The song was orignally written by Kila Mbongo's brother Malice Maria (real name Bienvenu Manziku) who died in the civil war of Congo Brazzaville in 1997, he was a reserve-member in Extra Musica and used to sing this song in his streetband with Papy Jah before joining Extra Musica. Kila Mbongo decided to released this song in the Etat Major-album as a tribute to him. They paid to tribute to him and Fede (Frederic Kanofa) who was also a reserve-member on the back-cover of the Ouragan-album who was released in 1997.






Laissez Passer from the Shalai-album released in 1999. Here they are singing that in the world it itsn't very hard to succeed in life. Because you have just to be very smart and having patience in work. Others gave themselves in drinking to much alcohol with in the future their changes being finished and them then looking for witches (scapegoats) to say that they are reasons of their failure. But those who succeed in life with hard work and those who have alot of intelligence in their head and cry often for God have to get blessings. To succeed is not a little game if you respect the rules, because a man doesn't get pregnant since that work is a permit for him (as compensation).

The song was orginally written by Papy Bastin who used to sing it in his band Look Sampa along with the songs Gambala and Fondation Muller who would be sung in Extra Musica but credited to other artists.


I noticed that Abilissi didn't had vocals on the two songs who were released on Kila Mbongo's name. He only sung in the chorus. Were they in conflict or what ?

Those songs were one of the reasons that I used to like Extra Musica so much because they were singing about other subjects then love. Songs like La Pluie, Generation Mechante, Etape, Gambala, Zangul Zangul, Fondation Muller, Redoutable, Ndzima, Racines, Losambo and Hommage.

I'm surprised it doesn't get tiresome for our musicans to always write love songs. Why are our musicans so afraid to sing about something different for a change?

I believe Kila Mbongo brought great honor to his brother with their version of Patience from Etat Major; the message is the medicine in candy.

I remember hearing about Frederic Kanofa, but was he a reserve member that sang or played an instrument? And what caused him to pass away suddenly? He seemed in good health during their first tour in Europe.

I remember hearing that Papy Bastin and Papy Jah were around at the time of the first split and were left behind during the recording session of Etat Major. Is this really true?

As much as I respect Durell Loemba, it was a huge mistake for him to abandon his role as rhythm guitarist in Extra Musica to follow Quentin for Extra Musica International as a soloist. That's like if Kusungila of Wenge Musica tried to step out of his main role and stand toe to toe against Japonais as the best lead guitarist of the two Wenge bands.

Frederic Kanofa was a singer. Uhmm he didn't participate to the first tour of Extra Musica in Europe, he died like Felice Maria in the civil war of Congo Brazzaville in 1997 hence why they paid tribute on him on the backcover of Ouragan who was also released in 1997 and the song Hommage of the same album. Alot of people died in that civil-war.



Yes, Papy Bastin and Papy Jah joined Extra Musica before the split. They were recruited by Quetin Moyascko. Quetin asked them to follow him in Extra Musica International but they prefered to stay in Extra Musica Zangul since that they were going to Europe for Etat Major, but they were left behind in Brazzaville.

I don't see it as a much mistake of Durrel Loemba to leave Extra Musica, altough I prefer him as a rhythm-player. Because when he left we all discovered his talent as lead guitarist in the Super Helico-album (1999) and that album made step Roga Roga his level as solist in the Shalai-album and later the Trop c'est Trop-album (2001). Later in 2000, Durrel Loemba created Z1 International with Regis Touba and it made us discover talents like Rav4 and Levyson who both would later join Extra Musica Zangul. His name wouldn't have become bigger if he left Extra Musica. He then be on the same level like Espe Bass and Ramatoulaye with Roga Roga dominating them and those young musicians disrespecting them. But the creation of Extra Musica International made rivalery starting between Roga Roga and Durrel Loemba about who being the best solist. The problem with Durrel Loemba is that he doesn't get alot of support, because of him being from the south. It would have been very different if he was from the north and the same tribe like Doudou Copa and Roga Roga.





Also if Durrel Loemba didn't leave then we would maybe never discover the talents of Sonor Digital as rhythm-player who used then only play bass as reserve of Espe Bass and dance as a dancer in concerts.


Patient Kusangila was never a solist. He was a bassist in Attraction Babylone where he played with Babia Ndonga, Suzuki Luzubu and other talented artists. Then he joined Wenge 4x4 in 1990, but there were already 3 bassplayers so became a rhythm-player. When the split came he switched back to his role as bassplayer, but he became sick which made him stay in Europe being abandoned by JB Mpiana, Blaise and co. Then he rejoined at Zenith as bass-player again, but he didn't felt comfortable in the band so he joined Wenge Maison Mere where they needed a rhythm-player.

No, Arnold Laguna played lead on Merci. Merci was recorded after the split with Durrel, Regis Touba and Pinochet Thierry.

So this collaborates with what Durell Loemba said about how Extra Musica was formed. So Roga Roga claims that he created Extra Musica simply because his proposed name was the one that became accepted? Lol
