This is also a good album. But it was unlucky that it was released in the same period as Fula Ngenge and being stuck the original Viva La Musica-style without atalaku's while back then everybody was abandoning it.

It's only know that a realize that it was guitarist Timololo's solo album when reading the credit that all songs were written by him. But the album-cover makes it look that it was Viva La Musica's album. The album was produced by sapeur Modogo Gianfranco Ferre, but it caused immediately a problem between him and Papa Wemba. After that Papa Wemba left Peter Gabriel's label Real World, he signed with Japanese and they required him to not show his face on album-covers (A La Une and Bakala dia Kuba didn't had his face on the album) until the end of the contract, but Modogo didn't know it and made the mistake of putting Wemba's face on Mwana Matebu which made Papa Wemba mad.

Such a good album but man Fula Ngenge is a classic.

This is a great album. However it was also during the conflict between Papa Wemba, Reddy Amisi and Stino Mubi since they sang separately in these Timo Lolo songs. Reddy and Stino made big errors in letting animators in their albums which explained why Papa Wemba had a fallout with them afterwards.

But both guys sung together with Wemba on Abu Pia of Fula Ngenge and sung together on multiple concerts (Forest National, Elysee Montmarte, LSC, Zenith de Paris,..). Reddy Amisi also went to Kinshasa on his own to participate with Nouvelle Ecriture and Papa Wemba on a few concerts in Kinshasa after the release of Fula Ngenge.

Wake Up was a duo-album with Koffi Olomide, not a solo album of Papa Wemba nor a Viva La Musica-album. Fula Ngenge had only one atalaku the late Alpatshino. Alpatshino was a singer, but Papa Wemba wanted with Fula Ngenge having an album that would give the image of new millennium, incorporation different styles in his album (classic music, tradtional music, original rumba, the original viva-style, rap and ndombolo), so he ordered Alpatshino to adopt his role as atalaku-singer like he used to do in Ngadiadia's Chic Choc Loyenghe.

I was first also not understanding why he was blaming Reddy and Stino for using atalaku's, but himself doing the same thing in Fula Ngenge. But years later, I  think that I may understood what he meant by saying in the press-conference before Zenith "Alpatchino azo sala animaton, mais eza ndombolo te" and the interview Colonel Jagger made back in 1997. Reddy Amisi and Stino Mubi broke the code of Viva La Musica by using cries/animations on their discs that weren't their. Because without using cries of other bands, they wanted to show their supremacy. But Reddy Amisi and Stino didn't knew it and Papa Wemba felt betrayed, because it was like the gave their supremacy to Clan Wenge. Wenge Maison Mere would adopt a few years later the same strategy. Didn't you notice, when an atalaku coming from another band they immediately cut him, when trying to showcase his animations coming from other bands and then saying "this is maison mere".

I got a personal question about Stino Mubi. I wondered why he did decide to have red hair? It never looked good on him in my humble opinion.
I mean he should stayed with this hair that he had when he performed in London back in December 1997 which was months before his third solo album within Viva La Musica called Invitation.
