For ME Koffi is the greatest simply because he’s done it all and he’s had an active career for the past 40 years, and all the albums he released from Ngobila which came out in 1986 I believe all the way to BEK which came out in 2008 all of them are classics and none are bad albums, that’s 22 years of incredible albums. He also had fantastic QL lineups from the beginning 1990 to 2009 which is 19 years, he gave the best shows in Olympia, Zenith and Bercy, and also produced the most Generique of all time which is Loi.
We have to give the man credit because he’s just a pure musical genius, there will never be another Koffi.

Its true. Going from a songwriter who required vocal trainings and huge support from already established artists to one of the greats is a huge achievement.

My problem is that we can also pull up the files of Papa Wemba King Kester etc. But the only way id know who's on top is by checking to see what is it that Koffi's achieved that the others haven't. And that's how we'd know. I guess.

Koffi's catalogue is strong compared to other artists. He's done a lot in each decade.

Only Papa Wemba had a long solo catalogue to compete with Koffi. And Defao. But it's about impact and many other factors.

I just find it interesting.

My brother!!! You said it all, the guy with the most constant career, from 1990 to 2008, album after album Koffi & QL brought a different touch and excellent songs. Tabu Ley has a special voice, that Koffi dont have. Franco and Tabu Ley are very great musicians but their era is not comparable to that of Koffi, because in their time there were not as many "leader" musicians. Papa Wemba has a great career and very good albums but he has not had a series of high quality albums like Koffi has

Going through his discography, I fell in love with Bouro's composition on Droit De Veto, "Likombe". As much as Sens Inverse is such a popular tune, this song is actually so underatted! I actually prefer this over Sens Inverse!

The song didnt get promote because Bouro left, if he didnt I think the song would been huge.

You don't know what are saying, in the era of Franco and Tabu Ley you had more bandleaders and bands than in the time of Koffi. In the time that Koffi was on his prime, you had just a few bandleaders(le carre magique), while in the time of Franco and before you had alot bandleaders until he died. In that era even solo-artists and bands who only known in their area, had the possibilty to release discs, something that became very difficult in 90s.

They were performing it in every concert, but the problem is that in that era most VHS were 1h or 90 min, so they would cut most parts out. But in the VHS of their concert at La Madeleine, you could see Bouro Mpela singing it, but it isn't on YouTube.
