Some people say Wenge El Paris, because the way Wenge Musica 4x4 split when El Paris was on his best, being also the only band who was performing at stadiums of Kinshasa at that time, without touring in Europe.

Other says Wenge 4x4, because of the way JB Mpiana & Werrason made their name bigger during their solo career. But does that count?

i'd say 4X4 won but also using some of the techniques which exists for some artists today "fina bango po biso kaka tobima danger",it has not always been a battle in same conditions
thinking about it except ekokota the other person i would really love ado to interview is marie paul

Ado will waste the whole interview asking about the Pentagone until the 1997 split, despite the fact that El Paris and 4×4 rivalry entertained people for almost a decade.

I'll just put this out there. El Paris won the battle, but 4x4 won the war in spirit since JB and Werra, especially the latter, ultimately overshadowed Marie Paul.

4X4 won, Depitcho even said the 4X4 split is one of the things that killed EL Paris.

That’s not 100% true, because after the split they became more stronger and popular. Marie Paul performed some days after the split at Palais du Peuple, which showed that he was at that time the most popular artist in Kinshasa in term of fans and a few weeks later at Stade 20 Mai, since that people couldn’t enter at Palais du Peuple which was overcrowded (the same day he went to visit Maison Mere who had his first concert at Bar vis a vis, bringing alot fans with him). Maison Mere was at time weak and BCBG spent the most time of 1998 abroad. They released the Couvre-Feu album which was a huge succes in Kinshasa making Wenge El Paris being voted as best band for second year in a row, Manda Chante best singer and Marie Paul best star, they went to Malawi & Tanzania. Their succes went down when the JB vs Werra became strong after the release of Intervention Rapide & Titanic, Manda Chante then not long after it leaving the band and Wenge El Paris losing alot of fans to Maison Mere, after Marie Paul’s stragetic mistake.

El Paris won since it outlasted Wenge Musica 4 x 4 BCBG.

JB and Werra success is another story. Eh, El Paris helped Werra get back on his feet.

Do you think that JB Mpiana & Werrason domination in the Congolese music-scene would have been different, if Wenge El Paris managed to go to Europe before Wenge Maison Mere ? Because Werra's Stade des Martyrs of 1999 before Solola Bien wasn't 100% full, which was also due to Marie Paul starting to forbid his fans to support Maison Mere.

It's a possibility. People tend to forget that even 2 years deep into the JB/Werra feud, Marie Paul and El Paris were still popular with the youth at Kin.

But your remark is interesting. Werra conquered Europe during that Intervention Rapide Tour. Things would've been different if MP and Wenge El Paris got there before WMMM. But since Werra got there first, he took the fandom.

In Kin, El Paris remained popular until the year 2000. I remember in that concert of Stade Martyrs you're talking about, El Paris fans threw rocks at Werra near the Stadium. LOL. Bandimi, as they used to call them, showed that Marie Paul still had a huge following that could still bully Werra in Kin. El Paris lost its momentum in KIN because it took too long for them to release an album. People were really waiting for that album. I mean really. But the interest fizzled out progressively since BCBG and WMMM were flooding the market in the meantime.

So to go back to your original question, if Marie Paul and El Paris went to Europe before or just after Werra put out an album before Solola Bien, they could've either eclipsed WMMM or kept themselves in the race and we would've seen a triangle WMMM vs BCBG vs El Paris.

Very interesting take on all this my friend, I think you’re right.

I remember that when Maison Mere really became the majorite pluriel after releasing Solola Bien, they went to perform at Stade des Martyrs (to correct JB's plein of Stade des Martyrs) and Wenge El Paris then performing the same day at YMCA in Matonge which is not really far. Ba ndimi then also threw with rocks at the musicians of Wenge Maison Mere & Werrason and Wenge El Paris won the fara-fara. El Paris then came with the term KO-Debout (bazwa KO-Debout), for the way Werra lost that fara-fara. It inspired Marie Paul to give his album the name KO Debout. Them also mocking the way Werra came in at Stade des Martyrs with those karate-clothes (those clothes he made the Solola Bien-videoclip) while he's the king of the forest saying "makaku akomi maitre ya karateka" (they animated it in Barredefer Kiangana of the KO Debout-album). But Werrason had already a big part of the press in the pocket and since that people focused more on the JB vs Werra-rivalery and if he would correct JB's plein, Werra's concert at Stade des Martyrs got hyped more (being also 100% plein).

Despite that Werrason ordered the whole band to not respond Wenge El Paris (sinon eko fula bango). They reacted a little bit with the animation "on ne cri pas la victoire avant la guerre" which was animated during Kibuisa Mpimpa-days as intro"ba oyo babetaki biso K.O., bango moko ba mibeti". Back at that time EL Paris was already finished and stuck in Europe.

I would say Wenge 4x4 however Wenge El Paris did give competition to Wenge 4x4. Marie Paul had a great team behind him. He had Depeticho and JDT with him as well as Manda Chante. Wenge 4x4 also had a great team with JB, Blaise Bula and Werrason on chorus. Their harmonies were very good together.

At the end of the day, Marie Paul made a strategic mistake by helping Werra. Manda Chante warned him about that move and how it could backfire. MP should've ignored Werra and left him for dead in the water or crush him. But instead of pointing his gun toward Wenge BCBG new formula, he chose to be an accessory in a future Werra VS JB feud, which left him no room to breathe.

Until today he regrets that move. That's why he's very mad at people from Bandundu.  ;D
