Could be lack of practice and health reasons. People forget that those who are generally healthy keep their voice, even if they don't perform as they used to like Aimelia Lias, the Bula brothers, Modogo, and Sam Tshintu.

It breaks my heart watching Alain Mpela these days, because even his speaking voice seems raspy and exhausted. I suspect he has diabetes given the flux in weight over the years.

Although it's interesting, Genta and Bill have similar voice of animation and have been doing it roughly the same amount of time, but Genta voice is dying...literally sounds like it's a fight to scream. While Bill sounds relatively the same. I'm guessing Genta smokes or drinks too much, but apparently Bill is a party guy too so idk...

yeah lacoste had blindly followed fally and ferre's mode of 4 5 months in europe (even doing worse than them) then here and there in africa for concerts and had completely dropped his work ethic he disappeared almost since the lockdowns and had has barely had a run of concerts to keep in shape when he returned its always once here and there
genta i think the first factor is the work ethic, the guy does 10 plus hour daily rehearsal with mulala dancing next to him plus the group rehearsals plus how jb performs something 5 times a week  plus his heavy traditional mixtures drinking he never misses out and even on albums does not want to let other artists outshine him in terms of space,he is too competitive by nature, but he has to calm down mid 40's,voice issue...all that should give him a wakeup call to relax a bit
afande suffered kidney issues which got him into a long treatment, and like most old congolese people i am sure he found some of the conditions too hard for his full recovery and is late compared to how he should have recovered
