towards her.
