I see Bendoson already coming the following week to react against Tosha, lol.

It's only now that I noticed that doing national tours doesn't have any impact anymore since the fall of Mobutu. If a bandleader goes to Tshikapa, Lisala Mbuji Mayi, Mbandaka or Kisangani it doesn't create any buzz. While it it was different in days that King Kester Emeneya, Papa Wemba and comedian Ngadiadia Ngadios went there, newspapers and Tele Zaire hyping the events. Looking back on it, lt looks like it had even more impact on the Congolese public than when an artist would perform in Ivory Coast, Uganda or Botswana.

So Chic Choc Loyenghe is basically Promise Musica ? Hearing Tosha saying that they released an album in 1990 recorded at Studio IAD in Brazzaville, made me wonder how old he, Tutu Calugi, Corean Polystar, Djo Lockis, Alpatchino and Pathy Bass were. The majority must have been minors at that time or maybe he gave the wrong year. So sad that these albums are very rare.

I knew that those coming from Kasa-Vubu have massive respect for Zaiko Langa Langa, because of the band having their roots there. But I was surprised to hear when Tosha Fulakanda said that he and other youngsters from Kasa-Vubu were dreaming about playing in Zaiko. Because back then youngsters of other areas were dreaming about becoming part of Wenge or breaking through with their own band and some dreaming about being in Victoria Eleison or Viva la Musica. The majority of youngsters saw Zaiko as a band of the elders and  many at some point being afraid to join because of many members starting to pass away from 1992. It explains why Pathy Bass had the desire to join Zaiko Nkolo Mboka (He was already part of Zaiko Familia Dei before Quartier Latin). Jean Marie Montingia is also from K-V right ?

It was crazy to hear that Alpatchino joined Zaiko for a moment, just before being with Nouvelle Ecriture. Imagine Poison with Alpatchino as one of the singers. I don't see him fit with Willy Bula, Deo Brondo, Lassa and co.

It's sad that late Gauthier Mukoka was left behind in Kinshasa for 'L. He was so talented as bassist. I am sure that he would still be alive if he went to Europe with them. But it's his own fault.

What did Gauthier Mukoka do to get left behind? Was he coming high or late to rehearsals?

During the time that Nouvelle Ecriture was preparing 'L in Kinshasa, Gauthier Mukoka was spending his time in Brazzaville. That's the reason why he was left behind in Kinshasa when Papa Wemba came back to get Nouvelle Ecriture to Europe. Papa Wemba doesn't such musicians. The same thing happened to late Iboss. Iboss didn't show up anymore at concerts and rehearshals and settled in Matadi. Then when Papa Wemba came back from Europe to prepare Bercy with Nouvelle Ecriture in Kinshasa, Iboss also came back. But Papa Wemba chased him away by saying that he only likes musicians that work hard and loves their art.

i think coreen was the oldest of them, tutu alpa lockis 1974 75 mboshi 72 coreen more toward 70 or end of 60's
i remember tutu had to hide back in the days at times for a whole week so that his dad does not see him lol it was humiliating according to his dad as a bank director that his son would do music so it was not allowed
if i am not mistaken promise did an album again in which mboshi tutu animated with marchouse on lead but it was never released because producer did not pay full studio fees so it stayed there
crazy to think that many of those group recorded and most did not really see their albums exist

Is the reason most street groups don't make it is because they can't afford studio fees or they can't find a producer for their albums?

Both or also what happened is that when some established leaders listened to those albums in studio by being curious when recording their own stuff theyd make sure to block indirectly release so that those artists are so desperate to earn a name that they have to join bigger groups
i am not totally certain if that was the reason but back in 1990's  there was a street group with zulema, lola muana and a couple of other guys who made it aswell to big groups who recorded together but somebody from one of the zaiko offshots(viva anti choc and co),informed their leader about a promising group which recorded, and the guy made a secret deal with the supposed producer(which was not a professional producer but rather like an older brother trying to help out)to "bury album" by pretending files disappeared or other reasons, and the guy went back in europe no news for a year then zulema lola and co went to brazza to try to edge closer to their dream of professional music

All those bands had just bad luck to be in the wrong era. If they were in the 70s they would have been produced by Parions Mondenge of Mbuta Muntu Bambi, Editions Veve of Verckys Kiamuangana, Mol Mol of Molende Kwikwi, etc. and receive proper promotion.

Dlo Lockis is that old? His stature always made me think he is from the late seventies or early eighties.
